Another Reason To Never, Ever Wear Rollerblades

rollerblade flip

This video has been around the block, but it’s quality, and new to me. This guy tried to litterally flip out of a skate park wearing rollerblades. I’d hate to ruin the ending for you, but since we’re posting it, you could probably guess. More spoilers for you: the ship sinks, the horse wins the triple crown, and Darth Vader actually was Luke’s father. Now be quiet, because I still haven’t seen “Mad Men” from Sunday. WHOOPS

knicks_cheerleaders_fall

There is absolutely nothing going on, so here’s one of the New York Knicks cheerleaders falling flat on her back. I don’t know why, but there seems to be something right about watching bad things happen to beautiful people, as if the world is balancing itself out somehow. Of course, I say that while actually being a beautiful person, at least that’s what my mother tells me. No wonder she let me breast feed until I was 11.

Video’s after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »

‘A TEN FROM THE RUSSIAN JUDGE’

10.20.09 Written by JOSH Z

Here’s Colombian gymnast Jessica Gil Ortiz, whose last name literally translated means, “Head Bounce Ortiz.” And she lives up to her billing right around the 0:35 mark, followed by what has to be the most bizzare ovation for a neck injury since the end of Michael Irvin’s career. This video alone should be reason enough to hold the Olympics in Philadelphia. The figure skating alone would make for some of the greatest crazy fan videos ever. Thanks, Buck.

BRAD SMITH NEEDS A BACKIOTOMY

12.10.08 Written by Matt

Not many of us were subjected to the crapocity of the Jets’ egg-laying in San Francisco on Sunday, so you may have missed this spine-crushing hit on Brad Smith, who somehow got up and walked away after Patrick Willis bent him in half. Perhaps Brad’s been taking lessons in “gritty toughness” from Brett Favre. Or maybe he has rubber vertebrae.

THANK YOU, X GAMES

08.04.08 Written by Matt

The X Games are going on right now, which means one thing and one thing only: professionally extreme dudes getting hurt while trying to do gnarly tricks.  And while nothing can ever top the televised perfection of Jake Brown's massive freefall last year, we can at least appreciate Jim DeChamp, who attempted to land the first-ever front flip on a dirt bike.  Key word being attempt.  DeChamp executed the jump and rotation perfectly, but — jazzed up on adrenaline — bailed out because he thought he had over-rotated.

DeChamp lay still for a few minutes before walking off under his own power. What television viewers and those in attendance didn't see was DeChamp collapsing afterward in the athlete area.

"He said, 'Look, I've got to get up, I'm going to walk out of here,' " said [Travis] Pastrana, who was by his side. "Then, he's like, 'cameras off?' I said, 'Yep,' and he just fell down and said, 'Take me to the hospital.'"

Well, at least he walked off under his own power, so you know it's not anything more serious than a broken vertebra.  Which it is.  So it's still kind of historic: DeChamp is the first person to ever break his back attempting a stunt on his dirt bike.  This week.  Outside of West Virginia.
