Back in February, UFC Women’s Champion and With Leather’s First Lady of Fighting, Ronda Rousey, discussed her newfound status as a sex symbol on Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel. Of this new and growing fascination and adoration that men and women alike have established for her, Rousey said:

“I don’t really see myself as a sex symbol because ever since people started calling me a sex symbol, I haven’t had less sex in my life. It’s not really working out great for me. People bring that up all the time. I’m like, Look, you’re right. I probably get more attention fighting because of how I look, but if I didn’t know how to fight and I just looked the way I did, no one would know who I am.”

I think she meant that she’s had less sex, and that’s a shame, because [insert stupid, generic macho BS line here] but the fact remains that she is a sex symbol, because she is very attractive and charming, and she did grace the cover of the ESPN Body Issue sans clothing.

And sure, it’s adorable that she referred to her completely naked body as her “cash and prizes” while refusing to ever pose for Playboy, but they’re still somewhat on display in her newest magazine appearance – a tastefully naked spread in Maxim‘s Hot 100.

UFC Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey graces the cover of ESPN the Magazine for the second time in her already storied career as a professional ass-kicker, this time as part of the Worldwide Network’s publication’s celebration of 15 years as a magazine. Man, I can’t believe that it has really been 15 years since the Mag started arriving at my home in terrible condition because it was bigger than my other magazines so the mailman needed to cram it into my slot… wait, that’s the story of how I was conceived.

Anyway, like I said, this is Rousey’s second cover, as she made her first appearance on/in the 2012 Body Issue. Don’t remember that one? That’s okay, I’ve got it right here.

A sex hypocrite. For sex hookers!

Okay, not really. But hey, remember that interview UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey gave to Jim Rome back in November where she said she tries to have as much sex as possible before she fights because it raises her testosterone levels? Remember how your response to that was probably, “I should try to hang out with Ronda Rousey as much as possible before she fights?”

If you are a TUF 18 fighter, do as Ronda says, not as Ronda does.

“If they’re the chick that was screwing around the house, for the rest of their career they’re going to be known as the chick that was screwing around the house. Sponsors are going to be looking at that. Everybody’s going to be looking at that,” she told MMA Junkie.

“If you think it’s $100,000 worth of that lay [ed. note - she talkin 'bout boning], then go for it, but I’m just going to remind them that there’s a lot of very permanent consequences to how they carry themselves in the house,” Rousey went on.

Of course, the situations aren’t identical. If you’re Ronda Rousey and you’re having sex in your personal day-to-day life, people are gonna give you the thumbs up. If you’re a contestant on a reality show with cameras filming you all the time, you’re already being judged and pop-culturally identified by what the editor chooses to use … the last thing you want is to bet the Trishelle of the female coaches season. Maybe the Brynn, but not the Trishelle.

I think the fighters on TUF should listen to whatever Ronda says, and if she tells them she’ll fine them for not jumping off a bridge, they should jump the hell off a bridge. If not for the wisdom and advice, do it for armbar avoidance.

Joe Rogan is a forward-thinking gentleman with a great understanding of women. He’s absolutely the guy you want standing next to you, sending nonverbal cues to the audience as you announce the female coaches and fighters on the next cycle of ‘The Ultimate Fighter,’ a very important show to the continued mainstream success of your MMA company.

With that in mind, here’s Joe Rogan’s face during Dana White’s TUF announcement. Watch it closely and see if you can figure out what he’s thinking. Spoiler: he’s thinking, “this is a great idea and women are people.”

Erin Andrews gets the hover hand treatment.

Last we checked in on Cris “Cyborg” Santos, her and her manager Tito Ortiz were asking Dana White for her release from the UFC because she believed if she cut enough weight to qualify for a match against Ronda Rousey, she would die. Santos did, however, mention that she’d be willing to fight Rousey at 140 if the UFC Women’s Champion would meet her in the middle, but UFC President Dana White said at that point it wouldn’t even be for a title. Oh, and he also said that Santos was basically scared.

Now, as Santos is preparing for her upcoming Invicta fight, she’s still calling Rousey out for being too scared to add five pounds and fight her for basically no reason other than they hate each other, which, in fairness, is still a pretty damn good reason. And Santos simply won’t stand for Rousey calling her a fraud.
