ITALIAN TOILETS ARE HARD TO ESCAPE

Written by Christmas Ape / 09.02.08

Italian soccer player Tiago Mendes (second best Tiago to Splitter, of course) was a mite bit perturbed about his likely transfer out of the Champions League, so he took the level-headed route and locked the club president in a bathroom stall for an hour.

Juventus President Giovanni Cobolli Gigli has confirmed that disgruntled player Tiago Mendes locked him in the loo!

In quite the strangest story to emerge from Serie A in many a year, the tension between the club and Tiago seems to have gone overboard.

“The story of me being locked in the toilet by Tiago is true,” confessed Cobolli Gigli live on Sky Italia television.

“It’s a shame it got out, as this was something I told a friend in confidence. In any case, Alessandro Del Piero responded to the noise of me punching the door and offered to break it down.

That’s some executive washroom you got there where it locks from the outside, so well in fact, that someone coming to your aid can’t open it without busting the door down. Since it’s an Italian door, shouldn’t it just flop down upon contact anyway?

ITALIAN SOCCER PLAYERS LIKE TO TAKE DIVES

Written by Matt / 07.16.07

You've never seen this before, unless you watch soccer, then you see an Italian taking a theatrical dive is all too often.  This example by AC Milan's Alberto Gilardino is what Jackie Chiles would term, "egregious, preposterous and outrageous":

Wouldn't it be cool if John Madden said, "that fully deserves censure if not ridicule" after John Runyan attempted to leg-whip an unsuspecting defensive end?   Anything would be better than, "Brett Favre is a great football player because he plays football the right way, and he's good with the football in his hands be cause he's a great football player." -KD
