With Spandex celebrates its milestone sixth episode by welcoming a very special guest, the second most famous man to wear an UPROXX network-related t-shirt in public, former NXT season 4 rookie and current WWE Smackdown superstar Derrick Bateman.

The timing couldn’t be better, as the epic 60+ week run of NXT Redemption has finally come to an end (with Bateman winning by default?). On the podcast we discuss some of Derrick’s favorite memories from the show, his experiences living and wrestling in beautiful Cleveland, Ohio, his “Indy No Mercy mod” of the greatest wrestling game of all time and cap things off with a dramatic reading of some Derrick Bateman fan fiction. At one point a guy on a really loud motorcycle drives by while we’re taping. It’s fun for everyone!

After you’re done listening, make sure to follow the Cadillac Of A Man @DerrickWWE, like him on his WWE Universe Facebook page and cheer for him when he shows up on TV, be it in a winning effort against Titus O’Neil or losing to the Funkasaurus in roughly a minute. When you find out why the banana split is there, you’ll wish it was something else.

Father’s Day is this Sunday, June 17, and to celebrate, I’ve devoted an entire episode of With Spandex to Adventures In Bitchsitting, a nearly-lost pro wrestling fan fiction masterpiece about Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit being single fathers. Trust me, that’s the least bizarre thing that happens. Preserved from an attachment on a post in a long-forgotten Yahoo! fan fic group, the story features a frank discussion of French sexuality, two complete viewings of Lilo & Stitch and Teddy Long as the proprietor of a sex club. It’s amazing, and if I only accomplish one thing in my writing career I want sharing Adventures In Bitchsitting with you to be it.

This week’s special guest (and reader) is Ari from Tumblr’s Feminist Pro Wrestling, the person magnanimous enough to share the story with me in the first place. Also joining With Spandex are Lex Lybrand and Kelli Kelli from Wear The Cheese, because sh*t, somebody had to hear this for the first time.

This week’s With Spandex guest is Veda Scott, a talented young wrestler who you may’ve seen interviewing stars backstage at Ring Of Honor, hyping upcoming events from the CHIKARA offices or competing in the ring everywhere from Beyond Wrestling in the Northeast to Absolute Intense Wrestling in the Midwest. Oh, and she just graduated from law school.

In episode 4 we laugh about concussions, talk about Veda’s announcement as one of the eight women competing in Anarchy Championship Wrestling’s American Joshi Queen Of Queens tournament, throw shade at community college documentary filmmaking classes, discuss our favorite episodes of ‘Forensic Files’, compare and contrast our identical housecats, complain extensively about Kings Dominion turning three great old rides into one terrible super coaster and the value of pro wrestling perfection. It was a great conversation. About 20 minutes of it in the middle is nothing but bar exam study questions.

We talk about our favorite and least favorite dead wrestlers, our experiences at WrestleMania 28 and the upcoming WWE Extreme Rules pay-per-view. It’s gonna be extreme~!

After something like four months of vague promising, I’m happy to present to you episode one of With Leather’s brand new pro wrestling podcast, the appropriately named “With Spandex”.

If you’re a fan of the Best And Worst Of WWE Raw column, give this a listen. Every week I’ll going to be talking to a performer, writer or personality from THIS BUSINESS~, and this week I’m lucky enough to debut the show with Austin, Texas, and Anarchy Championship Wrestling’s own Rachel Summerlyn. She’s the blonde with another guy’s blood in her hair in the banner image. Yes, she is that awesome.
