Kobe Bryant’s Injury Gets The Taiwan Animation Treatment, And Also Jeremy Lin Is There

Written by Brandon Stroud / 04.18.13

Interested in learning more about Kobe Bryant’s injury and its impact on the Los Angeles Lakers? Then turn to the only people who matter in sports reporting, Taiwan’s Next Media Animation. They gave everybody big heads, have Kobe sobbing in a wheelchair and even managed to cram in a Jeremy Lin reference. Note: Jeremy Lin has a regular sized head. Because Taiwan? (h/t to Josh Mendoza)

Your Gruesome Bosnian Soccer Ankle Breaking Of The Day

Written by Brandon Stroud / 04.11.13

Here’s 19-year-old FK Željezničar Sarajevo midfielder Nermin Zolotić, a man with pro-level soccer skills, a team name that is extremely difficult to type and only one functioning leg. What happened to the other one, you may ask?

Bosnian international player Nermin Zolotic suffered a horrible leg injury during his side’s Zeljeznicar clash against Zrinjski on 4/10/2013. Please pray for this boy, this looks really bad

If you watch the clip, you can see his opponent step down directly onto the ankle, snapping it and leaving poor Zolotic lying on the field to roll around in shock. You can’t even freak out when something like this happens, you just have to sit there with your arms out until somebody wanders over and carts you away. The pain and agony comes later. I don’t think the human brain can process anything deeper than, “welp, my leg is jelly.”

I would offer to pray, but I’m not sure I can properly pronounce Nermin’s name, and I don’t want some other guy in Bosnia to have a super-powered left ankle because I willed it.

Metta World Peace Got His Healing Powers By Being Too Sexy For His Cat, Or Something

Written by Brandon Stroud / 04.10.13

Metta World Peace Too Sexy

The question: “Metta World Peace, you had knee surgery 12 days ago. How is it possible that you’re playing in tonight’s game against the Hornets?”

The answer he gave in the Los Angeles Times:

“It’s not about how strong I am playing tomorrow night,” said World Peace. “It’s about how strong I was playing three games ago. I was ready to play.”

The doctors “were amazed at how the swelling didn’t even exist. That’s off of meniscus surgery,” he said. “You can play, but it’s the swelling that keeps you from playing. I didn’t have [any swelling] and that’s why I wanted to play right away.”

The answer he gave when somebody asked him the question to his face: “I’m too sexy for my cat.”

No, seriously.

Michelle Jenneke’s Busted Hamstring Is Doing Wonders For Her Instagram

Written by Brandon Stroud / 03.05.13

Michelle Jenneke injured

You remember Australian hurdler Michelle Jenneke, right? If you don’t, here’s a quick rundown of her career to date:

1. She went crazy viral last July when we shared a video of her enthusiastically dancing during the Women’s 100 metres hurdles at the 14th IAAF World Junior Championships in Barcelona.
2. The Daily Mail, Bleacher Report and Huffington Post called us perverts for “unapologetically” sharing a slow-motion video of her dancing. You know, that they then shared by talking about how we shared it.
3. The Internet reacted badly, sending her nude photo spread and porn offers.
4. She decides to go hang out with the guys from theCHIVE, which is like a Red Sox player going to New York because they got offered more money.
5. Sports Illustrated gets her to dance in a swimsuit.

Now her time is mostly spent doing radio interviews and talk shows. She’s still trying to hurdle, at least, and recently went down with a hamstring injury. Because she is a young, beautiful person in the year 2013, she’s been chronicling the ailment on Instagram, and if you know anything about the placement of the hamstring, you’ll know that … yeah, it’s just pictures of her butt.

Here’s what she’s posted so far, you* pervert.

Serena Williams Lost Because Her Leg Decided To Cosplay The Nutty Professor

Written by Brandon Stroud / 01.24.13

Serena Williams upset

19-year-old tennis star Sloane Stephens became a Brent-Musburger-style overnight sensation when she upset Serena Williams at the Australian Open, gaining almost 40,000 Twitter followers in one night and earning congratulatory tweets from Shaq, Dirk Nowitzki, singer John Legend and more.

Serena’s response to the upset was pretty predictable — at one point she angrily broke her own racquet — but a quick look at Serena’s Twitter reveals why she might’ve been in a bad mood, and why she might’ve not been at 100% going into the match. I don’t want to overstate it, but it looks like her ankle ate the three-course meal chewing gum from Willy Wonka’s factory.

A pic of the swollen ankle is below. Warning: it may give you The Klumps flashbacks.

A Little Girl’s Letter About Arian Foster’s Heart Is The Most Adorable Thing You’ll See Today

Written by Brandon Stroud / 12.27.12

Arian Foster I hope your heart feels better!

Lately, we’ve been trying to focus more on the positive side of sports news and gossip, which means more Dirk Nowitzki dressed up as Dr. Satan for the benefit of children or Daniel Bryan letting a little boy with cancer tap him out and less TMZ comparing women to sows. Even that had Kate Upton pictures in it. This trend will probably reverse when the new year drops and suddenly everybody has a sex tape, but for now, it’s a good thing.

In the spirit of positivity, here’s my favorite story of the day — a young Houston Texans fan became concerned when Arian Foster left the team’s 23-6 loss to the Minnesota Vikings early with an irregular heartbeat, so she decided to write him a letter to tell him he’s the best player on the team, and that she hopes his heart feels better. And she drew the logo!

As cute as that is, what makes the story truly great (and different from the time I wrote a letter to Cal Ripken Jr. when I was four with an enclosed macaroni & cheese baseball card and did not/have not heard back from him in almost 30 years) is the fact that Foster saw the letter, and took to Twitter to respond. He didn’t draw any logos, but it’s almost as adorable:
