Yelena Isinbayeva is the greatest female pole vaulter her sport has ever seen. The first and only woman to clear 5 meters, she has dominated her field for the last five years, a feat that continues this summer. She needed just one jump in the rain on Friday to win the Golden League meet in Paris and keep her in the hunt for a $1 million dollar prize (the Golden League Jackpot goes to whichever athlete or athletes can win their event in six straight European meets — Isinbayeva is one of four athletes in the running after four meets).
Pictured below is Isinbayeva at the Golden League event in Rome earlier this month, which she also won (obviously). Pictured above? Well, that one’s from a couple years ago, but it’s one of my favorite shots of her. It’s a flattering angle, I think.
Some guy fell during the Penn Relays the other night, and it’s a good thing he wasn’t actually carrying a pen, because he almost certainly would have hurt himself. This event is called Steeplechase, where runners pretend they’re horses and jump over obstacles. The first one to realize that track is boring wins.
We all remember spearchucker Leryn Franco from her amazing Olympic performance sexy pictures. And now, via Hot Clicks, the word is that she’s inked a new deal with Nike for their clothing line.
When I first started writing this post, I was expecting to have a lot more information about this, but no: that’s really all the news that Hot Clicks had. But the rumor seems to have some veracity, as this story in Spanish from late last week seems to say the same thing. “Sensual atleta paraguaya Leryn Franco es el nuevo rostro de Nike” — I don’t speak Spanish, but that sounds like an ad campaign I can masturbate to.
Ah, the Olympic Games: that special quadrennial event that forges a new spirit of global unity through athletic compe– HOLY HELL LOOK AT THAT ASS. Ahem. As I was saying, the Olympics are an international event that introduces us to extremely sexy amateur athletes who may or may not garner acclaim for their skill in the arena.
Take, for example, Paraguay’s Leryn Franco. The javelin thrower (and runner-up in the Miss Paraguay and Miss Bikini Universe contests) finished 51st in Beijing this summer, yet she still became Yahoo’s most searched female Olympian. Because people were interested in learning more about the javelin event, no doubt.
After the Olympics, Franco returned to the spotlight when rumors swirled that she was at the U.S. Open to support alleged beau Novak Djokovic. Is it true? Are they an item? Who cares — it was a reason to look at her again.
Massive bruiser of a gallery, plus additional links, after the jump.
This video is compiled video footage of Carl Joseph, one of ten children in a one-parent home who had the additional setback of being born with only one leg. He played varsity football in the ’70s and was a standout in track, and now he’s been nominated for the Florida High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
This seems too fantastic to be true — or at least too amazing to have not gotten wider press before this — but I actually emailed the Florida HS Athletic Association, and it seems the nomination, at least, is real. And to that I say, holy crap. I couldn’t play high school football, and I had two legs [Note: I still do]. Mommy always said I was too delicate. And she was right :(
It’s been a while since we’ve checked in with our favorite Olympian, Argentine javelin thrower Leryn Franco. Some of the initial findings in August included photos from her calendar, but only now have extra shots from that photoshoot surfaced at pbase (via Hot Clicks). And by “only now” I mean “eight weeks ago.” Whatever. Do you wanna look at the sexy Latina athlete with the perfect ass or not?
After the jump, enjoy some truly astounding video of Leryn modeling a bikini and getting ice-cold water poured on her. And remember, she’s an Olymipc athlete, so please be respectful of the video, as it is most likely just some form of vigorous training we can’t understand. Sexy vigorous training.
