The New York Knicks Are Dark, And Full Of Terrors

Carmelo Anthony Game of Thrones

If there’s one thing fans of ‘Game Of Thrones’ love, it’s dubstep. And if there’s one thing fans of dubstep love, it’s Carmelo Anthony. Not sure how Carmelo Anthony fans and ‘Game Of Thrones’ fans relate, but I’m going to assume there’s a 100% overlap.

So … yeah, ‘Game Of Thrones’ season 3 premieres on HBO on March 31, and nothing has gotten me hyped quite like a guy who has no possible idea what Game Of Thrones is sitting on a prop from the show, holding a basketball, talking about great wars. Because, get it, wars where you cut peoples’ guts out are just like Knicks games. They both involve an imp, too, if you count Spike Lee.

Here’s the clip. Spoiler alert: Khaleesi brings the Miami Heat across the Narrow Sea and torches New York.

Katherine Webb Finally Made Her Debut On ABC’s Diving Show ‘Splash’

Written by Ashley Burns / 03.20.13

Katherine Webb with other people.

This has already been a paramount year for people who have long wondered why there aren’t more TV shows that feature celebrities jumping into swimming pools. Back in January, FOX debuted Stars in Danger: The High Dive and, soon after, ABC began filming its own celebrity diving show, Splash, which finally debuted last night.

There has been a lot of buzz around Splash ever since Stars in Danger made its debut – and especially because ABC canceled Don’t Trust the B for it, thus ruining my year – and last night America was able to see this latest batch of belly-floppers, including Miss Alabama USA and star of the BCS Championship Game, Katherine Webb.

March Mad Men, Because Mad Men And March Madness Had To Come Together Sometime

Written by Brandon Stroud / 03.15.13

Until somebody edits together a bunch of ‘Games Of Thrones’ characters discussing the college football playoff debate, here’s the best-ever instance of dramatic television characters being “sweet canned” into talking about sports: March Mad Men. Virginia Commonwealth University and 1960s Madison Avenue, together at last!

March Madness meets Mad Men. Don Draper, Roger Sterling, Ken Cosgrove, Peggy Olson, Pete Campbell, Betty Francis, and Bert Cooper have a lot at stake, and things are getting stressful. Who will win this year’s pool at Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce?

We need more basketball references on ‘Mad Men.’ We’re almost to that point in time when Lew Alcindor changes his name to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, right? That was 1968. Can season 6 of ‘Mad Men’ feature Don Draper lighting a cigarette with his brow all furrowed, complaining about how Kareem has signed his death warrant (or something equally dramatic) before getting all wistful about 8MM sky hook footage?

All I know is that I’m not picking Ohio State, because Pete said it with that look on his face. Who would Trudy pick? This is important.

Ekpe Udoh Traded From Milwaukee To St. Olaf

Written by Brandon Stroud / 03.07.13

Ekpe Udoh Betty White

Ekpe Udoh of the Milwaukee Bucks had one mission: meet beloved American actress/hacky commercial spokesperson Betty White. The only problem? He didn’t know how to do it.

Betty White Ekpe Udoh Tweet

It’s a good question, and who could blame him? Betty White is not only awesome in her own right, she’s the last remaining ‘Golden Girl.’ Bea Arthur, Rue McClanahan and Estelle Getty are all dead. It’s a reasonable goal, especially if you’ve got enough travel time and fame as an NBA player to make it come together.

As you can see by the photo at top of the post, Udoh made his dream come true with an LA-area visit to the set of ‘Hot In Cleveland.’ It was a long road, though. Here’s a quick look back at Udoh’s quest from Betty White inception to Betty White execution, courtesy of Twitter, and a little help from our friends at Ball Don’t Lie:

Written by Brandon Stroud / 02.07.13

Greendale Community College Calendar

Happy October 19th! Season 4 of NBC’s woefully-undersupported-by-anyone-without-a-Tumblr ‘Community’ begins tonight!

To celebrate, this week’s Sports On TV column looks back at the 20 greatest sports moments from the show’s first three seasons. It’s a confusing mass of spaceships and ‘Glee’ slams and paintball epics, and it’s absolutely worth revisiting and celebrating.

Here’s the best way to enjoy tonight’s premiere: read this column. Click the like button. Share it on Reddit or Facebook or Tumblr (especially Tumblr). Drop a comment in the comments section about your favorite episodes, moments, quotes and character pairings. Come up with a fun name for them (suggestion: StarPelt). Flip through the 20 greatest sports moments dozens of times over the next few hours. Then, totally forget that ‘Community’ actually comes on television and decide to watch it on Hulu tomorrow morning. Because guess what? That’s the only way ‘Community’ has ever worked.

Please enjoy ‘Community’s’ 20 Greatest, Streets Ahead Sports Moments.
