This Week In Horrible-Looking People: 30 WWF Trading Cards From 1992

Written by Brandon Stroud / 06.17.13

Virgil WWF Trading Card 1992

This week, This Week In Horrible-Looking People leaves the world of embarrassing promo photos behind long enough to focus on the glorious pro wrestling trading cards of the early 90s, specifically WWF trading cards from 1992. The “GOLD Series,” because the Silver Series is just the names of wrestlers scribbled onto index cards.

Inside we’ve got some of the worst looking pro wrestlers ever, some of the laziest card photography you’ve ever seen, multiple instances of Virgil (!!) and more. There are even a few good wrestlers sprinkled in to keep it interesting. But yeah, both Beverly Brothers are present, so don’t expect too much.

Please click through to enjoy 30 of the best and worst WWF trading cards. Let us know your favorites in our comments section below.

Hulk Hogan’s Hand Is Now Grosser Than The Rest Of Hulk Hogan

Written by Brandon Stroud / 05.27.13
Hulk Hogan burns hand

Not what we're talking about.

Hulk Hogan was hangin’ and bangin’ beside a radiator this weekend when it exploded, severely burning his left hand. I, like many people who found out about the accident via Hogan’s Twitter, approached the injury with the same morbid curiosity I used when his sex tape was released and I heard his junk was like a leathery Pringles can.

The 59-year-old wrestling legend posted a series of tough guy snaps to Twitter of his blistered digits, which had substantially increased in size due to the singe.

Hulk captioned his gory pictures with steely but humorous references to the scalded appendage as he headed to the emergency room at the Tampa General Hospital. (via Daily Mail)

Of course, by “humorous references” they mean tweets like “ouch,” “double ouch” and “triple ouch.”

I’m including the photos after the jump (or, if you came here via a direct link, below these words) so proceed with caution, because this is the most real injury Hogan’s had since that time a giant and a mummy force-hugged him like a sandwich. Graphic images are ahead. Pretend you’re watching a late-90s WCW PPV main event and view them with one or both hands over your face.

This Week In Horrible-Looking People: 31 Ridiculous WCW, TNA & WWE Glamour Shots

Written by Brandon Stroud / 05.20.13

John Cena wrestling glamour shot

This week, With Leather’s search for the most ridiculous, hilarious, and amazing promo photos from the world of professional wrestling ventures into the previously untapped category of “candid 8 x 10s.” These are the publicity photos that didn’t get bordered and stacked in front of wrestlers during autograph signings, but were close enough to end up signed and sold in plastic card sheets at your local hobby store. These are just as good and sometimes even worse, if that is possible.

(On a personal note, I guess we’re calling them ‘glamour shots’ now, because since we started the regular feature, a lot of other sports sites have started posting galleries and calling them that. And, uh, sending them to With Leather as a “tip.” Thanks for the tip, other guys!)

Please click through to enjoy 31 of our favorite WCW, TNA Impact Wrestling and WWE glamour shots. If you need to be coerced, there’s a photo of a guy playing a WWF logo guitar in here somewhere.

Sports On TV: Family Matters’ 20 Greatest Sports Moments

Written by Brandon Stroud / 05.09.13

Urkel American Gladiators

did I do that

This week, With Leather’s semi-weekly look at the best sports moments from not-sports television shows goes back to its 80s roots to chronicle the jet pack rope climbs, Bushwhacker tag team matches and Grandmama slam dunks of ABC’s TGIF founding father ‘Family Matters.’ You may remember it best as “that show Urkel was on.” Consider it a spiritual sequel to our Full House list.

If you watched the show, you’ll remember these moments. If you didn’t, you should find enough insurmountable 80s/90s cheese in Reginald VelJohnson ALONE to satiate you. So sit back, relax, and repeatedly click the “next” button for the 20 greatest sports moments of ‘Family Matters.’ No sweat, my pet!

This Week In Horrible-Looking People: 51 More Random, Amazing WWE Promo Photos

Written by Brandon Stroud / 04.29.13

WWE promo photos

Last week we debuted the first installment of our weekly and possibly infinite series This Week In Horrible-Looking People, dedicated to the best and worst of pro wrestling 8×10 promotional photos. It featured (among other things) Linda McMahon looking like a U.S. President, the happiest photo Kevin Nash has ever taken and a Triple H/Chyna promo shot that is clearly just two cardboard cutouts propped up side by side.

This week is loosely dedicated to remembering the good old days, back when Kurt Angle was a regular looking dude, Mickie James was a psychotic lesbian stalker and Dolph Ziggler entered the ring via trampoline. I think he was the trampoline one. Anyway, I’ve gathered 51 more random, amazing WWE promo photos from the 1990s, 2000s and today, and I hope you enjoy them.

Except the Michael Hayes one. Nobody could enjoy that.

Sports On TV: 15 More Great Sports Moments From Saved By The Bell

Written by Brandon Stroud / 04.25.13

Saved by the Bell golfing

The very first show featured in our Sports On TV column was ‘Saved By The Bell,’ and with good reason. It’s one of those shows we’ve all seen whether we like it or not, and face it, you can’t spell “Internet” without ‘Saved By The Bell.’

Saved By The Bell’s 20 Greatest Sports Moments featured so many of the classics — Zack becoming an Indian to deal with track team stress, girls on the wrestling team, wheelchair basketball, Zack hitting a soon-to-be-dead-from-oil-spillage duck with a baseball — but it didn’t feature them all. It’s only fitting that the first part 2 entrant in Sports on TV history would be 15 MORE great sports moments from the show.

So, please click through to enjoy sports moments 21-35 from ‘Saved By The Bell.’ Warning: there is a lot of spooning-disguised-as-instruction gags in these entries. A LOT.
