The Golf Boys Are Back And More Golf-Boyey Than Ever

Written by Brandon Stroud / 03.04.13

Golf Boys 2.oh

Your Golf Buoyancy is about to be off the charts because the Golf Boys — the golf-themed boyband — is back. This time they’ve brought chicken wings (in both food and clothing forms), exploding soda bottles, a giant-sized hat and some baby costumes. No, seriously.

Brought to you by PGA Tour stars Ben Crane, Bubba Watson, Rickie Fowler and Hunter Mahan, the Golf Boys’ encore performance, “2.Oh”, is here. Proceeds benefiting charity:water. Please visit http://mycharitywater.org/GolfBoys for more information about the cause and Golf Boys campaign.

Shane Bacon has contributed a few things to my life, but none greater than the “hey, Bubba Watson just did something else stupid” heads-up. And hey, it’s for a good cause, right? The charity’s even called “charity:water,” which can be read as “charity colon water,” which is THE WORST POSSIBLE CHARITY.

But seriously, good on the Golf Boys for showing some personality and having fun. Here’s the video. Have fun singing this for the rest of the day.

Shane Battier Versus The Theme To ‘The Love Boat.’ Who Ya Got?

Written by Brandon Stroud / 01.09.13

Shane Battier Love BoatWith Leather has never been an overwhelmingly pro-Miami Heat type of site. We’ll write “congrats to the heat on that thing they won” in passing in our morning links, but post 30 paragraphs about their fans are d-bags.

Occasionally they’ll do something positive for the community and we’ll write it up. That’s the case with today’s Heat update, and I will ease into the blockquote without mentioning how I’m only sharing it because Shane Battier is doing a karaoke version of the theme to the f**king ‘Love Boat.’

Join Shane Battier for the second annual “South Beach Battioke” celebrity karaoke event on Monday, January 21, 2013, at the Eden Roc Renaissance Hotel in Miami Beach, to benefit The Battier Take Charge Foundation.

Man, listen to that. It’s glorious. It’s the exact opposite of Mario Chalmers trying to rap.

Tickets to the event are $250, so if you’ve been saving a quarter of a thousand dollars to see LeBron James put on a wig and mug his way through a Pretty Ricky track, this may be your chance. Worst case scenario, you’ll get to find out whether or not Battier knows the lyrics to ‘Love, American Style.’

Fist In A Box, This Year’s Most Disappointing Video To Perverts With Google

Written by Brandon Stroud / 12.26.12

Fist In A Box

We shared a lot of horrifyingly-bad Christmas updates this year, but none quite as epic as Michael “The Menace” Johnson’s “special holiday song” for his UFC 155 opponent, Myles Jury. If you haven’t figured it out from the headline and that weird picture, it’s FIST IN A BOX, a parody of Saturday Night Live’s ‘Dick In A Box’ Digital Short that manages to somehow be even more about dicks.

I don’t want to spoil it for you, but it’s even worse than you’re imagining. Video is below.

The Next Person Who Makes Athletes Sing Jingle Bells Gets My Foot Up Their Ass

Written by Brandon Stroud / 12.21.12

NBA Jingle Bells

The only upside to a Mayan apocalypse going down at some point today would be the end of whoever keeps making athletes sing sports-related Christmas carols because they’re sports guys and it’s Christmas.

Yesterday we shared with you the 12 Days Of MMA Christmas (“two black eyes!” etc.), and before that it was pro wrestlers singing WWE Jingle Bells. Somewhere in-between we watched the Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks sing holiday carols, but I guess that wasn’t explicitly basketball enough, so somebody got 4-pack of Santa hats and made Jason Kidd, James Harden, Blake Griffin and Chris Paul sing NBA-specific Jingle Bells.

It … might be worse than the one with wrestlers. Sample lyric:

Over the “D” he jumps, dunking all the way!

Here’s the commercial. While you’re watching it, I’ll be writing up this thing somebody just sent me of Psy and a bunch of locked-out NHL players singing a Gangnam Style remix of ‘O Come All Ye Faithful.’

The 12 Days Of MMA Christmas, AKA ‘Brittney Palmer In Christmas Underwear’

Written by Brandon Stroud / 12.20.12

Brittney Palmer 12 Days Of MMA Christmas

‘The Twelve Days Of Christmas’ is a holiday standard and I’ve always enjoyed it, but TMZ had to go and write all weird about Kate Upton’s boobs, and now that’s all I can think of when they get to the “maids a’milking.” Thanks for trying to ruin Christmas, TMZ.

I had to find new, non-milk-related lyrics to go along with the tune, and lucky for me, a bunch of MMA guys got together to sing about “knees a’flying” and “five guillotines” for Gamma Labs’ ’12 Days Of MMA Christmas.’ It features pretty much everything you’d want in 12 days of MMA Christmas … Chuck Liddell senitively playing piano, Joe Stevenson accompanied by a children’s choir, Urijah Faber kneeing everything in sight. Oh, and the whole thing is kicked off by ring girl extraordinaire Brittney Palmer in some Christmas underpants. You, uh, have probably skipped this entirely.

The video is below. Fun fact: If somebody says “Gamma Labs” more than 10 times, it stops being words. GABBALBLABS UNDER THE TREE!

The Houston Rockets Sing ‘I Have a Little Dreidel,’ I Have A Little Aneurysm

Written by Brandon Stroud / 12.14.12

Jeremy Lin Houston Rockets Dreidle SongBack in November, I tasked the With Leather readers with choosing an NBA team for me to support, and the unanimous decision was the Houston Rockets. I’ve done my best to be a Rockets fan, weathering a James Harden sprained ankle and every Jeremy Lin game that wasn’t his one good one, but this clip of the team singing the Hanukkah classic, ‘I Have A Little Dreidel,’ may be a bridge too far. Is there a way to classify this anti-Semitic?

Seriously though, I know it’s all in good fun, but I think the holiday updates are getting to me. At least you guys didn’t try to make me a Mavericks fan. Here are those poor guys trying to sing ‘Sleigh Ride.’

“Trying” is the key word, here.
