Miley Cyrus Makes Her Junior Hockey Line Brawl & Goalie Fight Debut

Written by Brandon Stroud / 12.26.12

SIJHL Goalie Fight Miley CyrusThe YouTube description for this video only gives you the basics:

Minnesota Wilderness and Thunder Bay North Stars square off.

Those team names are adorable. They’re like somebody made an SNES NHL game and couldn’t get the licensing rights to the teams, so they came up with ersatz clubs like the “Thunder Bay North Stars.”

Anyway, what the YouTube description leaves out are the wonderful details … the goalie’s existential reaction, the inevitable goalie fight (goalie fights are always the best) and the fact that midway through, for no possible reason, ‘Party In The USA’ by Miley Cyrus starts playing. Nothing says “SIJHL line brawl” quite the ballad of a girl being judged by her shoes!

If pro hockey wants to eliminate fighting, they should just stock up on Now That’s What I Call Music CDs and blare them whenever punches are thrown. I know I’d never want to start a fight if I knew ‘Tonight (I’m F**kin’ You)’ by Enrique Iglesias was gonna kick in and make me look like a creep.

SPHL Holds ‘Military Appreciation Night,’ Lets Its Goalies Murder Each Other

Flyers Surge Goalie Fight

Test of strength!

I have a new favorite MMA fight: SPHL goalies Ross MacKinnon and Kiefer Smiley ending ‘Military Appreciation Night’ with a post-buzzer brawl to settle the score after the Pensacola Ice Flyers’ 4-3 victory over the Mississippi Surge.

It’s got everything. MacKinnon lands a stiff, snap left to start the fight and you think he’s going to steamroll this guy, but the punch just causes Smiley to HULK THE HELL UP and whomp the dog shit out of MacKinnon for the rest of the fight. It’s glorious. The fight is over before they reach the boards, but the refs let it go, and Ross learns an important lesson: never f**k with a guy with ‘smile’ in his name. He will END YOU.

And while we’re on the subject of names, I absolutely do not want to know where the ‘Mississippi Surge’ got their name, or what that is.

Video of this epic showdown is below, courtesy of our friends at Puck Daddy:

Goalie Fight!

Written by samerochocinco / 02.03.11

Fights in hockey have always been a key part of the game, for entertaining and also strategic reasons, but rarely do you get to see the goaltenders ever scrap it out. When it does happen, however, it’s always a delight, even if the fight itself is shitty. The pure action of seeing two guys trying to beat each other up while wearing tons of padding and pants that look like they belong in a maternity store is truly beautiful. That was the case with last night’s fight between Rick DiPietro and Brent Johnson, of the New York Islanders and Pittsburgh Penguins, respectively. Although DiPietro ends on the losing side of the scuffle, he does get points for knocking down Matt Cooke right before. F-ck Matt Cooke. Name me someone who likes Matt Cooke and I’ll show you an asshole. It won’t be my asshole, though. That will cost you a nice dinner and fun evening.

Video after the jump.
