We’re Gonna Get Bombed And It’s College Humor’s Fault For Making Space Jam Jokes

Written by Brandon Stroud / 04.17.13

Kim Jong Un Dennis Rodman

As a resident of Austin, Texas, I’m on supreme leader of North Korea Kim Jong-un’s “show America what’s up by firing missles at them” list. I’m still not 100% sure why. Washington, Los Angeles, Austin. But hey, I haven’t been missile attacked since I heard the news, so I assume I got away with my treasonous whatevers or was at least outside of the blast radius.

Now here comes College Humor with their The Adventures of Kim Jong-un animated series to ensure that the entire INTERNET gets threatened attacked, and they roped me into it by peppering an episode with Space Jam jokes. Just when I think I’m out, College Humor, you pull me back in.

I present to you now supreme leader Kim Jong-un, Yao Ming, Dennis “Denzel” Rodman and Lola Bunny (no, seriously) in The Adventures of Kim Jong-un. Watch at your own risk.

Behold, The Yao Ming Golf Swing

Written by Brandon Stroud / 10.23.12

Yao Ming Golf Swing“Yao Ming being adorable” is up near the top of the things With Leather loves most, somewhere between Phillie Phanatic human interest stories and Kate Upton outtakes. And while nothing could ever replace Yao Ming holding a panda in our hearts, the Yao Ming golf swing is coming awfully close.

Everything about it is beautiful. The swing itself. The way he just stares at the ball after he misses it, then holds his hand out like he can’t believe what the ball just did. The plainly-stated YouTube description, with an explanation for what’s happening:

Yao starts a new career in golf in his retirement. He is so tall and it is a little hard for him to play well in golf.

The helpful advice from the 30,000 people in his on-course entourage. His sad little blooper shot when he finally makes contact. It’s the first golf video I’ve ever wanted to hug.

I hope his friend’s advice was, “try playing a sport where the ball isn’t so close to the ground”.

Yao Ming Hungers, Earthling

Written by Brandon Stroud / 07.05.12

Yao Ming Oreos commercialWA!

I’m not sure I have a favorite part of this Chinese ad for Mini Oreos. I’ve narrowed it down to three things:

1. Yao Ming needing a moment to process the fact that a child has tricked him, then mumble-laughing about it.
2. The idea that Yao could probably throw that kid in the air and eat him like a Mini Oreo.
3. The weird sexual tension at the end. I think it’s the music.

Seriously though, why are you cradling his head like that? Is Ming so tall and awkward that the only way he can hear and talk to you is by wrapping his tendrils around you and getting right in your face? His hand scooping up from the background like that makes the kid’s head look like something from Star Wars.

ROFLMNBAO: The 2011-12 Season Awards Edition!

Written by Ashley Burns / 05.03.12

I took a couple weeks off from doing these here ROFLMNBAO posts for two reasons: 1) because the last two weeks of the season were soooooo boring and B) I forgot. But I figured what better time than now to resume posting these NBA meme pictures since the news that they’re so in demand. Form a line to the left, attractive girls who want to give me money to create ridiculously corny-sounding sites!

Also, I figured it was a better time than any for this week’s installment with the playoffs in full swing and individual awards being presented by the league. As we already know, Tyson Chandler is the Defensive Player of the Year, Jason Kidd received the Sportsmanship Award and Gregg Popovich is the Coach of the Year. “What about the other awards?” you ask while peeling apart the pages of my vintage Hustler collection. The NBA is taking its sweet ass time with those, so I’m issuing my own awards.

A lot happened in this condensed season, so it’s only fair that we recognize everyone for their efforts.

Sorry, But This Yao Ming Photo Isn’t Real

Written by Ashley Burns / 04.10.12

While there’s nothing better than someone becoming aware of their own meme and embracing it, I’m sad to say that I am the bearer of bad news today. The above image popped up on Imgur, Memebase and a few other sites yesterday and most people were all like, “Oh snap, Yao Ming has embraced his trollface meme.” I only wish that were the case. Using my keen CSI investigating, it’s pretty easy to tell that it’s just a photoshop, much to the disappointment of every website’s commenters asking, “LOL IZ THIS REELZ?”

It’s even easier if you also know that the photoshop is one of several created by Le Rage Shirts. Trust me, I wanted this to be real, too.

As with most memes, the Yao Ming trollface – or “Bitch Please” or “F*CK IT” – debuted on Reddit a year or so ago after a rather amusing postgame interview featuring Yao and Metta World Peace, then known as Ron Artest. This trip down memory lane has been brought to you by Yao Ming with a panda bear, still the most adorable picture we’ve ever posted.

The Only Way To Paint Yao Ming: With A Basketball And As Big As Possible

Written by Brandon Stroud / 01.25.12

yao-ming-painting-basketballFrom Guyism by way of Gizmodo comes one of the weirdest and most unnecessarily creative videos you’ll see on the Internet not involving a cup or a tub: artist Hong Yi painting a more-or-less lifesize painting of With Leather favorite and adorable panda-handler Yao Ming using nothing but a canvas, a basketball, and a bucket of red paint.

It’s pretty incredible, both in result and execution. Imagine how hard it would be to portraitize Miles Davis using nothing but blue and a trumpet, or the impossibility of dipping your junk into a vat of Sherwin Williams and rubbing out an acrylic of Peter North. Painting basketball guys with a basketball is a great skill. In fact, I’d go as far as to say it’s the greatest kind of skill — the one you have absolutely no reason to use.

I keep restarting the video to see if she’s gonna work a panda into this somewhere.
