This Week In YouTube Commenter Outrage: The Screaming Spurs Lady

Written by Brandon Stroud / 05.07.13

Last night’s Spurs/Warriors Game 1 went into double overtime and featured a dramatic game-winning three from Manu Ginobli, but the only thing anybody wants to talk about this morning is the “screaming Spurs fan.”

If you watched the game, you may have heard the dulcet tones of a puppy being born for the entirety of the second half and both overtimes. It was just a lady enjoying a great game of basketball with an unfortunate pitch in her voice, but yeah, it sounded like something that would try to kill you in Lord of the Rings. Every time the Spurs scored a basket I could see Frodo fleeing for his life. For The Win put together a list of “Jesus, somebody shut that lady up” tweets from Notable Internet Types, but they’re in good fun, because man was she annoying.

That “good fun” runs out when you leave For The Win and venture into YouTube, where commenters are not afraid to get INCREDIBLY SPECIFIC about why they hate this lady and the things that should be done to her. For your enjoyment (or whatever), I’ve collected a few of the most horrible comments about the Screaming Spurts Lady. Warning: This is the YouTube comments section, and is not suitable for any audience. Reader discretion is advised.

This Week In YouTube Commenter Outrage: Lil Papi’s Home Run Trot Has People Furious

Written by Ashley Burns / 03.19.13

From the folks at Bar Stool comes a surefire new viral video about a kid known only as “Lil Papi”, and with more than 126,000 views at the time of this Cheeto-dusted post, chances are you may have already seen this home run trot for the ages. Inspired by some of the big league’s biggest showboaters, this young masher sends a pitch over the fence before be-boppin’ and scatting all over the opposing pitcher and his teammates.

Originally, I was going to offer my opinion before asking what our readers thought of this young boy’s antics, but nobody really cares that I think Taco Bell’s Volcano Tacos are delicious, so I am once again ceding my opinion to the Internet’s wisest pontificators and oracles of humanity – YouTube commenters.

What do the world’s greatest anonymous minds think of a young boy flaunting his swag after going yard? You may be surprised.

You Can Finally Play As Justin Bieber In A Basketball Video Game

Written by Ashley Burns / 10.03.12

Just a few nights removed from barfing on stage, Canadian pop superstar Justin Bieber performed the show of a lifetime at the Staples Center Monday night. I know that because I looked at his Twitter feed and he’s been retweeting everyone who has Tweeted that his show was great and, according to some, propelled his swag to new heights. If only that swag would run out of fuel and plummet to the ground.

This morning, though, Bieber Tweeted a video that followed up a Tweet from last week that confirmed that the MVP of the NBA All-Star Weekend celebrity game – I think, who even remembers? – is available in NBA 2K13, which hit stores yesterday. I’d make fun of this, but he’s instantly an upgrade to the Orlando Magic roster.

The video is… less than flattering, as it shows Bieber being rejected and turning the ball over, before getting frustrated and throwing his arms up in the air. Interestingly, he is, in fact, waving them like does care. But please don’t feel bad for the Biebs, because as YouTube commenter DiaperBoy1996 points out, Justin is awesome at everything.

This Week In YouTube Commenter Outrage: The Kinks Performance That NBC Didn’t Show Us

Written by Ashley Burns / 08.14.12

From the start of the 2012 Summer Olympics, NBC was bludgeoned with criticism and vitriol from the Internet because of the network’s decision to air events on delay. The network’s executives fired back at the criticism by explaining that the American public is essentially too stupid to handle things as they air live, and sports business gurus like Darren Rovell also explained that it’s bad business for NBC to air events live when it needs good ratings in the primetime slots. And that’s fine. I get that. It’s all over now. Let’s just chillax.

Or not, says the YouTube community, as cries of outrage are still pouring in on the comment threads of videos that will eventually be deleted by NBC’s lawyers. One such video that is currently still available shows The Kinks frontman Ray Davies performing the band’s classic song, “Waterloo Sunset”. This performance was pulled from NBC’s closing ceremonies’ broadcast because the network wanted to take advantage of its massive ratings by introducing us to the new show Animal Practice.

Let’s just say that isn’t going over too well with my personal oracles of right and wrong, YouTube commenters.
