WWE TLC 2012

Pre-show notes:

- Comments, shares, likes, Reddit submissions and up arrows (or whatever) and the like are appreciated. Pay-per-view Bests and Worsts usually don’t get as much play as the Raw column, and I’ve never understood it. These are the shows where stuff happens!

- Follow us on Twitter @withleather, follow me personally @MrBrandonStroud and like us on Facebook.

- GIFs in the column are courtesy of Jerusalem at the Punchsport Pagoda.

- I apologize for the weird execution of the TLC live thread. Some combination of jet lag and the sad stuff that happened over the weekend got me mixed up, and I didn’t get it up and ready like I should’ve. It won’t happen again.

So yeah, please click through and enjoy the Best And Worst Of WWE TLC 2012. Spoiler alert: Nobody gets a red light special.

Kate Upton Held A Skateboard For Charity As The World Showered Her With Praise

Written by Ashley Burns / 08.27.12

Kate's trick is more impressive.

Over the weekend, Zoo York and Stoker Mentoring gathered 30 Brooklyn teenagers to help clean up Fort Greene Park, and the star of the event was probably supposed to be 18-year old skateboarding phenom Chaz Ortiz, but then super model and 2011 With Leather Celebrity Sports Fan of the Year Kate Upton showed up, and approximately all of the teenage boys suddenly had to stop picking up trash and sit down for 5-10 minutes.

A multiple Dew Tour event winner, Ortiz even showed Upton a few tricks with his skateboard, and then he probably asked her if she wanted to go see a movie or something, and she replied, “Aw, that’s sweet, but my boyfriend won 24 games last season and you’ve only finished 4th at the X Games, so I’m good.” But Kate was more than happy to give back to her community, even if she wasn’t exactly dressed for the occasion.

She was aware that her sandals were perhaps not the most suitable footwear.

She joked: ‘Hey, at least I’m not wearing heels!’

Speaking to ESPN, Kate revealed why taking part in the park clean up was important to her.

She said: ‘I love being able to work with kids who have disadvantages and work together and make this a better community.’ (Via the Daily Mail, images as well.)

Upton, whom the Daily Mail wrote is “usually seen walking the Victoria’s Secret catwalk in ethereal lingerie”, despite never having been employed by Victoria’s Secret, was a good sport as Ortiz offered to show her some skateboard tricks, as she admitted that she’s horrible at riding a skateboard. I assume it’s because she’s so obese and the board just bends in the middle when she steps on. Gross.

Kate gives a little back to the kids after the jump, and I also include a new Upton GIF that is finally relevant.

Is This The Future Of The Nets?

Written by Ashley Burns / 12.14.10

Back in September, a pair of Philadelphia lawyers registered the name “Brooklyn New Yorkers” for trademark protection, as well as a series of logos and the slogan “We Come To Play”, according to the fine people at Nets Daily. This news has the NBA world buzzing because this could be the new name and logo for the New Jersey Nets once they move to Brooklyn. It’s certainly an exciting and inspiring rumor for people who own stencil kits and rhinestone guns.

Of course, only those Philly lawyers and the Nets ownership know if this is actually the new name and logo. And maybe Kim Kardashian, because she makes Kris Humphries tell mama all the big news if he wants to keep getting the sugar. Presumably. I swear I don’t think about them having sex. Stop talking, Burnsy.

Airbrush my tall tee, Nets Daily

There’s no indication in the US Patent and Trademark Office files that the Nets are associated with the lawyers. A spokesperson for the team declined comment Monday when asked by NetsDaily about the trademark applications. A spokesperson for Mikhail Prohorov’s [sic] Onexim Group told NetsDaily recently that the applications are “not ours”. The attorney of record on three of the five applications has not responded to a request for information.

The NBA – where mystery, intrigue and uninspired logos happen. While I’m certainly no trademark and patent lawyer (I’m just an honest neurosurgeon by day and exotic male dancer by night) I think it’s a bit premature to assume this concept would be the step forward that the Nets are looking to take. Then again, maybe Prokhorov is a stereotypical Russian and he is pushing the name because he thinks it’s American. Their mascot could be Billy Joel and the uniforms will be denim. But seriously, that logo looks like it’s from Double Dribble.

Some more evidence for your conspiracy theories after the jump…

Are You Ready For Some Air Humping?

Written by Ashley Burns / 09.14.10

air

In case you didn’t get enough sucking motions out of Mark Sanchez last night, scenic Brooklyn is apparently the place to be for all your air fornication needs. On October 9, the Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn will host the 2010 Championships of Air Sex. You know how when your 46-year old co-worker gets really drunk at happy hour and demands that he play air keyboard to Final Countdown? Well imagine him dry humping the wind instead, and voila! You’ve got the Championships of Air Sex.

But it’s not just about dry humping, friends. There’s so much more in celebrating this lack of a sex partner, with contestants using toys, props, interpretive motion and their God-given creativity to astound a crowd of hundreds, who have apparently never heard of strip clubs. And that’s the good part for those of you with gentle eyes. There is no nudity and all orgasms must be legitimate. Legitimately fake, that is. I mean, who wants to have sex and actually enjoy it? *receives stern look from college girlfriends*

Please tell me that someone is willing to take describing this stuff to a whole disgusting new level, Brooklyn Paper:
