Check Out LeBron James’ High School Stats

Written by Ashley Burns / 05.20.13

"Hey guys, let's make a pack to stay best friends forever."

This is a few days (and years, if you’re a stickler for details) old, but the folks over at LeBronJames.com posted some scanned images of LeBron James’ stat sheets from his high school seasons, and without a single ounce of shock in the entire world, they reveal that he was a man among boys. The self-anointed King and four-time NBA MVP averaged 18.1 points per game in his freshman season at St. Vincent-St. Mary, and it only got better from there, as he averaged 30.4 ppg by his senior season.

James also recently took a break from steamrolling the NBA Playoffs to donate $1 million to his old high school to renovate the gym that helped make him a household name when he wasn’t even old enough to vote. Hopefully, some of that money includes a giant throne for when he returns to view games. It should have a glass case around it like the Popemobile for good measure, since some people in Ohio are still emotionally unsure of how to feel about James, lingering somewhere between, “TRAITOR! I HOPE YOU’RE EATEN BY BEARS!” and “Maybe he’ll opt out in Miami and come back to Cleveland!”

Either way, his old stats should make even the most confident high school athletes feel like they were in the cast of Freaks and Geeks.

Should We Endorse This Kid Who Asked Kate Upton To Be His Prom Date?

Written by Ashley Burns / 03.19.13

Los Angeles high school student Jake Davidson is a man with a dream. Well, technically he’s one of millions of men, ages 13 to 90, with a dream of wooing our favorite Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover model and celebrity sports fan Kate Upton. Unfortunately, I think many of us – at least those of us in the non-psycho category – have realized that unless we can throw a 101-mph fastball through 9 innings and 110 pitches, we don’t stand much of a chance when it comes to stealing Upton’s heart.

But not being a Cy Young-winning pitcher won’t stand in Jake’s way, because he is staying the course in his desire to embarrass himself in Upton’s presence, as he recently recorded and posted a video dedicated to the two-time SI cover model, asking her to be his date to his prom.

Tim Tebow Is A Terrible Influence

Written by Ashley Burns / 12.16.11

Four students at Riverhead High School in New York were given one day of internal suspension after they were caught Tebowing in the hallway between classes. The students, whose names we refuse to list because they are minors and don’t have hot older sisters, apparently orchestrated a mass Tebowing of dozens of students after they had been warned three times to stop their meme antics. But ease up, dudes, these bros were just paying tribute to their hero, Tim Tebow. Their bad, Supernintendo Chalmers.

“We’ve been doing it all week,” said Tyler Carroll (whoops) of Calverton. “We started on Monday. We saw Tebow doing it and thought it would be funny. More people saw and started to join in. It was really catching fire.”

(Via the Riverhead News-Review)

See? It was all in good fun. But along came Betty Badass and her strict rule book and these four good apples gone bad felt the devil’s thunder. I bet the superintendent had some super bitchy response, too. They always do.
