Seton Hall University polled a whole bunch of women on that Inez Sainz business that happened in the New York Jets locker room a couple weeks ago, and the results were interesting: almost three-fifths of women polled said that women don’t belong in NFL locker rooms. Not surprisingly, almost 90 percent thought that this dress made them look fat.

The telephone poll conducted this week among 1,026 randomly selected adults nationwide found 59 percent of 556 women and 47 percent of 470 men said female reporters should be banned from NFL locker rooms. Thirty-four percent of the respondents said all reporters should be banned. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

“It is unusual to find women more than men in favor of limiting a woman’s right, in this case a reporter in a men’s locker room,” Rick Gentile, director of the Seton Hall Sports Poll, said in a statement. –NJ Star-Led.

I don’t really think of interviewing naked athletes to be a right in any sense, but rather a privilege extended to both male and female representatives of the media. I’ve asked this before: why is anybody other than athletes in there? The press can do their interviews outside, or at practice. The last thing this cruel world of ours needs is more penis.

Usually the words “Playboy Playmate” and “college football locker room” are only used when brainstorming porno ideas, but UCF alumni Shanna McLaughlin seems to be the exception to the rule. Shanna did a photo with aXis Magazine inside her alma mater’s locker room, a move approved by head coach George O’Leary. And here I was, thinking that kind of recruiting only happened at SEC schools.

“I approved the magazine,” O’Leary told a Sentinel reporter after practice ended Saturday. “The guy called my office and basically wanted to know if they could do a magazine shoot. There was a UCF girl who had her MBA and all that. And the only thing I asked is, ‘Is that a magazine that is distributed on campus?’ And they said, ‘Yes.’ They’ve done I think four, since I’ve been here at least four, initial copies of football [previews] opening up the football season.”

Nothing says your school has the glitz and glamor of Florida, Miami, or Florida State like apologizing for having Playmates in your locker room. George has made some questionable decisions while serving as a head coach throughout his career, so what does he have to lose? It’s awful that he’s in hot water for this, while Rick Pitino gets off unscathed for his sexcapades. The folks at Louisville probably felt sorrier for Rick than anything else.
