Bart Scott Doesn’t Get How The Media Works

Written by Ashley Burns / 09.10.12

Back in July, New York Jets receiver Santonio Holmes vented his frustrations with the New York media, telling reporters that he didn’t appreciate how writers had been criticizing his team. Holmes, like many athletes, wrongly believes that the local newspapers should serve more as an ego-stroking PR guide than a non-biased source of information. And while the modern era sports columnist has proven that idea easier said than done, it still shows that athletes aren’t always the best at grasping reality.

Yesterday, Jets linebacker Bart Scott took Holmes’ gripe one step further in an interview with a USA Today reporter after his team laid a 48-28 spanking on the Buffalo Bills and Ryan Fitzpatrick’s Ivy League ass by declaring a “media mutiny”. I assume that’s before he yelled “YARRRRRGH!” and slid down the sails of his galleon with a knife in his teeth.

Happy 42nd Birthday, Brett Lorenzo Favre!

Written by Ashley Burns / 10.10.11

As we settle in and get ready for Game 2 of the NCLS the 4-0 Detroit Lions’ return to Monday Night Football after a 2,000 year hiatus, I thought we could take a moment to wish former Green Bay Packers/New York Jets/Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre a happy 42nd birthday. DR. Z UNIMPRESSED WITH FAVRE

Written by Matt / 03.05.08

/cranky

In the midst of the Favre post-retirement fellatio treatment from the media, a lone, cranky voice of reason stands above the fray and proclaims that you, Brett Favre, better get off my damn lawn. Or Dr. Z made the point that we've been making all along: that Favre was the recipient of constant fellatio treatment from the media, who always made excuses for the catastrophic lapses that came with the life of a gunslinger.

His fourth quarter and overtime meltdown against the Giants last season, which put a sad end to a remarkably classy season? Never mind … the redemption of the Giants' field-goal kicker was the angle. The goofy, looping interception that cost the Pack the Eagles' game in OT in the divisionals in 2004? Oh, let's put it on the defense for allowing McNabb his fourth-and-26 completion in regulation.

How can you blame the media, Dr. Z? You are the media. So you're sticking it to yourself? Just go back inside so I can leave this bag of shit on your porch and light it on fire. — Monday Morning Punter
