Friday Face-Off (On Monday): Who Dougied Better, Jeremy Lin Or Kate Upton?

02.13.12 Written by Brandon

jeremy-lin-dougieBy way of Buzzfeed comes this video of Jeremy Lin doing “The Dougie” during his rookie year at Golden State. You know why? ‘Cause all his bitches love him.

This is, of course, in direct confliction with the greatest of all Dougie instructional videos — Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Kate Upton doing The Dougie at a Los Angeles Clippers game, a clip so great it topped our list of the 20 Greatest Sports Moments Of 2011.

That video (as if you haven’t seen it 200 times already) is below, followed by an important question: if you could learn to Dougie from only one master, who would you choose?

Friday Face-Off: Which Desperate Internet Girl Should Win A Date With Tim Tebow?

01.13.12 Written by Burnsy

Welcome to our weekly installment of Friday Face-Off, which pits two insanely popular YouTube videos against each other to determine which is the champion of the week. Most of the time, these videos will involve adorable animals or hilarious violence. But sometimes, they might just involve sports. As always, send your submissions to BurnsyWL@gmail.com and if your video wins you will receive one of our brand new, not-yet-seen With Leather t-shirts.

This week has undoubtedly been about one man – Denver Broncos QB Tim Tebow. After he helped lead the Broncos to a wild card game victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers, Tebow has been the non-stop focus of every major sports media outlet, including flat out absurd knob polishing by the Worldwide Leader.

But what we’ve been fascinated by is Tebow’s impression on the average Joe. In this case, it’s what he’s doing to the average Janes that is highlighting today’s Friday-Faceoff. Last summer, the viral video of the moment belonged to our beloved service men and women asking various celebrities to attend their respective Marine Balls. Obviously, Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis both famously accepted their invites and attended. But now the spotlight shines at Tebow.

Two girls have recently created YouTube videos asking the Hunk of the Holiest Huddle to be their date for two different events. One is simply asking for Timmy to take her out for a date date, while the other wants him on her arm for her sorority formal. Decisions, decisions. So what say you, With Leatherites? Shall we help Tebow make his choice?

Friday Face-Off: Who Is The Best At Dramatic Readings Of Awful Pop Songs?

01.06.12 Written by Burnsy

Welcome to our mostly weekly video competition feature, Friday Face-Off, in which we pit two or more videos against each other for the purpose of determining which is the greatest video on the entire Internet that week. Most of the time they’ll involve animals or violence, which are both awesome. Feel free to submit videos to BurnsyWL@gmail.com and if your video wins, you’ll get a With Leather t-shirt like the one that Derrick Bateman wore on WWE NXT.

I’m going to start this week’s Friday Face-Off with a little open message to marketing teams for pro sports franchises: I know that it’s a very common practice – and generally just easy – to take popular viral videos and create team promotional materials out of them. For instance, if a ref makes a bad call, cue the Dramatic Chipmunk, or offer fans free t-shirts if they show up and put on a preseason pep rally flash mob. And that’s fine, because you don’t get paid much and people are easily amused, so it benefits everyone. Just keep stuff timely…

… Which segues nicely into the first video of today – Dallas Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki giving a dramatic reading of the Britney Spears hit, “Oops, I did it again.” It’s not the timeliest idea, but I’ll give the Mavs some credit – it’s still pretty damn funny. But does it stand up against some of the Internet’s greatest celebrity dramatic readings? You decide after the jump.

Friday Face-Off: Siku The Orphan Polar Bear Vs. A Gun-Toting Santa Claus

12.23.11 Written by Burnsy

Welcome to our weekly installment of Friday Face-Off, in which we pit two random videos against each other in the ultimate battle of “Awwww” and “Oh snap!” as you, our glorious With Leatherites, determine which video shall forever live in infamy as a champion. As always, feel free to submit videos to BurnsyWL@gmail.com and winning videos will receive our super cool, not-for-sale-anywhere With Leather t-shirts.

As we tip-toe toward Christmas, I thought we’d try a little experiment to see if it’s possible for anything to be better than Santa Claus, who is totally real despite what my brother has been telling me for 27 years. Obviously I have a great deal of respect for the other many wonderful holidays that take place at this time of year, but they don’t have any mascots with immense commercial appeal, so maybe they should try a little harder.

That said, our first video this week is a super heavyweight contender, as it features the world’s most popular animal of the week, Siku the polar bear cub, who was abandoned by his mom because she couldn’t produce milk. Abandoned. On Christmas. Is it cold in here? Then it’s time to turn up the cute.

Friday Face-Off: A Penguin Fetches A Newspaper vs. Psychotic Boyfriend In A Truck

12.16.11 Written by Burnsy

Today’s Friday Face-Off is brought to you buy Kayaking Dog, who popped up at Imgur earlier this week and quickly stole the Internet’s heart. He has nothing to do with today’s videos, but he would like to remind you that this is a weekly competition between two random videos that I’ve found while wasting my days and we highly encourage you to help us choose which one is better. Feel free to submit suggestions to BurnsyWL@gmail.com, and if your submission is chosen you will win a With Leather t-shirt that all the ladies are going crazy over.

For this week’s Friday Face-Off, I thought I’d make the choice a little more difficult by playing on two of our favorite things – animals doing awesome stuff and ridiculously unbelievable violence and destruction. You know, raise the bar a bit and make us really have to think about this while we’re ignoring whatever the hell we’re supposed to be doing.

First up, a penguin. But this isn’t just any penguin. This is a penguin that has apparently been trained like a dog and that is awesome. I’m obsessed with penguins because they just seem so cool, like they should be able to talk to us and give advice. This one can fetch a newspaper, and while I can’t remember the last time I picked up a newspaper, I would totally start reading them again if penguins brought them to me.
