MORE DETAILS IN MCNAIR MURDER-SUICIDE

Written by JOSH Z / 10.20.09

The release of a new report from the Nashville Police Department has raised questions over the handing of the Steve McNair murder-suicide investigation. As police work on a summary investigation, one television program has pointed out apparent inconsistencies in the investigation.

Investigators concluded that [Sahel] Kazemi, 20, was drowning in debt and despondent over realizations that McNair was dating other women and wasn’t going to leave his wife for her.

Metro police spokesman Don Aaron declined to comment on anything contained in the 14-page report. The CBS report stated that Kazemi had more than $2,500 in the bank, contradicting the police explanation that Kazemi was distraught over money and the unraveling relationship. But text messages between the two suggest that $2,000 of that money came from McNair on the evening before his murder.

The report also included a text-message exchange between McNair and Kazemi from the day before they were found dead in a Nashville-area condo. Read the rest of this entry »

MCNAIR ‘TRIBUTE’ REMOVED FROM PARK DISPLAY

Written by JOSH Z / 09.24.09

A Cincinnati-area amusement park has removed one of its more amusing [to me] attractions. A display of skeletons arranged to resemble the dead bodies of Steve McNair and that one kid has was bangin’ have been removed from King’s Island, based in Mason, Ohio. Represent, yo:

Kings Island Amusement Park’s Halloween Haunt features skeletal renditions of various celebrities, including Heath Ledger surrounded by pill bottles, Farrah Fawcett in her iconic red tank top, pitchman Billy Mays, and a pajama-clad Michael Jackson.

“You’re gonna see Ted Kennedy, Ed McMahon, and there’s still other ones yet to be placed,” Kings Island spokesman Don Helbig told Cincinatti NBC affiliate WLWT. via.

McNair’s Nashville restaurant, by the way, is still closed, which is too bad, because this is probably the only time they’d drum up any business… Read the rest of this entry »

VINCE YOUNG IS DADDY FOR A DAY

Written by JOSH Z / 09.17.09

Tennessee Titans backup quarterback Vince Young hasn’t seen the field since he was benched in Week 1 of last season, but he’s been keeping busy. And you might want to grab a tissue, because it’s about to get a little misty in here:

Young surprised [the two young sons of the late Steve McNair] 11-year-old Trenton and 5-year-old Tyler on Wednesday by showing up at their house and taking them to their school’s “Dear Dads Breakfast” at a local restaurant.

“Those are my boys,” Young told the Tennessean. “I wouldn’t say it was to pay anyone back; it was just out of love. Steve would do it for me. He pretty much did it for me when I was growing up. I have a history with the boys and I want to do anything I can. I am their big brother.” via, via.

One of the disappointing things about the way that everyone covered Steve McNair’s death [us included] was how little discussion was devoted to the wife and four kids that he left behind. Those first few days back in school must have been great for those kids. Hey, what happened to your dad? Oh, he was murdered by his secret girlfriend right before she turned the gun on herself. Just horribly tragic. And I thought I had it bad in school for being teased about wearing Asics…

ARREST MADE IN STEVE MCNAIR’S MURDER

Written by JOSH Z / 07.17.09

The man that allegedly sold the gun used to kill former NFL quarterback Steve McNair is now in the custody of federal authorities. Although the person was only identified by anonymous sources as “a convicted felon,” it’s not a tremendous leap to presume that the person being detained could be Keith Norfleet, the ex-boyfriend of Sahel Kazemi. Kazemi, Nashville police determined, shot McNair four times before fatally shooting herself in the head almost two weeks ago.

Keith Norfleet had moved with Sahel “Jenny” Kazemi from Jacksonville, Fla., where he lived with his sister, nearly four years ago, family said. They started out with odd jobs before he settled into a position at White Castle. Kazemi worked as a waitress at several establishments before landing a job at Dave & Buster’s in Opry Mills, Joseph Norfleet [Keith's father] said.

His father said Keith Norfleet received hateful e-mails and vitriolic comments at a rapid clip after rap songs he recorded turned up on the Internet. One song is eerily similar to the events of July 4: a song called “Closed Casket,” where he raps about a cheating couple and putting bullets in both their heads.

But Keith Norfleet said, through family, that the song had nothing to do with his ex-girlfriend and McNair. via

I totally believe him. I mean, why would he lie? You know, other than to beat a federal charge of accessory to murder. Read the rest of this entry »

SAHEL KAZEMI, HER ESCALADE AND HER CAT

Written by JOSH Z / 07.09.09

Loyal reader and noted sex machine Brad was good enough to forward us these pics of Sahel Kazemi. Some of these you’ve seen before, but a lot of these are new, and we’re pretty sure these are all images of the 20-year-old woman that was dating Steve McNair before both parties’ tragic demise.

MCNAIR’S ANTI-SUICIDE PSA, DUI VIDEO, MORE

Written by JOSH Z / 07.09.09

UPDATE: More pics of Kazemi here.

Here are a few more odds and ends regarding the Steve McNair-Sahel Kazemi in the wake of the murder-suicide ruling by Nashville police. This might be review for some of you, but it should bring everyone else up to speed:

  • Deuce of Davenport found video of Kazemi’s DUI arrest on July 2; Fanhouse has audio of the 911 call. It’s about what you’d expect. The DUI vid is grainy as hell and the 911 call will haunt your dreams, though I did appreciate the colloquial greeting, “What’s up, man? It’s 911.”
  • The Titans allowed grieving McNair fans to visit LP field, opening up the stadium where McNair played the bulk of his 13 seasons in the NFL. About 4,000 fans visited to pay tribute, some reportedly driving from 10 hours away to sign albums and watch video tributes of the former Alcorn State star.
  • Kazemi reportedly bought the gun from a private individual outside of a Dave & Busters, which is significant, as such a sale would be harder to prosecute than, say, a sale from an established gun dealer. Kazemi reportedly bought the gun WZTV reports that Kazemi, who was only 20, would not have been old enough to buy a handgun from such a dealer. Kazemi’s gun purchase might have been the biggest component in the murder-suicide ruling, especially in the absence of any clear motive.
  • McNair had been working with the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities to produce an anti-suicide PSA for TV, according to FanIQ. The ad was still in the editing phase when Kazemi killed McNair and then herself. A spokesperson for the agency said that the ad will not be brought to air, which is probably good, since it seems that McNair did not possess much influence in that specific area to begin with.
  • McNair was a warrior. Of course he was.
  • Oh, and A Pakistan News has pictures of Kazemi with all of the watermarks smeared out.

In conclusion, cheating on your wife is bad. Not just “Oh, I wanted to wear that blue shirt to work but it’s dirty” bad. Like…really, really bad. But if you really have to cheat on your wife, um, I guess if it’s like an emergency or something, don’t sleep on the couch. It’s bad for back, anyway. Especially when someone puts a couple of bullets in it.
