While interacting with his fans at the NFL Xperience in Dallas, Desmond Howard was confronted by an irate Phil Simms, who has been holding an apparent grudge against Howard since he called Phil’s son, Matt Simms, one of the three worst quarterbacks in the SEC. Howard is a college football analyst, so it’s his job to give insight and opinions, but Phil doesn’t seem to understand that. So he instead resorted to physically threatening Howard, which required police involvement.

Matt, of course, plays for the Tennessee Volunteers and he threw for 1,460 yards and 8 touchdowns during the 2010 season, so he wasn’t anything to brag about. But I will avoid making any further remarks, since I don’t want Phil threatening me. I’ve already been yelled at by Boomer Esiason’s daughter, Sydney, for calling him an idiot, so I don’t want another former NFL QB getting mad at me just because his son sucks.

NFL analyst and former Super Bowl MVP Phil Simms was asked about what kind of pro Tim Tebow would be, and while Simms said that Tebow would probably make it in the NFL as a quarterback, he didn’t think that the Florida signal-caller would be quite the hero that he had been in Gainesville.

“I think it’s a pretty tough road ahead. I think he has to make some changes as far as how he throws if he wants to be a successful NFL quarterback.”

“It’s about the arm,” Simms said. “It’s about the arm. Let’s just get over that. . . . It’s not a powerful arm, by no means. It’s not quick. He’s just really got to control the football better. He doesn’t control it as well as he should to really be a top-flight NFL quarterback, but that can change.”–PFT, via 100% Injury Rate.

That can change! Optimism! But let’s be fair, Phil Simms is also the father of Chris Simms, a kid that couldn’t even keep his spleen in his body while playing a full NFL season. So Phil may not be the best resource on this, even if he seems to be saying what everyone else is thinking. I wish everyone was thinking of buffalo wings, because I could really go for some of those right now.

There are some heretics out there who think the ABC pilot spun off from the GEICO's "cavemen" commercials is a bad idea. These are probably the same fools who thought my risqué ads for that garden hose company weren't going to pay off, but who's gone on to star in his own sexy calendar that's already sold seven copies? That's what I thought.

Anyway, as further proof that I'm an internationally-adored hunk, WBRS Sports Blog found this awesome skit of Phil Simms playing golf with one of the cavemen. Surprisingly, Simms is actually quite good. He doesn't stutter a sentence out once, which is surprising given that that's his forte in announcing.

If you're not excited for this to be a TV show, I don't know what to say. There's not much I can do for you. You probably wouldn't even like this photo of me in short jean shorts drinking from a garden hose on a hot day, so what do you know?
