Kofi Kingston Talks His 10 Favorite Video Games (Plus His Pick for a Movie Version of Master Chief)

Kofi Kingston WWE 13 video games

Unlike the Kitana-costume-donning AJ Lee, whose 10 most beloved video games were featured on Monday, Kofi Kingston hasn’t made any big shout-outs to gaming culture on WWE programming. But much like Lee, Kingston is dedicated to the medium and was totally down to write and rank his favorite games before doing a countdown interview a while back. “The top 10 list is a big deal, so you didn’t have to ask me twice,” says the resident king of resourceful Royal Rumble spots.

Kingston’s life with video games began with the 1987 Commodore 64 title Barbarian: The Ultimate Warrior. As a console player, he’s run the gamut. At first, his loyalty was strictly with Nintendo (he despised Sega), but his allegiance began to wobble when the SNES version of Mortal Kombat hit and substituted blood for sweat. Later, he was a fan of the original PlayStation. When he and Zack Ryder were going through developmental together, Ryder’s mom got her son an Xbox 360. Since Ryder wasn’t really into video games, Kingston bought the barely used 360 for a song and soon became an Xbox guy. Currently, he owns all three major consoles plus, as an episode of WWE’s YouTube series Superstar Toyz indicated, a 125-games-in-one arcade cabinet. “I guess that’d be pretty hardcore if you had to put a tag on it,” he says.

As of this writing, Kingston has disappointingly been given nothing to do for WrestleMania 29 on Sunday. If he doesn’t get a last-minute slot, this will mark the first WrestleMania without a Kofi match on the card since he debuted in WWE in 2008. Seeing as how he could especially use some love right now, let’s hand off the reins to everyone’s favorite ex-Jamaican to hear his ballot.

The With Leather Bad Wrestling Theme Lyrics March Madness Tournament: The Final Four

Written by Brandon Stroud / 04.02.13

"This voting, a little bit spot-tay."

The NCAA Final Four AND WrestleMania 29 happen this weekend, so it’s only appropriate that the With Leather Bad Wrestling Theme Lyrics March And April Madness Tournament enters its own homestretch. Your Final Four are just as unexpected as the real ones: Mr. Ass, American Males, AJ Styles and Kung Fu Naki.

The last round saw the #1 and 2 seeds (Undertaker and Layla, respectively) fall, so it’s up to you to decide whether or not fan-chosen 1 seed AJ Styles will take the tournament, or if lyrics about asses, America and croppie will reign supreme. Those matches are below, and I urge you to consider and discuss them deeply before voting.

Voting for the Final Four will take place until Sunday, April 7. You know, WrestleMania. The final two songs will enter the finals on Monday, and we’ll crown a winner. Vote now, and vote often!

RIP Reid Flair, 1989 – 2013

Written by Brandon Stroud / 03.29.13

Here’s some tragic news I never expected to have to report: Reid Flair, the 24-year old son of legendary wrestling champion “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair, has passed away at the age of 24. You read that correctly. 24 f**king years old. PWInsider has confirmed it, although details are sketchy.

If you aren’t familiar with Reid, he’d been training for a while, and had just returned from a tour of All Japan Pro Wrestling. He had a solid amateur wrestling pedigree, including a win in the AAU National Wrestling Tournament, and had even been slated to debut for independent promotion Ring Of Honor a while back until personal issues (including a series of arrests including assault and battery, DUI and possession of heroin) put him off track. Things were seemingly moving in the right direction for him, and now … this.

Reid never had much of a chance to make an impact in the wrestling world, but fans who grew up watching in the 90s might remember him from his appearances as a 10-year old on WCW Monday Nitro, wherein he shot a takedown on Eric Bischoff at the behest of Arn Anderson:

The With Leather Bad Wrestling Theme Lyrics March Madness Tournament — Round 3

Written by Brandon Stroud / 03.28.13

The first ever With Leather Bad Wrestling Theme Lyrics March Madness Tournament is almost over, which is … probably good, considering that MARCH is almost over, but work with us here.

We’re down to the Elite Eight: Undertaker, Mr. Ass, Layla, the American Males, AJ Styles, Jeff Jarrett, Kung Fu Naki and Billy Kidman. Only one theme can reign supreme as the possessor of the worst lyrics in pro wrestling entrance theme history, and it’s up to you to decide which theme that’ll be. You know the drill by now: check out the match-ups, give the songs another listen, consider the horribleness of Funaki’s memory being a “little bit grog-gay” or whatever and vote in the polls at the bottom of each page.

Votes for this round will be tallied on Tuesday, which means you have until Monday, April 1 to make your voice heard. These are the tournament’s big guns, so I want to hear a lot of pointed discussion about assholes asses and picking asses and … other things about asses.

Your Elite Eight match-ups:

Today’s Your Last Chance To Vote In The Bad Wrestling Theme Lyrics March Madness Tournament

Written by Brandon Stroud / 03.18.13
Kidman entrance theme

Whatever you do, don't doze off.

On Tuesday, With Leather launched round one of the Bad Wrestling Theme Lyrics March Madness Tournament, a not-really-seeded contest of bad writing and poor song planning. On Friday, we shared part 1 of a two-part podcast intended to help you make a decision. Today, we present to you part two. GUESS WHAT HAPPENS NOW.

If you haven’t voted on the round one match-ups yet, TODAY IS THE LAST DAY TO VOTE. This is important. Tomorrow we’ll be announcing the lyrics that’re moving on to round two, and if you let that happen without contributing your voice, this whole experiment will be for nothing. Please give part two a listen, because it is two hours (no, seriously) of us discussing the fan-chosen second 16. If you can’t listen to the entire thing that’s fine, because JESUS it’s long, but give it a shot. There are tons of jokes about Bob Holly and cum shirts. Not at the same time.
