Pre show notes:

- For those of you that may not know me, my name is Danny Boy Downes (not actual legal name). I’m a college graduate turned UFC fighter turned UFC writer turned back up blogger for pro wrestling. While it’s been a hell of an adventure, it does mean that my parents fail to acknowledge anything I’ve done since I won the 8th grade spelling bee.

For the record, I want everyone to know my commitment to deliver you fine people the Best and Worst of Money in the Bank. This weekend was my bachelor party trip down to Kansas City and despite a massive hangover, I still decided to get things done. Some of highlights include: explaining to someone that you’re not really supposed to call the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum the “Negro Museum.” and my drunken best man decided to yelling at 4:30am that, “Bob Backlund would chicken wing the shit out of Verne Gagne.”

- Be sure to leave a comment on the report and click the “like” button. Not only does it help the people at With Leather, but it will make up for the lack of love I get from my family

- Thanks to Casey for the pics and gifs.

- Follow me on Twitter @dannyboydownes, check out my articles on ufc.com and UFC Magazine and read some of my other reviews here.

On to the wrestling!

If Only These UFC Action Figures Were Real

Written by Ashley Burns / 04.23.12

"I'm going to Legoland!"

In case you missed it on Saturday, we had a few friends over for the UFC 145 Pay-Per-View, including UFC.com writer, blogger and fighter “Danny Boy” Downes and FilmDrunk daddy and MMA aficionado Vince “Spicy Meat-a-ball” Mancini. Of course we thank them for their time and contributions, as well as you commenters for making that one of the more enjoyable UFC pay-per-views in recent memory, so you can expect that we’ll be doing this – or something similar – again. As for the fights, here are the official results that caused so many of you to shake your meat hooks in rage:

Marcus Brimage d. Maximo Blanco – Split decision (28-29, 29-28, 30-27)
Chris Clements d. Keith Wisniewski – Split decision (28-29, 29-28, 30-27)
Mac Danzig d. Efrain Escudero – Unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 30-27)
Anthony Njokuani d. John Makdessi – Unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
Matt Brown d. Stephen Thompson – Unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 30-27)
Travis Browne d. Chad Griggs – Submission
Eddie Yagin d. Mark Hominick – Split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)
Michael McDonald d. Miguel Torres – KO (punches)
Ben Rothwell d. Brendan Schab – KO
Rory MacDonald d. Che Mills – TKO
Jon Jones d. Rashad Evans – Unanimous decision (49-46, 49-46, 50-45)

Of course, I was more pleased that Vince brought up Cecil Peoples – one of the most notoriously criticized officials in MMA history – and someone mentioned the Cecil Peoples action figure, because I had all but forgotten about a series of fake UFC toys created by a Sherdog forum user named Masato a few years ago.

They’re always worth sharing because the Steven Seagal action figure with its guitar/assault rifle should be real, dammit.

Reminder: The UFC 145 Live-Blog With Danny Boy & Vince Mancini Happens Tomorrow Night

Written by Brandon Stroud / 04.20.12

jon-jones-rashad-evans-ufc-145

Tomorrow’s the big day: UFC 145 kicks off at 7PM/10PM PST/EST, and With Leather gets two special guests to help us live blog the festivities — UFC veteran and current UFC.com writer Daniel “Danny Boy” Downes and kingsh*t UPROXX UFC expert/FilmDrunk maestro Vince Mancini. It’s going to be a great time, and if you’re the kind of person who likes sports and jokes, you need to be there. And if you aren’t … what the hell are you doing here?

We’ve got a counter at the top of the page as a reminder, and the best advice I can give you is to sit still and stare at it until it ends. The live-blog itself goes live at midnight tonight, so you can spend all day making your predictions, laughing about how quickly the dudes get knocked out in the Facebook fights and earning our first ever MMA-themed commenting badge. We’re keeping that one under wraps for now.

So bookmark the page (which is just a placeholder for now) and be back tomorrow for the most fun you can have watching two guys beat the hell out of each other.
