Tonight, on the WWE Raw open discussion thread:

The WWE Universe has itself a new WWE Championship, but the big question now is: Who will challenge for the fresh-faced prize at WrestleMania 29? On the one hand, you have John Cena, the current No. 1 contender following his Royal Rumble Match victory in January. On the other is CM Punk, who goaded Cena into putting his WrestleMania WWE Title opportunity up for grabs in a one-on-one renewal of their long-running rivalry. While Cena and Punk settle their score, however, trouble is brewing in Team Hell No’s shaky friendship, and Paul Heyman gets ready for the fight of his life against an injured — but eager — Mr. McMahon. Here are five things to look forward to on Monday’s Raw.

Also, the WWE Universe eagerly awaits Glenn Beck’s reply to the formal invitation from WWE officials to address his criticisms of Jack Swagger and Zeb Colter. Will the famous politico show? (via WWE.com)

Pujols To Attend Glenn Beck Rally

Written by Ashley Burns / 08.27.10

Since learning that St. Louis Cardinals Manager Tony LaRussa and Triple Crown contender Albert Pujols will be attending Glenn Beck’s “Restoring Honor” rally in Washington DC this weekend, phones have been ringing off the hook at Busch Stadium. I know this because I haven’t been able to call Felipe Lopez today to ask him how his hunt for the single season errors record is going. It’s no debate that Beck is a polarizing figure in the world of political talking heads, and it certainly doesn’t help that LaRussa previously made news for endorsing Arizona’s immigration law.

However, despite the outrage over their decision to attend, LaRussa insists that it has nothing to do with politics. Regardless, shouldn’t the anti-Beck contingent be hopeful that the man with the strongest bat in baseball is going to be in the same place as the Fox News pundit?

Salute my Washington Monument, Huffington Post:

“I made it clear when we were approached: I said, ‘If it’s political, I wouldn’t even approach Albert with it.’ I don’t want to be there if it’s political,” La Russa said. “I don’t know who’s going to be there, who’s going to accept it. But the gist of the day is not political. I think it’s a really good concept, actually.”

Beck’s rally will also feature former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

So instead of talking about how Pujols and my pick for NL MVP, Joey Votto, are neck-and-neck to win a Triple Crown this year, we’re going to hear about how terrible LaRussa and Pujols are for exercising their liberties and attending a speaking event while they’re in DC to play the Nationals. Maybe the Cardinals just want to be around a crowd of people at some point during this series.

Glenn Beck Doesn’t Watch Football

GLENN BECK BRIAN URLACHERRecently, some celebrities were named to a list called “The Blackest White Folks We Know,” put together by TheRoot.com. Well, Glenn Beck certainly wouldn’t be Glenn Beck if he didn’t say something about it on his show. After going through the list chalkboard-style, Glenn came across a picture of Paris Hilton lover Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher. Beck, who apparently isn’t a football fan, had some less-than-kind words for the man he failed to recognize.

Theroot.com put together a list called, “The Blackest White Folks We Know.” Among the names that made the list was Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher. So Glen Beck from Fox News was analyzing the list the Root.com came up with in his usual blackboard style..looking at all the pictures commenting.. As he went through pictures of his peers on the list he said.. “There’s Madonna. Bill Clinton, of course I know,” Beck said. And then the dude points at Urlacher, and says, “I think this guy’s a neo-Nazi.” –Terez Owens

That’s a pretty big gaffe from Glenn. He should send a fruit basket and an apology note written in calligraphy over to Brian’s house. Not because I’m angry or offended, but because Urlacher could very easily rip out his throat. Video after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »
