Vince McMahon And Dana White Are Definitely Probably Not Going To Fake Fight For Real

Dana White Vince McMahon tale of the tape

UFC Tonight has the scoop on the rumored Dana White vs Vince McMahon superfight. Could this be the real deal? Chael Sonnen and Kenny Florian break the two presidents down for a better look.

This is my new favorite Not News story, because everyone involved is handling it properly, and even Chael Sonnen is hitting the right notes.

Vince McMahon suggested to Dana White that they “do something.” In Vince terms that means “Dana White should show up to WrestleMania, and I’ll let him promote his stuff and if I’m in the right mood, I’ll let him bloody me with a trashcan and shave my face and toss me into a garbage truck, which will then carry me out of the arena and explode.” The other idea was to get into the octagon and duke it out for real, because Dana White is the president of an MMA company and Vince McMahon is way too confident and out of his f**king gourd. Dana’s response, from Dana’s mouth, was “you’re crazy.”

Chael Sonnen provided some analysis (after a spectacular “tale of the tape”) and followed-up like any UFC fighter should — by saying that Vince McMahon would literally die in a fight with Dana White, and that even the Undertaker couldn’t save him. Here’s the video:

Joe Rogan Is A Total Professional

Joe Rogan Dana White reaction

Not sure if Juggies ...

Joe Rogan is a forward-thinking gentleman with a great understanding of women. He’s absolutely the guy you want standing next to you, sending nonverbal cues to the audience as you announce the female coaches and fighters on the next cycle of ‘The Ultimate Fighter,’ a very important show to the continued mainstream success of your MMA company.

With that in mind, here’s Joe Rogan’s face during Dana White’s TUF announcement. Watch it closely and see if you can figure out what he’s thinking. Spoiler: he’s thinking, “this is a great idea and women are people.”

With Leather Live Discussion: UFC 157

Written by Ashley Burns / 02.22.13

Well, the big day is finally upon us. Tomorrow’s UFC 157 Pay-Per-View live from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California marks the debut of Ronda Rousey as the first ever Women’s Champion, as she’ll face off against Liz Carmouche in a main event match that most people, Dana White included, never thought would happen. We’ve been excited about it for quite some time, and now that it’s finally here… I’m a little nervous about it.

Let’s be real – there are a ton of male UFC fans who don’t want to watch this fight, and they will be cheering for it to suck so they can all pump their fists at White and demand that he never let it happen again. That’s why, on one hand, it’s important for Rousey to win and do it with authority so she can prove that she belongs in the UFC. On the other hand, if she does win with authority, then her presence could become a novelty and we may never have a true women’s opponent that can defeat her. On a third, mutant hand, if she loses, it could be the last we ever see of the women’s division, because everyone will be furious after all of the hype. And anything in between will be regarded as boring and fuel the debate against women being allowed on the main card.

That said, I’m not trying to soapbox or grandstand some great defense of women fighters, but I hope the majority of UFC fans are willing to give them a chance tomorrow night, and I hope Rousey and Carmouche put on a hell of a fight regardless of which woman wins.

Dana White Isn’t Surprised At All That The Olympics Booted Wrestling

Written by Ashley Burns / 02.15.13

Unrelated but wonderful.

By now you’re probably aware that the International Olympics Committee – long known for being a bastion of integrity and morality – has decided to do away with amateur wrestling as a Summer Olympic event. You know this because you read about it in a rational news source or Joe Rogan rage-Tweeted your feed or because Chael Sonnen screamed it into your eye holes, but either way it was bad news. And it sucks because there are dudes and young ladies around the world who busted their asses and devoted their formative years to something that they really loved. Now they’ll all probably turn to a life of crack and crime.

At least that’s what TV has taught me.

There are some people, though, who don’t care about who is hurt, and they just see this as a reality. Ultimately, we’re all going to have to get used to not watching amateur wrestling every four years, and guys like UFC President Dana White think that won’t be a problem because nobody was watching it anyway.

Randy Couture’s Son Wants Him In His Corner For His UFC Fights

Written by Ashley Burns / 02.11.13

The cast of Expendables 37, minus Vin Diesel and Jonathan Lipnicki.

Last week, Randy Couture inspired the national Mixed Martial Arts media to declare a collective, “What the f*ck, bro?” when he announced that he had signed a partnership deal with Bellator and Spike TV to be a coach on Fight Master: Bellator MMA. Couture, of course, is most widely associated with the UFC because, you know, he helped bring it to the forefront of American sports culture and he served as the face of the promotion for 15 years.

So you can imagine that UFC President Dana White wasn’t too happy with Couture’s new gig, enough that he proclaimed that Couture couldn’t even buy a ticket to a UFC event anymore. Of course that poses a bit of a personal problem for Couture, as his son Ryan now fights in the UFC and would like his father in his corner. Naturally, Randy would like that as well.

Rampage Jackson Is Acting Like Rampage Jackson With The Ladies Again

Written by Ashley Burns / 02.01.13

"So we meet again."

With what is believed to be his final UFC (or possibly any) fight behind him, Rampage Jackson isn’t really going out the way that he, or any fighter, would have liked, as Glover Teixeira played patty-cake with his face enough to get the W at last week’s UFC on FOX 6 event. So like any pissed off employee on his way out the front door, Jackson was quick to wipe his dirty boots all over Dana White’s couch, and he sat down with Karyn Bryant – yes, the same Karyn Bryant (above) whom Rampage previously motorboated – to discuss his deepest feelings about the promotion that made him a household name.

Most notably, Jackson accused White and the UFC of lying about PPV numbers so they could justify paying the fighters less and boosting their own paychecks.
