Back in December, we confirmed that Kate Upton went to Antarctica for a top secret Sports Illustrated photo shoot, and she was accompanied by a giant Oreo. It turns out, with 95% of our research team and fact checkers reporting, that she was indeed freezing her assets off for the sake of the SI Swimsuit Issue cover. Also, Sports Illustrated reported it this evening, so that might suggest it’s true as well.

Kate Upton is … rapping, I think? for Skull Candy. Big Boi has to record with Andre 3000 with a six month delay via satellite or whatever, but he’ll show up to help Kate Upton spit fire. "On this next take, maybe try no shirt."

“A great Super Bowl commercial tells a story,” says some girl as the behind-the-scenes look at Kate Upton’s already-famous Mercedes Super Bowl ad begins. “No it doesn’t,” I reply as I think back to the zero times that I’ve ever yelled, “Shut up everyone, I want to hear the words to this car commercial”, in between pouring tequila bombs at a Super Bowl party. A good Super Bowl commercial, according to me, is short and sweet, with a softball setup and a home run punchline.

Take, for instance, the “Running of the Squirrels” commercial from several years ago. I don’t know what EDS is, but I remember this EDS commercial all these years later because it was simple. Upton’s Mercedes commercial, though, isn’t as memorable, at least not compared to her previous Carl’s Jr. ad. However, in Mercedes’ defense, what we saw was just a teaser, and there’s a much more elaborate concept in store for us come Sunday (or after the jump).

By now, you’re probably aware that Mercedes signed With Leather’s 2011, 2012 (and pretty much every year beyond that until the end of time or she turns 30) Celebrity Sports Fan of the Year Kate Upton for its Super Bowl ad campaign, and today we’ve finally been gifted with a teaser ad. And right from the start, Mercedes grabs my attention, flips it over and shakes all of the money from its pockets with this disclaimer:

Of course, we’d be pretty shocked if a classy automobile manufacturer like Mercedes went the Carl’s Jr. route instead of bringing something a little more clever to the party. Needless to say, Mercedes had that in mind. Sorry to disappoint, fellas.

This Instagram image doesn’t come with a lot of context — all that accompanied it in its tweet was “Just girls bein girls” — but hey, Kate Upton, Stacy Keibler and Maria Menounos hung out last night, all sat on the same side of the table (?) and made facetious mustaches with their chopsticks.

Sorry to be all “uh here’s this one picture” about it, but I thought you should be made aware. Yesterday was my birthday, so I like to think they got together to celebrate it and I just missed the e-vite. Thanks, ladies, I appreciate it.

(Also, I can’t wait for mustaches to stop being funny.)

In one of the better “Boys will be boys” stories of this early sports year, New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony reportedly took offense to something that Boston Celtics forward Kevin Garnett said to him during Boston’s 102-96 victory on Monday night. According to various websites, Garnett supposedly told Anthony that his wife and decision-maker, La La Vasquez-Anthony, “tasted like Honey Nut Cheerios”. Honestly, I don’t really know how that’s an insult, because it mostly just reminds me of Patrice O’Neal’s birthday cake joke (watch “Elephant in the Room” if you’re unfamiliar).

Now, if I had to guess, Garnett has never had sex with Anthony’s wife. Maybe he has, and therefore is qualified to make such a statement, but this is probably just an example of what the kids call “trash talk”. However, some people believe that this sort of trash talk crosses a line, including Anthony, who waited for Garnett by the Celtics team bus so they could settle this like men. After all, you can take the millionaire professional athlete out of Brooklyn, but you can’t take the Brooklyn out of the corporate product spokesperson.
