A CBS Blogger Pissed Off The Internet By Asking If This Thunder Dancer Is ‘Too Chunky’

Written by Ashley Burns / 04.29.13

I don’t know why Anna-Megan Raley blogs for CBS Houston under the name Claire Crawford, but after last week, I assume it’s because it allowed her to get away with writing incendiary click bait with headlines like, “Is This Girl ‘Too Chunky’ To Be An OKC Thunder Cheerleader?” Yeah, sh*t just got real.

First, let’s consider some actual talking points for the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round of the NBA Playoffs. For starters, there’s the question of how the team plans to return to the Finals with Russell Westbrook out for the playoffs after knee surgery. One step further, there’s the timing of Kevin Durant’s Sports Illustrated cover, on which he claims he’s ready to be the NBA’s No. 1, as he must now carry the Thunder on his back. And there are obviously many more angles one could run with, but Raley believed that a Thunder dancer’s muffin top was the Pulitzer magnet.

Raley drew the ire of her site’s readers and beyond when she asked the aforementioned question of Thunder dancer Kelsey Williams, who you can see in the banner image.

Kate Upton Is Still A Big Fat Moo Cow, According To Idiots

Kate Upton rapping

Last July, someone calling herself “Skinny Gurl” at a site called Skinny Gossip unlocked the key to eternal trolling and site traffic when she wrote a blog post calling Kate Upton a cannibal. Obviously, our favorite celebrity sports fan and Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover model doesn’t devour human flesh – not that we know of, nor do we judge – but Skinny Gurl was instead making a joke that Upton’s infamous Carl’s Jr. commercial, in which she very sexily ate a hamburger, made her a cannibal because she’s a fat cow.

Unfortunately, as much as we wished Skinny Gurl to suffer endless attacks at the wrathful hand of Anonymous, her stupid, hateful, jealous post has a legacy now as a golden standard for fat-shaming girls who aren’t actually fat. Need proof? Here’s a random post about Upton’s second-consecutive Swimsuit Issue cover, and just read how quickly the focus changes from milestone to FATTY FAT FAT FAT.

And if that’s not enough, New York Magazine’s The Cut tracked down Upton’s trainer, David Kirsch, to find out why people gotta hate.

Nathan From The Nike Commercial Finally Speaks Out… And Just In Time

Written by Ashley Burns / 08.14.12

From the earliest planning stages of the 2012 Summer Olympics, one of the (surprisingly and needlessly) biggest stories was about the involvement of McDonald’s with the fast food chain’s creation of its largest store yet, right in the heart of London’s Olympic Village. It turns out that McDonald’s – like most major sponsors of the 2012 games – had a relative stranglehold on the food market, as only Grimace and Co. were allowed to sell French fries.

What happens, then, when you pit a global celebration of the greatest young athletes from every country against the financial dominance of high calories and pink meat paste? According to a vague, poorly-written article, obesity will always find a way to triumph over exercise.

Ans as the BBC drew in record viewers for the Games, the capital shunned exercise regimes and instead indulged in the fun of the Olympics with extra snacks and alcohol in front of the T.V. leading to a whopping 18.9m stone weight gain across the UK.

And Londeners were the biggest snacking offenders with an average weight gain of 5.2 lbs. (Via The Daily Mail)

Great, people are blaming their weight gain on their own decision to sit on the couch and eat as if someone held a gun to their heads and forced them to watch the events, instead of getting up and walking around. I’m so sick and tired of this kind of lazy blame-shifting. If only we had someone with the right attitude to inspire us.

Perhaps there’s a certain 12-year old from America’s London who wants to once again help us find our greatness.
