And Now, A Guy Trying To Kill Himself At The Gym

Written by Brandon Stroud / 04.12.13

bad exerciseThis clip has been making the rounds over the past few days, and I didn’t want to be the last person in your sports blogging world to say, “hey, check out this guy using a weight bench to swim and/or tear every muscle in his body.” Who needs a spine, anyway?

This is my new excuse for half-assing it to the gym. Sometimes I want to change it up and do a new exercise, so I’ll find a bench of a machine and just sit there mentally trying to figure it out or physically trying to adapt my body to however I’m supposed to sit, and … no. Occasionally I’ll look up an instructional video on YouTube and work my way through it. But how am I supposed to do that when I know the entire gym is armed with smartphones, and are just waiting to pounce on my futility and upload it to mass applause? I’M JUST TRYING TO WORK OUT MY DELTOIDS, WHATEVER THOSE ARE, STOP LOOKING AT ME.

Anyway, I hope the follow-up to this video is him jumping into a swimming pool and swimming super f**king fast.

Nerlens Noel Dunk Nearly Kills Child, Nerlens Noel, Every Kentucky Fan In The Country

Written by Brandon Stroud / 09.21.12

Nerlens Noel dunk

Nerlens Noel is a 6-foot-10 18-year old from Everett High School in Massachusetts, rated as the #1 player in the class of 2012 by ESPN, poised to be the heir apparent to Anthony Davis at the University of Kentucky. He was in the middle of an on-campus pick-up game against a bunch of kids as a thank you to all the people who’d camped out for tickets to the school’s Big Blue Madness event when he went up for a dunk. The picture you see above this paragraph is the exact moment when everyone in attendance goes from “YEAH DUNK IT” to “oh my god we’re all doomed”.

For whatever reason, Noel bricked the two-handed dunk and went straight to the ground on his back. It’s hard to say what was going through the minds of the Kentucky fans watching, but the phrase “wailing and gnashing of teeth” comes to mind. If he’s hurt, there go the national title hopes. Luckily for everyone, he was all right. Want to know why? Because a child broke his fall.

Now that you know everyone involved is ‘find’, check out the video of the dunk, after the jump.

Minnesota Twins Bat Boy #cantgetit

Written by Brandon Stroud / 07.25.12

Minnesota Twins batboy fail

Yesterday we shared with you a clip of Philadelphia Phillies ballgirl Genevieve Haney snagging a foul ball and paired it with a dozen or so Instagram photos of her sunbathing or hanging out with the Phillie Phanatic. Genevieve loved the post and shared it with her friends, because that’s how she rolls.

Now, on the opposite end of that coolness spectrum we have Tuesday night’s Minnesota Twins ballboy. In this GIF (courtesy of the always stellar Tom Fornelli at South Side Asylum), the poor guy is tasked with taking Ryan Doumit’s bat and royally eats it, slipping on the grass and nearly taking Doumit down with him. He gets a pat on the butt for his troubles, and sad Charlie Brown walks back to the dugout knowing only Doumit, the people in the stands, the people watching at home and everyone on the Internet noticed it.

Much like the lovely Geneieve, Minnesota Twins bat boy is a big fan of Instagram, so I’ve put together a collection of my favorite snaps from his collection. You’ll really want to see these.

Another Reason To Never, Ever Wear Rollerblades

Written by JOSH Z / 10.08.10

rollerblade flip

This video has been around the block, but it’s quality, and new to me. This guy tried to litterally flip out of a skate park wearing rollerblades. I’d hate to ruin the ending for you, but since we’re posting it, you could probably guess. More spoilers for you: the ship sinks, the horse wins the triple crown, and Darth Vader actually was Luke’s father. Now be quiet, because I still haven’t seen “Mad Men” from Sunday. WHOOPS

knicks_cheerleaders_fall

There is absolutely nothing going on, so here’s one of the New York Knicks cheerleaders falling flat on her back. I don’t know why, but there seems to be something right about watching bad things happen to beautiful people, as if the world is balancing itself out somehow. Of course, I say that while actually being a beautiful person, at least that’s what my mother tells me. No wonder she let me breast feed until I was 11.

‘A TEN FROM THE RUSSIAN JUDGE’

Written by JOSH Z / 10.20.09

Here’s Colombian gymnast Jessica Gil Ortiz, whose last name literally translated means, “Head Bounce Ortiz.” And she lives up to her billing right around the 0:35 mark, followed by what has to be the most bizzare ovation for a neck injury since the end of Michael Irvin’s career. This video alone should be reason enough to hold the Olympics in Philadelphia. The figure skating alone would make for some of the greatest crazy fan videos ever. Thanks, Buck.
