Fear The Korean Taekwondo Diplomacy Foundation: They Will Flip And Kick Out Your Heart

Written by Brandon Stroud / 05.09.13

Korean Taekwondo Diplomacy Foundation

Just typing it is oddly terrifying: “Korean Taekwondo Diplomacy Foundation.” That’s GOT to be a front for a super villain.

Fight Network had a treat this week when the Korean Taekwondo Diplomacy Foundation came in to the FN studios for a demonstration with Master Tommy Chang from Black Belt World.

This video is ridiculously short (we only get a peek at a few stunts, and it’s over within 30 seconds), but it should be enough to send you crossing the street if the KTDF strolls by. We get to see a guy pull off the IRL version of Ken and Ryu’s hurricane kick, they finish off with a running backflip kick through a board THROUGH THE HEAVENS, and right in the middle is a weird blindfolded thing where it looks like a dude’s murdering a candy apple. Okay!

Here’s the clip, via Middle Easy. DIE, APPLE.

New Korean Baseball Technique: Elbow Smash Line Drives

Written by Brandon Stroud / 09.06.12

I don’t know the specifics of what’s happening here, but here’s the gist: A gent on the Korean baseball team claims he was hit by a pitch, but everyone else in the game/stadium/world saw him lean out and elbow smash the ball. It’s a line drive foul, and one of the most hilariously dirty attempts at a play I’ve seen in a while. It’s like what happens in Derek Jeter’s mind every time the ball misses him by a foot and he collapses to the ground in agony.

Looks clean to me.

What I didn’t expect (because I’m stupid, and apparently just started blogging) is the response of YouTube commenters. I can’t read a lot of them, but the ones attempted in English are a wonderful mix of folky, racist and offensively general. Here are a few of my favorite examples from the last hour.

This Arianny Celeste Soccer Shoot Doesn’t Make Sense, But Who Cares

Written by Brandon Stroud / 08.29.12

It hasn’t been the best year for iconic octagon ring-girl Arianny Celeste, what with all the arrests for domestic abuse, but the charges against her were dropped and she can spend the rest of 2012 focusing on what she does best: looking absolutely gorgeous in situations that make little-to-no sense.

Take this shoot for Maxim Korea for example. In it, a woman with a legit sports tie to UFC is seen posing with a soccer ball. Why? Is “Arianny Celeste soccer” a big Google search term? Who knows? It makes about as much sense as having a lady walk around with a big number held over her head instead of just telling people what round it is. Regardless, the shoot is amazing, especially when she drops the soccer ball and just starts Instagramming herself behind the scenes.

Or, you know, don’t take this for an example and just look at the pictures. Either way works.

Newest Fad: Toddler Fighting Rings

Written by Ashley Burns / 02.21.11

I don’t fancy myself much of a conspiracy theorist* but I couldn’t help but notice the eerily close timing of Michael Vick’s withdrawal from this Thursday’s scheduled appearance on Oprah and the sudden appearance of a video of two Asian toddlers engaged in Taekwando. Sure, this video has absolutely nothing to do with Vick and clearly doesn’t take place in America, but if Marko Jaric can land Adriana Lima, then anything must be possible.

Anywho, the video you’re about to see is rather intense and your toddlers should not try to attempt this fighting style at home. Unless they dip their little fists in glue and roll them around in broken glass first. Who says brutal death matches can’t be adorable?

KOREAN GIRLS LOVE IOWA FOOTBALL

Written by JOSH Z / 01.28.10

The Big Ten is enjoying a bit of an international boost this week after the Korean pop group Girl Generation released this video featuring these random shots of an Iowa Hawkeyes football helmet. And I just wanted to point out that this is South Korea, and not North Korea, so the Axis of Evil jokes don’t really apply here, although “Axis of Jailbait” is totally in play. –Black Hearts Gold Pants.

FEDOR VS. SIX KOREAN GUYS

Written by JOSH Z / 01.25.10

I know that Strikeforce isn’t as deep as UFC in terms of talent, but this is ridiculous. It’s Fedor Emelianenko working a standard boxing ring against six Koreans. I’m told their there they’re Koreans, anyway. They certainly don’t seem to be too excited to mix it up with the MMA great, not that anyone could blame them. –Watch Kalib Run.
