12 Most Devoted Celebrity NBA Playoff Fans - This list taught me that Chris Tucker is suddenly old, Eddie Vedder has turned into a bookish MILF, and that Will Smith had his own basketball card. Also, how perfect is it that Jared from Subway loves the Pacers? The Pacers are the Jared from Subway of the NBA. [EgoTV]

The Deadly Sounds of Cricket - A cricket announcer is forced into (temporary, day-specific) retirement after “Trego went the tonk against Glamorgan” (whatever the hell that means) and hit the ball into the commentary box, breaking a window and hitting the poor guy in the back. Urban Meyer’s Daughter is Hot and Breaking News

Written by Brandon Stroud / 04.27.11

growl

Urban Meyer’s foxy volleyball daughter Nicki has lashed out at her own smart phone over talk that her famous father is headed to Columbus take over as head football coach at Ohio State. Nicki, who is pretty famous for platonically hugging Tim Tebow all the time, posted the following message on her Twitter.

tweet tweet

That’s what I’m tlking abt. Rumors and conspiracy theories have been running rampant all month, and college football commentator and flatulence-free food advocate Beano Cook exasperated the speculation with a prediction of the move during an interview on ESPN radio on Thursday. Neon Deion Sanders, who is in that header picture for some reason, could not be reached for comment.

For more information about Nicki Meyer, you can check out her Twitter, her Georgia Tech volleyball bio, or you can just turn around and talk to Chris Hansen, who is standing like four feet behind you.

Urban Meyer Is Now An ESPN Analyst

Written by samerochocinco / 02.01.11

Urban Meyer, who resigned as coach of the Florida Gators this past season to spend more time with his family, has already taken another job that he says won’t take time away from the family, but I’m pretty sure he’ll find a way to make it happen. It’s really looking more and more like he had no faith in the future of Florida’s program and wants to keep his coaching record respectable until a good job opportunity opens up. At least, that’s my theory.

Meyer, who won two BCS national championships at Florida, will make his debut Wednesday during ESPNU’s coverage of national signing day. He will work weekly regular-season games during the season, as well as provide studio analysis on ESPN’s “College Football Live” and “College GameDay. ”

“Football has played an extremely important role in my life for the past 25 years and ESPN has given me an incredible opportunity to join its world-class team and share my passion, knowledge, and enthusiasm for the game with fans across the country,” Meyer said.

When he resigned Dec. 8, the 46-year-old Meyer said he wanted to spend more time with his family. He insisted on a conference call his new job wouldn’t get in the way of that, with minimal commitment during the offseason and travel only over the weekend in-season. -ESPN.

Meyer’s right on the fact that being a college analyst isn’t that hard of a job, because anyone with a decent knowledge of any sport could be that sport’s analyst. It isn’t hard to make up stupid catchphrases, talk a lot with your hands even when you’re not on camera, and let people get angry at you on Twitter. The best part is that you get paid way too much for it, and people get angry when they find out how much and claim that they can do it. Whoops, I just started the cycle over again.

They Are Who We Thought They Were: The Best Sports Moments Of 2010

Written by Ashley Burns / 01.05.11

While the entirety of the mainstream media began releasing Best Of lists in the first week of December, I wanted to wait as long as I possibly could to create my own, because of, you know, all of the games that take place throughout December. But who cares about college football anyway, right? Screw the bowl games and their rightful observation for prestigious consideration. And I was right to wait, because I originally had UConn’s winning streak in my Top 10 – I was trying to impress a girl – and now? *fart noise* Better luck next 90-game winning streak, Lady Huskies!

We had our fair share of great stories in 2010, those that made us feel good and appreciate the positive nature of competition on the grander scale. But screw all that, right? Our culture loves to witness failure and hoo boy did we have some failure this year! We had so many head-scratchers and stomach punches that there are certain athletes who could get their very own Top 10 lists. But they don’t deserve it. Hell, there are a few guys on the list you’re about to read that I wish we never had to talk about again.

I heartily expect everyone to disagree with my choices and where they rank, and that’s why I love sports and Top 10 lists – they both inspire the most nonsensical arguing outside of politics. As always, please share your thoughts, criticisms and misguided hatred for your parents in the comments.

With that said, here are my Top 10 sports moments of 2010…

Tim Tebow Is A Coach Killer

Written by JOSH Z / 12.08.10

Tim Tebow has played for two head coaches since 2006. They’re currently both out of work, albeit for sharply different reasons. Tebow’s pro coach, Josh McDaniels, was unceremoniously ousted before he could even finish his second season with the Denver Broncos. The quarterback’s college coach, Urban Meyer, just announced today that he was retiring for reasons unrelated to his health scare from a year ago. Lemme guess…spending time with his family?

“I have been a Division I football coach for the last 25 years and, during that time, my primary focus has been making a difference in the lives of the young men I have been so fortunate to have coached and building championship programs,” Meyer said in a statement. “At this time in my life, however, I fully grasp the sacrifices my 24/7 profession has demanded of me, and I know it is time to put my focus on my family and life away from the field.

–FanHouse.

Meanwhile, McDaniels was ousted by Broncos owner Pat Bowlen on Monday afternoon, partly because of his acquisition of Tebow–considered undraftable by many teams–with the 25th overall pick in the 2010 draft last April. And now Tebow might be on his way out of Denver as well, because obviously he causes nothing but heartache and strife everywhere he goes. Dang you, Tebow. Dang you to heck.

Settle Down, Florida Gators Fans

Written by Ashley Burns / 10.19.10

Fire Urban

Yesterday I showed a rare act of kindness to our Florida Gators friends and readers by not reveling in the fact that the team lost its third straight game for the first time in 22 years, dropped from the Top 25 rankings, and has fallen into a world of uncertainty and chaos. And while I could have pointed out that the Gators’ offense looks as potent as my grandfather’s grandfather, I figured we could spare making cheap jokes about John Brantley changing his name to Tim Shebow. Besides, why should I do it when spoiled Gators fans are already turning an average season into a joke?

The fans behind FireCoachMeyer.com, which was started in 2004 when Meyer was first hired by Florida, are back in action after the Gators lost to Mississippi State University this weekend in a humiliating drought of offense. Despite the fact that Meyer has, you know, won two National Titles and cemented his status as one of the best coaches – if not the best – in college football, these fans want the Gators coach gone because they’re apparently not in the mood for the concept of rebuilding seasons.
