Noted bloggerati Unsilent Majority and Sarah Schorno spent a weekend in Vegas to check out the new Lagasse’s Stadium. It’s a new restaurant and bar nestled squarely into the Palazzo hotel lobby, promising entertainment and food and over 100 HDTVs in case you hate everyone at your table. UM and Sarah wrote something up for their trip about the newest venture from famed TV chef Emeril Lagasse; their words are after the jump.

Dara Torres turns 42 on Wednesday, and I have no idea what to get her! What do you buy for the woman that has, of all things, her own milk ad? Yeah, I said milk, sadly. The campaign starts today. Here’s the copy, which is sadly pretty lame, and makes no mention of how I’d lick her choice of dairy products out from in between her abs.

Dairy Torres. I’m a natural in water. But after a workout, my natural choice is milk. It’s a strong starting block for wellness. The protein helps build muscle, plus its nutrients help me refuel. Three glasses of lowfat or fat free milk a day. Lap it up.

Okay, maybe they did mention it. Torres claims that resistance stretching is the training technique that’s allowed her to compete at a world-class level into her 40s. I don’t know what that is, but it sounds kinky. And now Torres says that she will compete in London for the 2012 games, and then I suspect she’ll do Playboy, oh, I can’t wait! It’s like the Olsen twins’ 18th birthday countdown all over again!

This is Dara Torres, whom you’ll remember for swimming in the Beijing Olympics. And winning three silver medals. At the age of 41. And now, she’s talking about competing in the London Games in 2012. She’d be 45 by then, but it’s always good form to not inquire about a woman’s age; nothing kills a hardon like basic math, except maybe a massive forehead and veins protruding out of your hands. You know, if you’re not into that sort of thing.

When Bob Costas asked if she was ruling out 2012, Torres said, “I’ve learned to never say never. … I love competing. … I’m still improving, so why not keep going until I’ve hit my peak?”

Why not keep going until I’ve hit my peak? I tried this line in high school all the time and it never worked for me. But then, I wasn’t much of a swimmer. Those orange arm floaties aren’t really conducive to getting laid. So in that sense, they might have been the greatest birth control device ever.

After she earned a surprising berth to the Olympic team by winning the women's 100-meter free (she later withdrew from that event to focus on the 50m in Beijing), swimmer Dara Torres became a flashpoint for discussion, drawing both the suspicion of steroid McCarthyites and the awe of regular folk seeing a 41-year-old mother win a world-class anaerobic sporting event.

Interestingly, her two-year-old daughter Tess didn't arrive in this world without some apparent, umm… trial and error.  Torres had a 16-month marriage to Itzhak Shasha, a Palm Beach surgeon who is 20 years her senior.  After their divorce, Torres remarried and got pregnant — to the fertility doctor who treated Shasha and Torres when they were together.  Yup, that's a burn.

"Believe me, I've achieved many significant things in my life," [Shasha] said, "and none of them was being married to her. I don't want to talk about that marriage, and I don't want to talk about her."

Yeah, if I had a wife with a rock-hard body that I couldn't get pregnant because I was a flaccid old man, I probably wouldn't want to talk about it, either.  Good thing my virility will never wane.  I've got the mythical Cock of Ages.  Line forms to the left, ladies.
