Bellator Ring Girl Jade Bryce Is Now The Frank Caliendo Of MMA

Jade Bryce impressions

I mean that in a positive way, believe it or not.

Cage Potato sent over this clip of Bellator ring girl Jade Bryce doing her best impressions of memorable MMA fighters, faces and fans, and now it’s my duty to pass it along to you. She covers the Rashad Evans’s knockout face, the “Just Bleed” Guy, the drunk dancing mom and the “rising douchebag,” does her best to pull off the robot split and brings in a friend to emulate Don Frye and James Thompson’s violent eskimo kissing. It’s fun, and it’s Friday, so this is the perfect thing for you to spend a minute or two watching.

Video is after the jump.

Rashad Evans Doesn’t Understand Why You’re Still Being So Stupid About Gay Rights

Written by Brandon Stroud / 03.11.13

Last week, we got a ridiculous amount of backlash for sharing the story of Fallon Fox, the transgender MMA fighter whose fight license is under review in Florida. People who’ve never commented on a With Leather story (or haven’t commented in years) showed up to anonymous type some hateful shit into a comments box and post it, because the most difficult thing to do in the world is be compassionate about something you don’t understand. “I hate this group of people because X” became an opinion, and not something crazy people say when they want to be horrible.

Anyway, the positives of sharing that story outweighed the negative. The sports world (and the sportswriting world, by proxy) need every single one of its important people to stand up and say “hey, stop it.” Today we got a big one, thanks to UFC’s Rashad Evans, via his outstanding statement on OutSports. He spoke candidly — and, most importantly, like a f**king grown-up — about same-sex marriage and gay rights. Here’s a sample:

“I’ve never been a homophobe, never understood what that is all about. I knew some people who were gay and never cared about their sexuality. But at the same time, I didn’t fully understand the issues around gay people until my friend BA started telling me about his full public support for gay marriage. We talked about the issue and I decided its not enough to not be against a minority, if you want things to go better for them you have to speak up with them.

“I’m a UFC fighter, a macho-type sport. I am a heterosexual guy in a tough macho sport, which is exactly the reason I feel a duty to say I support gay marriage and gay rights.

I can’t even begin to tell you how much this makes me like Rashad Evans. It’s strange that comments like these still seem refreshing, but they are, and I encourage you to read a few more quotes after the jump, high-five OutSports for sharing them with the world, and support Evans in everything he does. Even if he tries to fight Bones again.

With Leather Live Discussion: UFC 156

Written by Ashley Burns / 02.02.13

Ever since Georges St-Pierre made his triumphant return to re-capture his UFC Welterweight Championship at UFC 154, we’ve been hearing this one phrase thrown around ad nauseum. That phrase? “Superfight”. That’s because Anderson Silva was on hand at UFC 154 in Toronto to watch St-Pierre knock the rust off, and a lot of us believed that was some sort of foreshadowing. Of course, it wasn’t, as Silva was in Toronto filming a movie, so he just attended the fight for the fun of it, but then UFC President Dana White said, “F*ck a bunch of that” and he swore to all of us that we were going to get a Silva and St-Pierre superfight in 2013.

In the meantime, we’re being treated to another superfight in tonight’s UFC 156 PPV event live from Las Vegas. In the main event, Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo is taking on Frankie Edgar in what many pundits and prognosticators are calling one hell of a matchup. Edgar, of course, has been one of the best lightweight fighters the UFC has ever seen, but back in August, after losing to Benson Henderson for a second time, he raised plenty of eyebrows when he declared that he’d be shedding some weight to drop down to the featherweight division. Thus, the superfight – a former UFC Lightweight Champion taking on the baddest Featherweight Champion of all-time.

Elsewhere, Alistair Overeem is making his return to UFC action now that his blood doesn’t match that of a rhinoceros, and he’ll be taking on Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva, while 33-year old Rashad Evans will face off against 36-year old Antonio Rogerio Nogueira in a battle of the old farts (writes the chubby 33-year old). You can check out the rest of tonight’s UFC 156 fight card after the jump, and as always you can check out our own Lobster Mobster’s breakdown. Prelims start at 8 PM ET on FX and the big fights hit the PPV channels at 10 PM ET. Other than that, CHAT TIME.

UFC Fighters Choose Which Super Hero They’d Be, Can Kinda-Sorta Name Super Heroes

Written by Brandon Stroud / 11.30.12

BeastmanFuel’s Ultimate Answers segment (which I’ll pretend is entirely written and organized by Brittney Palmer) asked a bunch of UFC fighters which superhero they would be. Some of the answers are surprisingly nerdy — Rashad Evans earns endless cool points from me for wanting to be Nightcrawler, and Demetrious Johnson has a pretty solid understanding of how the Green Lantern’s ring works — but some are just straight-up meathead terrible, like Donald Cerrone saying he wants to be “The Invisible Man” (direct quote: “OM BE VISIBLE MAN”).

The funniest offense is from Brodus Clay Tito ORTIZ, who says he wants to be “Beastman” from the X-Men because of his intelligence. As YouTube user Kevin Hall points out, “he’s actually called Beast, so there goes your intelligence.” I like to think that Tito got the name right and instead got the TEAM wrong, and really just wants to be Beastman from ‘He-Man and the Masters of the Universe’. “I wanna be a big orange guy who looks kinda scary, but sucks and never accomplishes anything, and is less effective a henchman than the guy with a robot mouth and a mer-man in a breastplate!” Jenna Jameson could be either of those two.

Oh, and before I forget, f**k BJ Penn for wanting to be Superman because he’s “better than all the other superheroes”. If I get to pick, I’m being Captain Marvel, so I can kick BJ Penn’s ass.

Reminder: The UFC 145 Live-Blog With Danny Boy & Vince Mancini Happens Tomorrow Night

Written by Brandon Stroud / 04.20.12

jon-jones-rashad-evans-ufc-145

Tomorrow’s the big day: UFC 145 kicks off at 7PM/10PM PST/EST, and With Leather gets two special guests to help us live blog the festivities — UFC veteran and current UFC.com writer Daniel “Danny Boy” Downes and kingsh*t UPROXX UFC expert/FilmDrunk maestro Vince Mancini. It’s going to be a great time, and if you’re the kind of person who likes sports and jokes, you need to be there. And if you aren’t … what the hell are you doing here?

We’ve got a counter at the top of the page as a reminder, and the best advice I can give you is to sit still and stare at it until it ends. The live-blog itself goes live at midnight tonight, so you can spend all day making your predictions, laughing about how quickly the dudes get knocked out in the Facebook fights and earning our first ever MMA-themed commenting badge. We’re keeping that one under wraps for now.

So bookmark the page (which is just a placeholder for now) and be back tomorrow for the most fun you can have watching two guys beat the hell out of each other.
