Gangnam Style Is Officially Dead. Thanks A Lot, NFL On Fox.

Written by Brandon Stroud / 10.08.12

NFL On Fox Gangnam StyleWe hope you enjoyed it while it lasted.

Psy’s international hit ‘Gangnam Style’ has gone Full Macarena. What started off as funny thing to share with people on the Internet became a legitimate crossover success, grew into a slew of on-the-ball parody videos and eventually became a kinda-tired thing that was still fun to do with cheerleaders. Now, thanks to NFL On Fox, Gangnam Style has reached its penultimate evolutionary milestone: it’s a thing old people do when they’re trying to be funny. Now it either has to explode, or show up five years from now in an Adam Sandler comedy (or on wrestling) to complete the cycle.

Anyway, they look like they’re having fun, so I can’t talk too much shit about it, but man, I don’t ever want Jimmy Johnson to look at me like that again. It’s like he’s erotically churning butter.

Nobody Tell Tim Hardaway About The Gangnam State Warriors

Written by Brandon Stroud / 10.01.12

Psy Gangnam Style Golden State Warriors

Is this PSY or Warriors hype man Franco Finn? You make the call …

PSY, IT’S PSY

So yeah, here’s another Gangnam Style video (the “Gangnam State Warriors”), but this one features the Golden State Warriors cheerleaders, so that’s something. Cheerleaders, dancers, whatever. Plus, Franco Finn does a pretty excellent Psy impression. You’ll need that for this Halloween, when every fourth person you pass will be dressed as Psy.

Video is below. If you’ve got reservations about watching this, remember: it’s only like a minute and a half long, and Golden State has some pretty phenomenal-ass dancers.

Dwight Howard Is On A PR Tour, Goin’ Each And Every Place With A Mic In His Hand

Written by Ashley Burns / 09.28.12

Dwight Howard said over and over that he didn’t want to play for the Los Angeles Lakers. Even after he was traded to L.A., he still openly stated that he wanted to be in Brooklyn, playing for the Nets. And while he’ll likely never openly admit that his ties to Brooklyn (allegedly) developed because it meant jobs with Jay-Z and ESPN for his friends, and that Adidas was going to pay him more than Derrick Rose money to be the face of New York’s newer, cooler franchise, he’ll still get more than he ever hoped for with the Lakers.

People have already mostly forgotten that Howard made LeBron James look like Mother Theresa in the way he handled his departure from the Orlando Magic. After all, Orlando is a one-horse town that really only offers a star like Howard the convenience of no state income tax, which is why he’s keeping his home in Central Florida, despite purchasing a $20 million mansion in California. But we’re forgetting what a selfish a-hole child he behaved like, because Howard has unlimited PR tools at his disposal. First up, Ellen.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Cheerleaders Go Gangnam Style, Because That’s Still A Thing

Written by Brandon Stroud / 09.27.12

Captain Fear from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and, more importantly, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers cheerleaders have produced their own Gangnam Style video. Somewhere the Oregon Duck is rolling his eyes and quacking about how he did this a month ago, when Gangnam Style didn’t get on everybody’s nerves. (via Bush League Chronicle)

Gangnam Style Rampage Jackson, Everybody

Written by Brandon Stroud / 09.25.12

Rampage Jackson Gangnam Style

So far, our coverage of sports-related instances of ‘Gangnam Style’ has been light. I couldn’t resist writing about the Oregon Duck’s version (because it is awesome), but I’m not quick to relive the ‘Call Me Maybe’ parody and tribute video terrors of the spring and summer.

That said, here’s Gangnam Style Rampage Jackson.

Funny enough, this clip of Jackson doing Psy’s signature horsey dance contains less air humping than a normal Rampage interview. If you need more backstory than “everybody loves that song and Rampage will do anything for attention”, here’s a recap from Maggie Hendricks over at Cagewriter:

Jackson had communicated with Psy via Twitter, telling him he’s working on the dance that has become a viral sensation. He also said he was practicing the dance by himself when a teammate walked in. Awkward!

Skip to the 1:15 mark in the video to check out the dancing. Ariel Helwani’s a much better interviewer than me, I would’ve just stood up and flipped the table.

Oregon Duck Gangnam Style Is Happening And Nobody Can Stop It

Written by Brandon Stroud / 08.30.12

Oregon Duck Gungnam Style

I’ve got to be honest. I’ve read the Official Guide provided by the UPROXX mothership and six days later I still have no f**king clue what Gangnam Style is.

That being said, Burnsy sent me an e-mail titled IMPORTANT with a link to the Oregon Duck going Gangnam Style (do you DO Gangnam Style or GO Gangnam Style? Go sounds better) and I would be a terrible, terrible person if I didn’t share it with you. Please consult that style guide I linked in the opening paragraph, then proceed beyond the cut, where Oregon Duck Gangnam Style awaits you.
