If you aren’t already privy to his legend, meet the Blackburn Chicken. He’s a living, actual chicken that gets released onto the field whenever Blackburn Rovers fans want to protest something like, for example, the poultry company that owns the team.

I don’t know why he’s been unleashed here (and it’s probably not the same chicken), but I enjoy the call and response that happens when he appears. The Blackburn Chicken remains relatively still as a security guard creeps up on him … everyone in the stands goes WHOOOOOOOAAAAAH in anticipation, and when the guard makes his move the chicken FLEES and everybody goes YEAHHHHHH and the game continues. I hope the chicken was released in protest of the lazy-ass security guards Blackburn has. Those guys are not giving it their all.

I was originally going to share this with a “sloths swimming is my new favorite thing” talking point (because sloths swimming are great), but then it got to the part in the video where a sloth takes a boat ride. Sloths taking a boat ride are my ACTUAL new favorite thing. (via Daily Of The Day)

Here’s a story that will make you laugh, then cry, then want to find like four cats and tie them together and try to make things right.

Meet Stewie, the Guinness World Record holder for “World’s Longest Cat.”

The longest domestic cat is Mymains Stewart Gilligan (Stewie to his furr-ends), who is 123 cm (48.5 in) long. He is owned by Robin Hendrickson and Erik Brandsness (USA) and was measured on 28 August 2010.

Mymains Stewart Gillligan is a 5 year-old Maine Coon.

I wish the story could end with THIS CAT IS LONGER THAN EVERY OTHER CAT EVER THAT IS AMAZING, but it doesn’t. Stewie spent the last few years battling cancer and passed away earlier in the week. I can’t think of anything more directly saddening on the Internet than “a special cat has died.” Stewie’s owner posted a farewell video on his Facebook fan page (because he has that) and gives the poor guy a chance to say goodbye. The tears we cry for Long Cat are long.

Zip won five championships in agility before an accident left her paralyzed. Now, they take the bars off for her and let her run between the posts, and she still makes little jumps as she goes through them and oh my God my heart.
