Meet The Bro Who Is Dragging A Giant Pair Of Boobs Across Antarctica For Charity

Written by Ashley Burns / 02.28.13

Antarctica is suddenly becoming a hot spot for giant breasts, as it started with Kate Upton and Sports Illustrated taking a trip to the South Pole to shoot the cover of this year’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and will continue with one man’s strange-but-awesome quest to break a world record. Specifically, adventurer Geoff Wilson is currently training for a November expedition to Antarctica, where he will set out to break the world record for a solo trip covering more than 1,675 miles of ice and, presumably, penguin doodies.

Why in God’s name would Wilson do something this insane when the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas is running awesome specials for winter months? He’s doing it for charity, of course. Wilson’s actual goal is to raise $1 million for breast cancer awareness and the McGrath Foundation with his “Pink Polar Expedition” that will feature him dragging a giant pair of pink breasts with him on his journey.

The Charles Barkley Price Is Right Appearance, Or “What The Hell Happened To The Price Is Right”

Written by Brandon Stroud / 02.22.13

Charles Barkley Price Is Right

Charles Barkley showed up as part of ‘The Price Is Right’s’ second-annual “Celebrity Charity Week” alongside such luminaries as Demi Lovato and two of the four dudes from 98 Degrees, and while it’s cool to 1) be on ‘The Price Is Right’ and 2) win money for charity, what the hell is going on with ‘The Price Is Right?’

I know Drew Carey took over and shrank, but the last time I watched the show it was basically the same. Did the crowd shrink to parallel Drew? Is this “stand in front of a video screen and just make up shit” game part of Celebrity Charity Week only (because Demi Lovato doesn’t have the physical dexterity for Plinko or whatever)? Are there still beauties and Holes In One Or Two and such? This is terrifying. Is the entire effort fruitless if it doesn’t end with Bob Barker demanding the genitals of our pets? It’s like I’m watching a CD-Rom of a thrown-together ‘Price Is Right’ game.

Shane Battier Versus The Theme To ‘The Love Boat.’ Who Ya Got?

Written by Brandon Stroud / 01.09.13

Shane Battier Love BoatWith Leather has never been an overwhelmingly pro-Miami Heat type of site. We’ll write “congrats to the heat on that thing they won” in passing in our morning links, but post 30 paragraphs about their fans are d-bags.

Occasionally they’ll do something positive for the community and we’ll write it up. That’s the case with today’s Heat update, and I will ease into the blockquote without mentioning how I’m only sharing it because Shane Battier is doing a karaoke version of the theme to the f**king ‘Love Boat.’

Join Shane Battier for the second annual “South Beach Battioke” celebrity karaoke event on Monday, January 21, 2013, at the Eden Roc Renaissance Hotel in Miami Beach, to benefit The Battier Take Charge Foundation.

Man, listen to that. It’s glorious. It’s the exact opposite of Mario Chalmers trying to rap.

Tickets to the event are $250, so if you’ve been saving a quarter of a thousand dollars to see LeBron James put on a wig and mug his way through a Pretty Ricky track, this may be your chance. Worst case scenario, you’ll get to find out whether or not Battier knows the lyrics to ‘Love, American Style.’

Happy Holidays From The LadyCats, The Best Thing About The Charlotte Bobcats

Written by Ashley Burns / 12.20.12

Continuing with my theme of “Hey, here’s some good news, let’s talk about this!” that started with Andre Johnson’s incredibly kind effort and continued with Chris Paul’s equally generous charitable act, sports teams in every league except the one with a commissioner who is ruining Canada’s Christmas have been pitching in to help kids in their communities. Earlier this week, for instance, Orlando Magic players Jameer Nelson, JJ Redick and Glen Davis each held separate events for local kids, and the Charlotte Bobcats even took time away from not being in last place to give a little back.

As part of their Cats Care program, the entire Bobcats team gave 40 kids from the Salvation Army Center of Hope Women’s and Children’s Shelter, Hope Haven and Church of God Children’s Home of North Carolina their own $150 gift cards to run around Target and pick out toys for themselves and presents for their families. As in most cases like this, it meant as much to the players as it did to the kids.

The Most Important Thing You’ll Read About Today: Shaun White Got A Haircut

Written by Brandon Stroud / 12.19.12
Shaun White X Rated Photos scandal

I don't want to know what he's planning to do with that.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned from being the editor-in-chief of a sports comedy blog, it’s that dating a supermodel can be rough on your hair. Remember when Tom Brady hooked up with Gisele Bundchen and his hair started getting weird, and how even now he’ll show up to random charity events with spit-curl fauxhawks? Well, Shaun White is next.

As you may know from our constant groaning about it, Only Snowboarder Anybody Can Name Shaun White is dating supermodel Bar Refaeli. To prove my SUPERMODELS HATE WHATEVER HAIR YOU HAVE WHEN THEY MEET YOU theory, Bar orchestrated the shearing of Shaun’s signature “Flying Tomato” hair, instantly transforming him from DANGEROUS EXTREME SPORTS REBEL into … well, he kinda looks like Clay Aiken.

Chris Paul Is Feeling The Holiday Spirit

Written by Ashley Burns / 12.14.12

The other day, I noticed someone on my Twitter feed complaining that it’s not ESPN’s and cable news’ fault that all we want is bad news and controversy reported to us. And I thought, “Hold on, I don’t want that. Who wants that? People who want that suck”, and so on and so forth. I guess it’s kind of true, and I really just don’t want to believe that there are sick people who are so miserable with their own lives that they can only feel better by watching other people suffer. That’s probably why Andre Johnson’s amazing act of kindness last week went largely unnoticed. Because it wasn’t sexy or scandalous.

Well screw that, because we like good stories about good athletes, so with that, Los Angeles Clippers guard Chris Paul is our Super Cool Athlete of the Week because he took a trip home to Winston-Salem yesterday to donate time and money to local kids so they could spoil themselves with toys. Teaming up with fellow Wake Forest alum Josh Howard (who couldn’t attend, but he’s still cool), Paul gave 100 gift cards valued at $100 to 100 at-risk kids, and by my Florida education I believe that comes out to $6 trillion.
