Reggie Bush Would Like His Privacy

Written by Ashley Burns / 05.16.11

Of the things that New Orleans Saints running back Reggie Bush is famous for, perhaps the most notable is his past relationship with Kim Kardashian – a girl who is famous because she filmed herself having sex with Brandy’s brother – followed by that time he had to give his Heisman Trophy back for taking gifts in college and maybe that time he pushed Matt Leinart into the end zone. But mainly he’s known for being Ray Jay’s sloppy seconds and sending Kim on a wild roller coaster of dating professional athletes.

Now, though, Reggie is back in the dating game, as he has been romantically linked* to Rihanna, who is famous because she’s really talented, but also because Chris Brown punched her repeatedly. This is certainly a case of trading in a Honda Civic for a Bentley, if that Civic has a huge ass and equally talentless, nihilistic siblings.

Editorial: Reggie Bush Must Apologize For Using the L-Word

Written by Brandon Stroud / 05.10.11

Reggie Bush, enjoying the lockout

Lesbians?

Kobe Bryant and LeBron James have drawn fire recently for their use of gay slurs and the word “retarded” (sometimes simultaneously), but nothing as been quite as serious as today’s Tweets from New Orleans Saints temporary running back Reggie Bush. In an attempt at “humor,” Mr. Bush used the L-word, prompting an immediate and thorough negative feedback from both people who can and cannot properly use the word “your.”

Here is an image of the Tweets, but I have to warn you, the situation is quite severe.

jokes

Tweets in response to Reggie Bush being friendly include “yeah cause people wanna see football, dick!!,” “because your a spoiled lazy fool. Screw all the fans so you can vacation while we’re getting killed at the pump. Doushe bag!,” and the incredibly biting “@reggie_bush you seem to be working hard to get better #not”

As a journalist, it is my duty to challenge Mr. Bush, and ask him to consider how painful his choice of language can be to both his peers and fans and apologize. After all, this sort of blanket lambasting of the NFL’s efforts can be tolerated. #not

Better Than His “Goodbye Forever Kim Kardashian’s Vagina” Tweet

Written by Brandon Stroud / 04.29.11

oh ray j, oh my god ray j!

In a Tweet that might as well have read “going 2 new england brb,” Reggie Bush reacted to the Saints trading back into the first round to draft Alabama running back Mark Ingram by going on the Internet, giving up completely and spending the rest of the day Googling “Reggie Bush.”

Via Twitter, the best place to say things like this:

lol keep it real

About three hours later, Bush tweeted, “Congrats to Mark Ingram on being selected to New Orleans. He will be a great addition to the Saints backfield just as he was in Alabama,” so maybe he was just talking about the Hornets. Or he sent his Twitter password to his publicist.

Ingram gives the Saints a cheaper option at running back, and with a backfield that already includes Pierre Thomas and Chris Ivory, I guess Reggie has seen the writing on the wall. Now he’s got to e-mail the guy that made his wallpaper and get him to photoshop in a bunch of Saints-nonspecific “Reggie Bush is awesome” pictures.

Another Reason To Hate College Football

Written by JOSH Z / 01.13.11

I’m sad that college football is over, mostly because we’ve officially entered the stretch where basketball highlights dominate SportsCenter, which will soon be joined by baseball highlights, which are really just bland permutations of:

Hbb = { [homerun + divingcatch + doubleplay] x (RedSox)(Yankees) } x ∞

I get it. Anyway, look for even fewer college football highlights next year, when the NCAA’s expansion of the so-called “Reggie Bush Rule” takes effect.

The era of Reggie Bush’s somersaulting into the end zone the way he did during his heyday at Southern California is over. And next season, if a player in college football is penalized for excessive celebration while scoring a touchdown, the penalty will take the touchdown off the board. Through this season, a penalty was assessed on the kickoff.

“I think it changes the complexion of the rule,” Auburn Coach Gene Chizik said. “There is no question about it.”

–NYT.

This is insane; I’m almost at a loss. There are plenty of appropriate ways to penalize celebration without ripping a hole in the flow of the actual game. I’m not a fan of some of the demonstrative antics that we’re seeing in sports whenever some athletes wants attention for not getting a certain call or getting his only first down of the game. And this will effectively change that culture in college football in 99.9 percent of those instances, but the one time where a kid hops around in front of a camera in a close game next season will be absolutely tragic. It’ll be Kansas State-Syracuse to the power of ten, and that’s not a compliment.

This Week In Chicks Who Bang Athletes

Written by Ashley Burns / 12.08.10

Kim Kardashian recently wrapped up her miserable failure World AIDS Day fundraiser by taking time out to update E! Online about her dating life. And she’s back to ruining the value of another professional athlete. This time her victim is New Jersey Nets forward Kris Humphries. No offense to Kris, as I’m sure he’s a good guy, but Kim has clearly gone from Red Lobster to Long John Silver’s.

Kim told the people who provide news to morons that she’s been enjoying the single life, so this more than likely means that Humphries, who has never averaged more than 24 minutes per game in a season, is just a bench spot speed bump on the highway to HPV supremacy. Kardashian, who is famous because she made a sex tape with a rapper we’d never heard of, also said that she’s done ruining the careers of NFL players. Responded everyone who had Miles Austin in fantasy football this season, “Gee, thanks.”

“No,” she replied when I asked her if she’s hesitant to date another pro at the launch of her Brissmor watch line last night, “But I probably would never date a footballer again!” Apparently hooking up with the likes of Reggie Bush and Miles Austin has ruined the NFL for her! (Via E! Online)

ROFL! It’s funny because she ruined the NFL for them, too. At least Reggie got a Super Bowl victory for his career before her obvious witch spell completed his transformation to completely useless fumbletard. As for Austin, he barely dated the girl and he’s having an entirely forgettable season. Poor Kris. He’s averaging just over 7 points per game as it is. He could end up negative. Although, there are worse things than dating a Kardashian and being declared negative.

Cam Newton Can Play…And USC Is Pretty Bent About That

Written by JOSH Z / 12.02.10

Auburn quarterback Cam Newton is the beneficiary of a bizarre NCAA ruling that would allow him to be eligible to play this Saturday in the SEC Championship game against South Carolina. The governing body of intercollegiate athletics said, in a nutshell, that Cam is still in the clear since he apparently didn’t know that his father was shopping him to other schools for cash, which seems contrary to the ruling that put Southern Cal’s football team on probation earlier this year.

[Southern Cal athletic director Pat] Haden, who succeeded Mike Garrett in August, said the Newton ruling is at odds with how USC is attempting to educate athletes and their parents regarding NCAA rules.

“I was always told the parent is the child,” Haden said. “That’s what we’ve been telling our kids. If the parent does something inappropriate the child suffers the consequences.”

USC is scheduled to appear before the NCAA’s Infractions Appeals Committee next month. Haden said school attorneys would probably review the Newton case. “Intuitively, it seems appropriate that we would discuss it,” he said.

–FOX Sports West/LA Times.

The differences between Cecil Newton and Reggie Bush’s ordeal at Southern Cal aren’t all that obvious: the message the NCAA seems to be sending is, “We have no intention of pulling a guy off the field while he’s still active, and his team is playing well.” So they’ll let Auburn take a shot at a national title that would eventually be forfeited anyway. Which is funny, because there are lots of people out there that think college players should get a more respectable wage for their efforts. This tells me that the NCAA feels the same way.
