With Leather’s Watch This: Pizza! Pizza!

Written by Ashley Burns / 12.26.12

Wait, am I doing this right?

All right, I promised that I was going to stop writing about controversial topics or inciting passionate debate, but I have to get this off my chest. My rankings of the best major fast food pizza chains are as follows:

1) Little Caesars
2) Papa John’s
3) Hungry Howie’s
4) Pizza Hut
5) Domino’s Pizza

There. That feels better. Now, please keep in mind that I don’t eat any from any of these companies that often, as I prefer to eat local and fresh. I’ve also seen what happens behind the scenes in random stores of some of those companies, and let’s just say it was boogerific.

I have a soft spot for Little Caesars, though, because their $5 Hot N Ready pepperoni pizzas got me through some tough times in college, and every once in a while I think about trying to house one of them for old time’s sake. Then I check my latest cholesterol count and I cry into a bowl of celery.

In conclusion, hooray bowl games!

So, What’d You Get For Christmas?

Written by Brandon Stroud / 12.26.12

This video has been seen by about a billion people since it went up on Sunday and has probably been shared everywhere from WikiHow to your Geocities homepage, but we haven’t updated since Friday and don’t have any cromulent UPROXX network morning links, so here you go.

If you haven’t seen it, it’s one of the nicest videos uploaded over the holiday season, and way more enjoyable than watching a kid get a white iPhone and throw it across the room — an Alabama dad gets surprised with BCS National Title tickets for the Alabama/Notre Dame game in Miami on January 7. It’s a lot like last year when I surprised my dad with Cowboys tickets, except 1) I didn’t upload video of it, and 2) this guy won’t have to sit in the nosebleeds at Cowboy Stadium and watch Tony Romo get hurt five seconds into the game.

So, like the headline says, what’d you get for Christmas? Let’s get some holiday conversation going so we can pretend like it isn’t totally and completely over.

Sports On TV: Boy Meets World’s 20 Greatest Sports Moments

Written by Brandon Stroud / 11.21.12

Boy Meets World Sports

This week’s Sports On TV covers another show people have been requesting since the column’s inception: ‘Boy Meets World,’ the long-running TGIF staple that asked, “if Fred Savage can have a successful television show, shouldn’t his little brother have one as well?”

‘Boy Meets World’ ran for seven seasons from 1993 to 2000 on ABC, and now’s a better time than ever to look back on the show’s 158 episodes. Why? Take it away, Wikipedia!

n November 2012 it was reported that Disney Channel is in the early stages of development of a follow-up series titled ‘Girl Meets World,’ which will center around Cory and Topanga’s 13-year-old daughter. Boy Meets World co-creator Michael Jacobs will develop the series and serve as its executive producer and showrunner. It is yet unknown if any of the original actors will return if the series gets a pilot order or is greenlit as a series, although Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel are in talks to reprise their characters.

If that news excites you or a 12-year old in your household, you’re going to love this column. If you’ve never seen ‘Boy Meets World’ and don’t know what it has to do with sports, what’re you, new? Here’s a sneak preview of what’s inside: Olympic athletes, WWF wrestlers, at least six dozen people you’ll recognize from currently-popular TV shows and at least one insane, weird man dressed as Lance Armstrong. Enjoy.

The Best Of Reddit’s Troll Face College Football Logos

Written by Brandon Stroud / 10.02.12

College football Reddit troll face

Troll face college football logos, you guys.

If you don’t venture into the younger social circles of the Internet (or you aren’t a Redditor), here’s a quick recap of who the troll face (aka Coolface, aka Problem?) is, and why he’s so appropriate for college football.

Trollface is a black and white drawing of a face with a large mischievous grin that is meant to portray the expression someone makes while trolling. Posting a Trollface image into a forum thread is often used to claim that someone was being fooled or intentionally angered. The face commonly appears in rage comics indicating that the character is being mischievous in some way. (via Know Your Meme)

I’m not sure I can pick a favorite, but I’ve narrowed it down to the top shelf photoshop job on the Wisconsin Badger, or the LOL Guy stepping in for Chief Osceola.

Lest the troll gaze be turned onto me, the images in this gallery are credited in full to the fine folks at Reddit via @RedditCFB. The banner image is via Throw The Flag.

Smile, Because John L. Smith Demands It

Written by Brandon Stroud / 09.21.12

Feeling low? Had a tough week? Here’s Arkansas coach John L. Smith to scream “SMILE!” at you like he’s going to split your cheeks open like the f**king Joker until you start smiling and/or back out of the room.

This is the best/weirdest part:

John L. Smith SMILE Arkansas

It’s sorta like when you start crying, and your dad just yells STOP CRYING at you, and also you’re the coach of a college football team. I think we’ve all been there.

So this weekend, when you’re dreading Monday morning, just picture a 63-year old man shouting about how he won’t talk to you unless you cheer up. That should make you feel totally fine.

Louisiana Tech’s Offensive Linemen Are Sexy (And They Know It)

Written by Brandon Stroud / 09.20.12

Louisiana Tech LMFAO Sexy And I Know It

In the funniest ‘Sexy And I Know It’-related sports news since the Miami Heat celebrated the douchiest NBA Championship win in history by rapping with LMFAO, the offensive linemen of Louisiana Tech have uploaded a video of themselves dancing and lip syncing to the pop hit/M&M’s anthem while what I’m assuming are webcam-supplied lights flash above them. It’s exactly the kind of thing you record when you find out your new computer has Photo Booth, and I’m happy they put it on the Internet.

The YouTube description:

Important question: What was intended?

Video is after the jump. I’m pretty excited for this time next year when ‘Gangnam Style’ finally finds its way to Louisiana.
