Sergio Garcia Is Stealing His Racist Jokes Now

Written by Ashley Burns / 05.22.13

At the 1997 Masters Tournament, as a then-21-year old Tiger Woods was about to finish an incredible 12-shot victory, then-45-year old Fuzzy Zoeller created one of golf’s strangest rivalries when he told a reporter:

“That little boy is driving it well, and he’s putting well. He’s doing everything it takes to win. So you know what you guys do when he gets in here? You pat him on the back and say, ‘Congratulations’ and ‘Enjoy it.’ And tell him not to serve fried chicken next year. Got it? Or collard greens or whatever the hell they serve.”

And the people at home watching let out a collective, “Hoo boy, that’s racist.” Well, 16 years later, it seems that Sergio Garcia “forgot” about ol’ Fuzzy’s faux pas and borrowed the joke at a European Tour event last night, when asked whether or not he’d have Woods over for dinner before the U.S. Open next month.

“We’ll have him round every night. We will serve fried chicken.”

Naturally, the apology has already been issued.

NASCAR Fans Vs. Taiwan Animation, A Battle For The Ages

Written by Brandon Stroud / 02.26.13

Next Media Animation’s “Taiwan Animation” of the Daytona crash has all the absurdity and hyperbole you’d expect — fans being killed and turned into cheering ghosts, all the cars being Toyota Corollas because they don’t have a stock car stock animation, NASCAR literally erasing the video from YouTube — but the best part is easily the fact that nobody at NMA thought, “hey, it’s probably a bad idea to ask NASCAR fans what they think of this insulting, wacky parody video made by Asians.”

From the YouTube description:

As every NASCAR fan knows, you come for the crashes and stay for the races. But are NASCAR officials taking fan safety seriously enough?

NASCAR fans are stoic. Talk to any fan and they will admit to accepting some level of risk when watching the races live. Furthermore, the fine print on the back of admissions tickets would seem to absolve race officials of liability if fans are injured.

But despite the risks, are NASCAR officials doing enough to ensure no fan is ever hurt? Leave your thoughts in the comments.

Predictably, NASCAR fans left their thoughts.

People Are Upset That The WWE Is Using A Tea Party Gimmick Now

Written by Ashley Burns / 02.20.13

"Pull mah fingah!"

I’ll start by prefacing this post with the standard reminder that I am not a political person and I do not ever intend to express my political or religious beliefs to you, the reader. I believe that we only have a short time here on this crazy little planet called Earth, and we should spend our time focused on more important things like making Brittney Palmer fall in love with me. That said, I’m worried the WWE may be responsible for our next Civil War.

As you wrasslin’ fans are all well aware, Jack Swagger is back with his “Real American” gimmick, and he has been joined by a manager named Zeb Colter. They are clearly playing on the idea that people who belong to the Tea Party are a wee bit eccentric. It also certainly doesn’t help that immigration is an endlessly hot topic and Swagger is wrestling Mexican star Alberto Del Rio at Wrestlemania.

Despite the fact that the WWE has famously mocked many races, religions, genders and politics in the past, this gimmick is apparently the straw that broke the horse’s back. Why a horse? Ain’t no camels in the Constitution, that’s why.

This Week In Racist Super Bowl Commercials: Sean Paul Says Volkswagen’s Ad Is Funny

Written by Ashley Burns / 01.31.13

"Why, because I'm black?"

As has become customary in this YouTube era, companies no longer wait for the Super Bowl to actually air their Super Bowl ads, which is why any outrage from PornHub’s executives would be about as real as a Faye Reagan orgasm. At the very least, many companies have started leaking “teaser ads” – which is wholly absurd – like Mercedes’ Kate Upton car wash ad or Volkswagen’s Star Wars dogs, but most companies have just said, “F*ck it, here’s the whole commercial” because they love when bros like me write about them.

Speaking of Volkswagen, the German car company’s Super Bowl 47 ad hit the cat tubes earlier this week and it already has more than 3 million views on YouTube. Of course, it’s not because the commercial is any good – it’s okay, I guess – it’s because people think that white people doing Jamaican voices is racist.

Gee, I wonder if Volkswagen’s ad team saw all of this attention coming when they filmed this commercial.

Real-Life Eric Cartman Plays Canadian Pee-Wee Hockey, Is Not Hilarious

Written by Brandon Stroud / 11.29.12

Eric Cartman hockey

You know how ‘South Park’s’ Eric Cartman is a 10-year old who hates Jewish people, slurs everyone and once chopped up a kid’s parents and fed them to him in a bowl of chili? And it’s funny because he’s a fictional character on an animated comedy and ridiculously exaggerated for effect?

Yeah, that becomes way less funny when it happens in real life.

An 11-year-old [Pee-Wee hockey] defenceman was targeted during a team outing for being Jewish, said his mother who is also the team’s manager.

“We all went to an Oil Kings’ game on Friday and on the bus, the goalie of our team called my son a “f**king Jew,” she said, adding this player later told her son that Nazis killed Jews.

A second player from the same team, an 11-year-old biracial forward, told his parents this week that the same goalie targeted him at the beginning of the month.

The goalie told him “Your mom should go back to Africa where she belongs.” (via the St. Albert Gazette)

So, uh …

“(The league) was notified yesterday afternoon of the incident in question and based on a review of the information we received, the decision was made to suspend the player pending further investigation and a meeting with the parent,” he said, adding two league executives will attend the meeting.

He would not comment on whether there have been prior complaints filed against the player, and said no further comments will be provided.

We at With Leather get up on a righteous soapbox from time to time, and we’re just as quick to field “YOU’RE THE PC POLICE KIDS CAN SAY WHATEVER THEY WANT NYEAHH,” so I’ll save you all that and give you the most objective, astute analysis I can muster: that kid who got derisively called a Jew should’ve kicked this little 11-year old asshole’s ass. Just wrecked him where he stood. Additionally, anybody using “go back to Africa” at 11-years old in 2012 IN CANADA has probably suffered through the most f**ked-up child-rearing ever and should be with one of the other 34-million-and-change Canadians who won’t raise him to be a weird cartoon villain.

Or, you know, feed him someone in a chili.

This Week In YouTube Commenter Outrage: The NBA’s BIG Color Commerical Inspires Hate

Written by Ashley Burns / 11.21.12

Despite me watching it last night, the NBA posted its new “BIG Color” commercial on YouTube today to celebrate both the holiday season and the surprisingly plain jerseys that some teams will be wearing on Christmas day. As we already know, the Christmas day NBA schedule looks like this:

Boston Celtics at Brooklyn Nets
New York Knicks at Los Angeles Lakers
Oklahoma City Thunder at Miami Heat
Houston Rockets at Chicago Bulls
Denver Nuggets at Los Angeles Clippers

It’s a regular potpourri of games that we both care and don’t care about. Thanks NBA! But back to the uniforms and commercial at hand. The BIG Color commercial features four of the league’s most recognizable stars and Joe Johnson, as they bounce their jingle balls in rhythm to the tune of “Carol of the Bells”. For what it is, it’s a simple but cool spot that doesn’t play any favorites, except that 25 teams are left out of the fun. But that’s their fault for stinking.

Check out the commercial after the jump, as well as some special holiday cheer commentary from my favorite and most intelligent people on the Internet – YouTube commenters.
