If you joined us for the UFC on Fox 6 live discussion on Saturday, then you most likely watched the sad end of the BJ Penn era, after he was outmatched and exhausted by our favorite fighting hipster, Rory MacDonald. But some people believe that the real end of an era came later that night, when Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manual Marquez reignited their incredible rivalry for the fourth time in front of a fiery Las Vegas audience. Marquez delivered a stunning knockout blow to Pacquiao in the 6th round, securing the WBO “Champion of the Decade” belt and a barrage of “Is this the end of Manny?” headlines.

Lost in the shuffle is also a hilarious Internet uproar caused by none other than Floyd Mayweather’s No. 1 fan, Justin Bieber, as Canada’s crown prince of pop apparently made fun of Pacman on Instagram, and that didn’t sit well with the fighter’s fans. What really blows me away is that Pacquiao has a considerable amount of fans worldwide, as they flocked to Bieber’s Instagram account to defend their fallen hero. There you have it, folks – boxing’s biggest star being made fun of by this guy…

I had a great joke ready to go, but Bob’s Blitz beat me to it:

You had no idea that King Hippo was a real, live, MMA fighter, now did you?

It’s glorious. Just like the character from Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!!, a fat, bald guy in gym shorts and gloves takes a few shots to the head from his opponent and feels no pain. So he starts raising his arms and opening his mouth, opening himself up for a free shot. That leaves him open, and he goes down to one well-placed punch. The only thing missing is the Hippo 8-bit blip scream and Great Tiger waiting in the wings. He should show up to his next fight with an X patch over his navel.

For an hilarious added bonus, wait until the 0:46 mark when some random guy comes flipping into the ring from the sky for no reason. I wish MMA was always this weird.

The best part of this Polish double knockout video is that it happened at an event called “MMA Night Of Champions”. If these are the champions, I’d hate to see the runners up. (via Cage Potato)

As much as I’d like to take credit for that headline, YouTube user dannymorales82 beat me to it.

What you’re witnessing here is the very unfortunate thing that happened when Shai Lindsey took a flurry of shots from Carlo Junio, smiled about it and tried out his best Bane “come at me, bro” taunt. He gets kicked in the face, as anyone doing that taunt should, and after a few shots to the head the only people “coming at him” are trainers and medics. Poor guy. It’s embarrassing enough to be fighting at an event called “Tuff-N-Uff FestiBrawl”.

Open letter to the Shai Lindsey camp: next time he gets knocked out like that, have one of your guys swoop in with a bottle of hair dye. If you fix that crappy mohawk thing, maybe MMA guys won’t want to cave in his face so badly.

While most of us had our attention focused on UFC on FOX 4 on Saturday night, Nick Newell was stepping into the cage at a minor league event called Xtreme Fighting Championships and scoring a knockout. While such occurrences are not uncommon at the smaller shows that happen every weekend across the United States, what makes this one remarkable is the man earning the KO: Newell’s left arm ends just past the elbow. Newell, a Massachusetts native and former high school wrestler, is now 8-0 as a pro, and the win puts him line for a crack at the XFC lightweight title. (via Cagewriter)

I’ll admit, when I saw the GUY WITH ONE ARM SCORES MMA KNOCKOUT headline I was hoping he KO’d the guy with his short arm, but this is still great and pretty goddamn inspirational. There’s probably a “HE SHOULDN’T BE ALLOWED TO SPRINT BECAUSE HE’S GOT METAL LEGS AND THEY WEIGH LESS THIS IS CHEATING”-style argument against his successes because his opponent can’t reach out and grab an arm, but whatever, if I only had one arm I wouldn’t have the dexterity or stick-to-itiveness to keep blogging, much less step into an octagon and blast a dude to death.

I want to see Nick Newell fight Brock Lesnar at some point. We all know how well Brock handles the differently-abled.
