Update: Ronda Rousey Is A Sex Hypocrite

Ronda Rousey sex

FOREVER

A sex hypocrite. For sex hookers!

Okay, not really. But hey, remember that interview UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey gave to Jim Rome back in November where she said she tries to have as much sex as possible before she fights because it raises her testosterone levels? Remember how your response to that was probably, “I should try to hang out with Ronda Rousey as much as possible before she fights?”

If you are a TUF 18 fighter, do as Ronda says, not as Ronda does.

“If they’re the chick that was screwing around the house, for the rest of their career they’re going to be known as the chick that was screwing around the house. Sponsors are going to be looking at that. Everybody’s going to be looking at that,” she told MMA Junkie.

“If you think it’s $100,000 worth of that lay [ed. note - she talkin 'bout boning], then go for it, but I’m just going to remind them that there’s a lot of very permanent consequences to how they carry themselves in the house,” Rousey went on.

Of course, the situations aren’t identical. If you’re Ronda Rousey and you’re having sex in your personal day-to-day life, people are gonna give you the thumbs up. If you’re a contestant on a reality show with cameras filming you all the time, you’re already being judged and pop-culturally identified by what the editor chooses to use … the last thing you want is to bet the Trishelle of the female coaches season. Maybe the Brynn, but not the Trishelle.

I think the fighters on TUF should listen to whatever Ronda says, and if she tells them she’ll fine them for not jumping off a bridge, they should jump the hell off a bridge. If not for the wisdom and advice, do it for armbar avoidance.

With Leather Live Discussion: The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale

Written by Ashley Burns / 04.12.13

Okay, so our last live discussion didn’t go over so well because of that whole 1 PM on a Final Four Saturday thing, but now we’re back with primetime FREE FIGHTS and the Ultimate Fighter 17 finale on an otherwise boring sports weekend, so we have no excuses. Help me help you, and let’s use tomorrow night to decide a theme for the next series of With Leather UFC badges. You make the suggestions, you make the decisions, I’ll make the badges, and then I’ll cap it off by debuting some new WL/UFC t-shirts and I’ll give some out to our favorite live discussers.

That said, like most of us pugilistic poop-joke-makers, I’m very excited about the potential of this card. The last few events have reminded me not to get my hopes up too much for awesome fights across the board, and I’m also bummed that we’re not getting a flyweight championship match. Get better soon, Demetrious Johnson.

But there are several fighters on this card that could provide some fun, and hopefully the younger guys can challenge each other for several Fight of the Night contenders this time and not just the usual, “Yup, it’s that one”. I think the women’s division’s real test comes tomorrow night, as we get to see if Miesha Tate and Cat Zingano can back up their yapping and convince any of us that they could beat Ronda Rousey. And, of course, I’m giddy as a schoolboy to see Uriah Hall fight Kelvin Gastelum.

Joe Rogan Is A Total Professional

Joe Rogan Dana White reaction

Not sure if Juggies ...

Joe Rogan is a forward-thinking gentleman with a great understanding of women. He’s absolutely the guy you want standing next to you, sending nonverbal cues to the audience as you announce the female coaches and fighters on the next cycle of ‘The Ultimate Fighter,’ a very important show to the continued mainstream success of your MMA company.

With that in mind, here’s Joe Rogan’s face during Dana White’s TUF announcement. Watch it closely and see if you can figure out what he’s thinking. Spoiler: he’s thinking, “this is a great idea and women are people.”

With Leather’s Watch This: At Least The Toronto Raptors Have Rachel McAdams

Written by Ashley Burns / 02.26.13

At 23-34, the Toronto Raptors aren’t having a great season, by any means, but they’re still only 4.5 games out of the 8th playoff spot in the mostly terrible NBA Eastern Conference. Despite the lingering possibility of playoff hopes, Raptors fans shouldn’t get too excited about basketball in late April, so they should just be happy that Rachel McAdams was on hand to watch the Raptors lose to the 18-37 Washington Wizards last night.

I don’t mean to be a dick to Toronto fans, though, but I think the NBA should imply new rules about the attractiveness of female celebrities at courtside. Like, the Raptors aren’t the worst team in the NBA, but they don’t deserve McAdams. Maybe Avril Lavigne.

Also, Selena Gomez can’t sit courtside for Lakers games until they’re at least in a playoff spot. Until then, the Lakers can only have Amanda Bynes. And Kirstie Alley will sit next to me at Magic games. I think I’m on to something here.

The UFC Women Who Aren’t Ronda Rousey Are Unimpressed With Ronda Rousey

Written by Ashley Burns / 02.26.13

Prior to Saturday’s UFC 157 pay-per-view, I worried that if Ronda Rousey pulled off a huge victory over Liz Carmouche in the first ever UFC women’s match, the countdown to the women’s division becoming a novelty could suddenly speed up like a bomb clock in a bad spy movie. Instead, it seems that most people – at least those not shouting, “BOOBY!” during one key moment – were rather pleased with Rousey’s first round submission victory and Carmouche’s potential.

At the very least, it prompted the UFC to sign four more female fighters, but we don’t care about them right now, because they’re not the women running their mouths. That distinction belongs to Miesha Tate and Cat Zingano, who will face each other on April 13 at the Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale in Las Vegas. Maybe they’re just upset about Rousey getting all the attention, but these ladies just weren’t impressed.

With Leather’s Watch This: Time To Watch Last Night’s ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ Again

Written by Ashley Burns / 02.06.13

In case you missed it last night, UFC President Dana White was Tweeting like crazy about a knockout in the fight on last night’s The Ultimate Fighter on FX. Granted, he didn’t realize that he was spoiling it for the entire west coast, but in White’s defense – as you can see in the above GIF – it was f*cking awesome.

The man flashing that wheel kick was Uriah Hall, who is a member of Team (Chael) Sonnen, and the dude on the receiving end of this foot is Team (Jon) Jones’ Adam Cella. One of White’s Tweets suggested that Cella was out cold for 4 minutes, and if that’s the case, then I hope everything is kosher and dandy, but still… ouch.

For further GIF awesomeness, check out this unfortunately-too-large-to-upload GIF that features the kick from every angle. Wowzers.
