The Washington Redskins And Racism, A Taiwan Animation Essay

Written by Brandon Stroud / 06.14.13

Taiwan Animation tackled the sensitive issue of “football is more important than any other social issue” and the racism of the Washington Redskins name. When Taiwan is calling you racist and backing it up with hard evidence, you should probably just fold and call them Washington Football Team. I want one of those “Tennessee Inbreds” helmets, though.

Dwyane Wade Loses A Leg In Taiwan Animation’s NBA Playoffs Recap

Written by Brandon Stroud / 06.04.13

dwyane-wade-taiwan-animation

Earlier today I posted a list of the 5 things you should see from last night’s NBA Eastern Conference Finals Game 7 between the Miami Heat and the Indiana Pacers. Taiwan’s Next Media Animation did something similar … only the stuff they saw only exists in their batshit brains.

Highlights from Taiwan animation’s Game 7 recap include Dwyane Wade’s leg snapping off at the knee and gushing blood, Chris Bosh discovering that he is a ghost, Roy Hibbert’s memory operating like somebody’s Vine and a Cleveland Cavaliers LeBron James doppelgänger laying waste to his Miami Heat counterpart. It’s weird, but that’s to be expected. Taiwan’s also really into this thing now where they make basketball players look like NBA Jam characters instead of interchangeable mannequins, which I enjoy.

Video is after the jump. I would consider it a prerequisite to watching the NBA Finals. You know Taiwan’s already working on 50 different ways to say Tim Duncan is old.

Taiwan Animation Covers The Anchored Putter Ban, Fried Chicken-Gate, Caddyshack

Written by Brandon Stroud / 05.24.13

The anchored putter ban controversy is big, but not so big that Taiwan Animation couldn’t devote 20 seconds to Tiger Woods dumping a bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken on Sergio Garcia’s head. Way to make Tiger pitch black, Taiwan.

Kobe Bryant’s Injury Gets The Taiwan Animation Treatment, And Also Jeremy Lin Is There

Written by Brandon Stroud / 04.18.13

Interested in learning more about Kobe Bryant’s injury and its impact on the Los Angeles Lakers? Then turn to the only people who matter in sports reporting, Taiwan’s Next Media Animation. They gave everybody big heads, have Kobe sobbing in a wheelchair and even managed to cram in a Jeremy Lin reference. Note: Jeremy Lin has a regular sized head. Because Taiwan? (h/t to Josh Mendoza)

Taiwan Animation Recapped The NCAA Championship Game, Made The Wolverine Joke

Written by Brandon Stroud / 04.10.13

Taiwan Michigan Wolverines

All I could think of while watching this clip was, “man, I wish Taiwan Animation did all of Marvel’s animated movies.” And hell, the special effects here are at least as good as the ones in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Anyway, the amazing thing about Next Media Animation’s recap of the NCAA Championship Game is that the weirdest moment doesn’t come during the game, it’s Taiwan’s interpretation of what an American office looks like. A lady dressed like Minnie Mouse causes a Georgetown fan to literally explode with rage because he lost the pool. It’s … weird.

But you knew that already. Here’s the clip:

NASCAR Fans Vs. Taiwan Animation, A Battle For The Ages

Written by Brandon Stroud / 02.26.13

Next Media Animation’s “Taiwan Animation” of the Daytona crash has all the absurdity and hyperbole you’d expect — fans being killed and turned into cheering ghosts, all the cars being Toyota Corollas because they don’t have a stock car stock animation, NASCAR literally erasing the video from YouTube — but the best part is easily the fact that nobody at NMA thought, “hey, it’s probably a bad idea to ask NASCAR fans what they think of this insulting, wacky parody video made by Asians.”

From the YouTube description:

As every NASCAR fan knows, you come for the crashes and stay for the races. But are NASCAR officials taking fan safety seriously enough?

NASCAR fans are stoic. Talk to any fan and they will admit to accepting some level of risk when watching the races live. Furthermore, the fine print on the back of admissions tickets would seem to absolve race officials of liability if fans are injured.

But despite the risks, are NASCAR officials doing enough to ensure no fan is ever hurt? Leave your thoughts in the comments.

Predictably, NASCAR fans left their thoughts.
