With Leather Live Discussion: UFC 160

Written by Ashley Burns / 05.25.13

For this UFC 160 Live Discussion, which has been hailed by Queen Elizabeth II as the second-best UFC PPV live discussion on the Internet behind her own, I decided to lead with the Taylor Swift/Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva mashup because it’s a lot better than the other video than I’ve included, as it features significantly less blood pouring out of Silva’s face holes.

But here we are, on the eve of UFC 160 and the rematch of Silva and UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez. Silva is coming off the surprising statement knockout victory over Alistair Overeem at UFC 156 back in February, while Velasquez is riding high following his rematch victory for the title against Junior dos Santos at UFC 155. Of course, it’s worth noting that Velsaquez’s last three fights included two against dos Santos and one against Silva – which wasn’t a title match – so his training has been very specific.

And in case you don’t quite recall how that last match against Silva ended, well, make sure you’re not eating…

Nick Diaz Isn’t Retiring, Wants A Rematch Against Georges St-Pierre

Written by Ashley Burns / 03.27.13

"Yo I said best of 9."

Hey, remember when Georges St-Pierre defeated Nick Diaz at UFC 158 by unanimous decision after he spent five rounds dropping Stockton’s finest on the ground and completely eliminating his ability to box? And remember how, after all of the horrible things that GSP and Diaz had been saying about each other leading up to the fight, GSP and Diaz were like, “Yeah, that was all fake and we really respect each other”? Oh, and remember how Diaz was also like, “I’m probably going to jail because I don’t pay taxes, so I’m going to retire”?

Well, go ahead and forget everything except for that first part, because Diaz isn’t retiring and his team is back to crapping all over GSP, because they think that St-Pierre either needs to forfeit his belt an cough up part of his PPV purse or Dana White and the UFC need to schedule a rematch. Oh Nick Diaz, you can’t ever leave us.

With Leather Live Discussion: UFC 155

Written by Ashley Burns / 12.28.12

"Boop! Got your nose!"

Well it’s taken long enough, am I right, fight fans? We were promised this rematch between Junior dos Santos and Cain Velasquez as far back as May, after both fighters won their respective matches at UFC 146. And we wanted this rematch because, let’s face it, their first fight was a real turd in the punch bowl. Obviously, dos Santos won the UFC Heavyweight Championship from Velasquez at UFC on FOX last year, and it was a huge letdown because we wanted 5 rounds of pure, unfiltered ass-kickery and instead we got a knockout after a whopping minute of action.

Will we get something different this time, as these scrappy fellas headline UFC 155 in Las Vegas tomorrow night? I have no idea. I’m not psychic. If I were, I wouldn’t be talking to you guys about this fight, because I’d be in Vegas betting the millions that I already won on the previous fights that we’ve watched. Geez, use your brains.

As for the rest of the card, you’re not going to see any of the most recognizable names in UFC, but I think we’re in for an evening of intense fights featuring hungry dudes who want to become household fighters. As always, I’ve included the breakdown of the fight card – this time with a special tribute to With Leather’s First Lady of Booty Kicking, Gina Carano – and you can also check out our good friend Lobster Mobster’s primer for UFC 155 on her blog.
