Fun Times In Cleveland Today…

Written by JOSH Z / 12.23.10

Two bits of fun news coming out of Cleveland, but let’s hit them one at a time. First, the powers that be at Cleveland’s Progressive Field found a way to actually get people to the stadium–host events not featuring a horrible baseball team.

As part of what the team calls Snow Days, the site’s centerpieces are a 10-lane tubing hill named the batterhorn that stretches from the middle of the bleachers into right field, and a quarter-mile ice skating track called the frozen mile — the first of its kind in the United States, the Indians say — that zips past the warning track, second base, the bullpens and underneath the bleachers.

“People can go somewhere and tube, they can go somewhere and ice skate, but they can’t do it in a setting like this, with the entertainment that our scoreboard group’s provided, the Christmas lights on the field; it’s just a completely unique entertainment option,” said Mark Shapiro, the team’s president and a person more accustomed to talking about pitchers and catchers. –NYT.

That sounds a helluva lot better than, oh I don’t know, watching the Indians, who finished a paltry 25 games out of first place in the AL Central last fall. They should just leave that slide up through the start of the season. It can’t be any more bastardly than playing with the designated hitter.

ROLLER BLADING IS DANGEROUS

What's the hardest part about roller blading?  Trying to tell your parents you're gay when you have a broken jaw and several missing teeth.

BARON DAVIS IS F’N SEXY

Written by Matt / 12.11.07

Thanks to badass tipster Josh, I can't begin to guess why the hell Warriors point guard Baron Davis is wearing short-shorts and roller skates… which is why I'm glad YouTube clips come with descriptions:

In this clip from FRAMED, actress Emmanuelle Chriqui of "Entourage" and two time NBA All-Star Baron Davis take a trip through time as they hunt for the perfect wardrobe for Baron's short film, "One Shot."

I'm not sure what FRAMED is, but there's something about this being a show on the IFC Channel.  But I don't know what the IFC Channel is, so I'm still pretty clueless.

Anyway, it's nice that Emanuelle moved on from Entourage (a show by douchebags, about douchebags, for douchebags). I always enjoyed how retarded dipshits counted her as a legitimate reason to watch the most overrated show in history.  Sure thing, guy.  And On the Line was awesome, too.  I especially liked the part where Lance Bass played a straight dude.

ROLLER BLADES ARE DANGEROUS, GAY

Written by Matt / 08.06.07

The Chinese have designed and developed a gas-powered roller blade.

With a 25cc engine attached to the right boot along with a small fuel tank, they carry the wearer along at up to 20mph. They are controlled using a handheld throttle and can reach maximum speed within seconds. But there is no brake. The only way of stopping is a shut-off button which acts like an emergency stop, throwing the skater forward at speed. If they were legal they would be classed as a motorised vehicle and the user would need a driving licence, insurance and L-plates [plates on skates? -Edit.].

It sounds like the perfect black market gift for that special person in your life who loves danger but has already been to a Thai cathouse and who wants to look like a pussy but already has a Vespa.  And look!  It's already available in Florida!  Thanks Craigslist!
