MCNAIR, GF’S DEATH RULED MURDER-SUICIDE

Written by JOSH Z / 07.08.09

The Nashville Police Department made their official ruling on the case regarding the killings of Steve McNair and his girlfriend with that really ethnic name that I don’t really feel like looking up at the moment, according to Pro Football Talk:

Investigators believe McNair was sleeping at the time on the sofa when he was shot in the right temple then twice in the chest before shooting him again in the left temple before [Sahel] Kazemi shot herself in the right temple and died.

“After nearly four days of intensive investigation, we have determined that Steve McNair was murderd by Sahel Kazemi and Sahel Kazemi killed herself,” the Chief said. “The totality of the evidence clearly points to a murder-suicide.

“All five shell casings match the weapon, all five bullets were recovered and match the gun. Gunpowder residue was found on her left hand, not enough for a conclusive result. There was none on McNair’s hands.”

This whole thing is just so damn sad. Of course, it would have been a laugh riot if it happened to Eddie George, but I digress. I can imagine that some of the more “ambitious” married men in the NFL will take notice of this and adjust their actions accordingly. As in not dating anyone whose name rhymes with Kazemi. Four bullets? Really? What, she couldn’t find an airplane to fly through his chest?

SARAH PALIN KILLED STEVE MCNAIR…MAYBE

Written by JOSH Z / 07.06.09

There’s really nothing else to be said right now about Steve McNair’s murder without sounding like that guy that thinks he knows what’s going on but clearly is devoid of any GD clue as to what’s going on. And I hate that guy. But the big question remains: do you think McNair will get to see Michael Jackson’s first concert in heaven? You know, assuming a guy that allegedly raped a bunch of kids got into heaven.

Anyway, the one detail that caught my interest was the notion that the girl–Sahel Kazemi, 20–said that McNair was getting a divorce, but that McNair’s wife had no idea that such a thing was happening. But don’t married guys say that all the time to get into a younger girl’s pants? That’s what her family seems to think. From The Tennessean (no, not thatTennessean):

“We met him because I don’t watch football and didn’t know who he was,” said Farzin Abdi, Kazemi’s nephew, who was in town from Jacksonville, Fla. to retrieve the body. “We went out to dinner and she was so happy and was having fun. Were we happy about the relationship? No.”

“I don’t know if he had filed for divorce but I thought it wouldn’t happen,” Abdi said, adding that Kazemi was a child when adopted into the family after her mother died in Iran. Abdi’s mother is Kazemi’s sister.

McNair’s memorial service will be held Thursday in Nashville. And by then, Blogfrica will have rounded up a bizarre list of suspects, the top ten reasons why it should have been Brett Favre killed instead, and several photoshopped images of McNair trying to outrun any of a number of tasteless objects. And it’ll still be better than anything ESPN pumps out.

R.I.P. STEVE MCNAIR, VICTIM OF MURDER-SUICIDE

Written by Matt / 07.04.09

UPDATE: Looks like it was murder-suicide committed by his extramarital girlfriend. Yikes.

Former NFL quarterback Steve McNair was found dead today in downtown Nashville after suffering a fatal gunshot wound to the head.   McNair, a former third-overall pick for the Houston Oilers, was the centerpiece of the new Tennessee Titans, leading them to their only Super Bowl appearance and earning three trips to the Pro Bowl and a share of the 2003 NFL MVP.  From Nashville’s NewsChannel 5 (via KSK):

A crowd began to gather in the area where Steve McNair’s body was found Saturday afternoon.

“When police officers arrived in response to that call, they found two individuals who had been shot to death inside the residence: one female, one male. We now know that the male deceased is Steve McNair. The female deceased has been tentatively identified. We’re working to confirm that and then notify her next of kin,” said Don Aaron with Metro Police on the situation.

No suspects have been taken into custody as of yet, and we can only hope that the female victim is not his wife, Mechelle.  McNair is survived by four sons, including Steve Jr., a highly touted college prospect at wide receiver.

So, uh, happy 4th of July?

PSA: MISSISSIPPI, BELIEVE IT!

Written by Matt / 12.04.06

This image is part of a series of print ads that, according to the Mississippi, Believe It! website, "share little-known facts about our great state … and the people who make it great."

So, little known fact: Mississippians wear shoes. I guess we can consider this ad campaign a rousing success.

(Thanks to SbB; also, you can see the full ad here.)
