Regina George is Flawless

Written by Brandon Stroud / 06.10.11

In the cutest moment to happen since Kate Upton taught us how to Dougie, a roving cameraman put The Notebook‘s Rachel McAdams up on the JumBoTron during game four of the Stanley Cup Finals and she got super excited about it.

These days it’s hard for celebrities to curry public favor, and every few months there’s a new sex tape scandal or an US Magazine cover about how they’re pregnant-but-not-really trying to keep somebody in the public eye, but you know what? Something human and cute like this goes a long way. It’s nice to see someone enjoying themselves, and to know that being up on a big screen for most of your adult life hasn’t taken away the novelty.

At least I hope it hasn’t. I hate to be that guy, but the lack of sound and the peaceful arrangement of fans around her make this look a little fishy. Look at those people in front of her, they look like they should be on the wall over the concession stands at Progressive Field.

Morning Links: Bruins Fans Show Support by Dying Black Bears Black

Written by Brandon Stroud / 06.07.11

Fun fact: If you ask the average sports fan who he thinks will win the Stanley Cup, he will answer “LeBron James.”

Sports

Canucks Try to Explain 8-1 Game 3 Embarrassment - Canucks player Carlos Zambrano added “we stinks.” There are a lot of great parallels between the NHL and NBA finals, such as the Heat/Bruins being unstoppable and Dirk/the Canucks refusing to do anything but set those terrible picks over and over. [Puck Daddy]

Tim Thomas Toe-Pick Followed By Some Redemption - This is the easiest way to humanize a player, by watching him mess up and fall on his ass, then absolutely truck somebody. Hockey is pretty cool, and more people on the Internet should watch it. [Yardbarker]

Canucks Win the West with a Knuckle-Puck

Written by Brandon Stroud / 05.25.11

DUCKS FLY TOGETHERDon’t be confused when you watch this video of the Vancouver Canucks defeating the San Jose Sharks in double overtime, you won’t be able to tell what happened. Nobody was. But wait until the slow motion replay, where you get that amazing, life-defining shot of Kevin Bieksa breaking out a Russ Tyler-style Knuckle-Puck to send the Canucks to the Stanley Cup finals, 17 years to the day since their last trip.

Here’s a video of the original, for comparison.

Canucks Fan Gets Boobs Uploaded to the Entire Internet

Written by Brandon Stroud / 05.19.11

some random lady flashes during the NHL Playoffs

Near the end of of game 2 between Sharks and Canucks in Vancouver, a blonde woman with pierced nipples and I guess not much else going for her decided to go boobs-to-box and flash San Jose’s Ben Eager during a penalty. Not only is this the kind of amazing happenstance that will be reported on every single website today (including Cute Overload, Post Secret and Is It Christmas), but flashing a guy named “Ben Eager” gives me the most indoor Nerf-hooped pun of all time. That’s like whipping out your junk in front of a lady named Fanny Johnson.

Check out the censored, relatively safe for work version of the video here, because your work hates nipples, but doesn’t mind the entire rest of the boob. The video is brought to you by The Score, and I bet you couldn’t tell after seeing THE SCORE written all over the place and plastered on the lady like they gave birth to her.

Nicole Kidman Went To A Hockey Game

Written by Ashley Burns / 05.11.11

Nicole Kidman used to be one of the most beautiful women in the world, but after 600 or so years she’s begun to show her age and that’s fine, because we love all kinds of women. Even those whose faces are stretched tighter than a tennis net. On Monday night, the Australian actress and husband Keith Urban, an Australian country music singer, attended Game 6 of the Nashville/Vancouver series in Nashville to cheer on their beloved Predators against the Canucks.

Vancouver scored two goals in the first period to seal the game and the series with a 2-1 victory (4-2 series) and Nicole couldn’t have been more excited about it. Thankfully The Daily Mail was able to document her emotional investment in the matchup so we can all revel in her natural beauty.

NHL Puck-Up: $94K For A Hockey Card?

Written by Ashley Burns / 05.04.11

I saw this story earlier in the week and forgot to mention it because I was more concerned with the liberty and freedom of Vancouver’s Green Men, but someone recently purchased a Wayne Gretzky rookie card for $94,163 from an online sports memorabilia auction. It is apparently an incredibly rare, flawless O-Pee-Chee card from 1979, and SCP Auction basically called it the most valuable modern trading card on the planet.

*stares at pile of Jose Canseco Rated Rookies, sighs*

Tampa Bay Lightning 4, Washington Capitals 3 (Series: 3-0 TB)

The Washington Capitals scored three goals in the second period (big deal, football players do that just by kicking the ball) to grab a 3-2 lead over the Lightning heading into the third period. It really looked like Alex Ovechkin and Co. were going to splash some water on the red hot Lightning and climb back into this series. Instead, Caps goalie Michal Neuvirth allowed two goals in the third, which I have been told is not a good strategy.

Tampa’s Steven Stamkos and Ryan Malone scored the tying and game-winning goals, respectively, within 30 seconds of each other and the Lightning have now won 6 straight games as the 5-seed.

Fun Fact: The Lightning are the second most popular sports team in Tampa behind the Buccaneers. The Rays rank 714th.
