Everyone’s favorite Brazilian twin synchronized swimmers, Bia and Branca Feres, are back in the news.  Busted Coverage revealed that, uh, well… hmmm.  Busted Coverage revealed absolutely no news at all, because they don’t speak Portuguese and thus can’t decipher the news story they found.  As best as I can tell, their new show on Brazilian MTV aired for the first time yesterday.

Now, you may be asking yourself, “Wait, if they’re hosting a TV show, are they going to be fully clothed?”  And the answer is a resounding No, absolutely not.  Keep in mind that these women are serious competitive synchronized swimmers, and therefore they never get out of skimpy bikinis, is what I’ve convinced myself.

Maylan Studart is a 19-year-old from Rio de Janeiro who recently moved to the U.S. to ride horses at New York’s Aqueduct racetrack.  And in a twist of fate no one could have imagined, a 19-year-old Brazilian woman also happens to be attractive.

Her blog, which includes pictures of her on the beach, in Halloween costume, and with her husband (sad trombone), features the vision that made her dream of riding in America possible:

You see, the key is to aim high. If you set low goals, you may achieve them, yes. And maybe sooner than you would achieve a very high goal. But if you aim high and try with your heart, with your soul, with your mind, like a horse who wears blinkers (“antolhos” em português), even if you don’t reach your highest goal, you will still get so much furthur than you would if you aimed low.

I dunno.  That’s great that you’ve won five of your first 15 races in America and all (including a 51-1 longshot), but that sounds like an awful lot of work.  I’d rather set goals like, “I have to finish this jar of peanut butter by the time I finish watching The O.C. Season Two on DVD.”  And I’ll accomplish that goal.  Even if it means not going outside or showering all weekend.

Bia and Branca Feres, the lithe, blond, young twin Brazilian synchronized swimmers who made this past summer so enjoyable, are back in the news.  Kinda.  Well, not really, but they were recently on some Brazilian game show, and they also appeared at a fashion show of some sort.  Not as models, unfortunately.

Busted Coverage, which keeps questionably legal tabs on the girls, wrote about the game show appearance:

The game show (shown last week), De Cara No Muro, pitted Bia and Branca plus some tool against two other tools and another cute Brazilian chick. The goal of the show is to make your body go through holes in a wall before being pushed into a pool.

I’m not gonna lie to you.  The content of this story may be one of the most boring things I’ve ever written about.  But it made me go back through the archives to look at this massive gallery of them. Oh, and look here: another massive gallery of them.  So in the end, it was all worth it, says my boner.

Thiago da Silva, a second-divisione Brazilian soccer player, was tortured and murdered by assassins hired by his recently spurned ex-girlfriend and her aunt.  Yikes.

Before he passed away, da Silva was able to tell the police that he had fallen into a trap last Thursday evening, shortly after discussing the end of his relationship with his girlfriend, Alyne Padula.

The former Vasco player was overwhelmed by three people (including a member of the military police), all of whom are friends of the girl’s aunt. He was handcuffed, beaten and tortured. When he tried to flee he was hit by three bullets.

This is horrible.  Soccer players from South America should only ever be killed by angry fans.

Not to make light of a horrible situation, but I have to ask… So this girl, Alyne?  She’s single, Brazilian, and going to prison, right?  My God, she’s everything I’ve ever wanted!  Well, except for the vindictive murderer part.  But let’s face it, I could probably overlook that.

Today has been really slow and unsexy, so I figured this would be a good time to say, Hey, remember Bia and Branca?

Early this morning some other blogs were like "We did some research, and we think Bia and Branca might not be on the Brazilian Olympic team!!!"  Umm, no shit.  Sounds like the first post I wrote about them three days ago.  You know, the one where the first sentence began,

Bia and Branca Feres are not on Brazil's Olympic team this summer…

It was a pretty tough two minutes of research I did.  First I had to go to the Olympic athlete index.  Then I had to select "Brazil."  Then I saw only three synchronized swimmers on that page, and none of them were sexy twins.  So that was that.  But hey, great work, Woodward and Bernstein.  Way to blow the case wide open.  Maybe you can give us the inside scoop on where Brett Favre's gonna get traded, too.

Yesterday we met Bia and Branca Feres, the 20-year-old twins who compete on Brazil's national synchronized swimming team.  Today we take a look at their photo shoot and profile in Brazil's Paparazzo Magazine.  There's a lot to be learned about them.  For example, "Bia" is short for Beatriz.  Branca finds her computer indispensable, while Bia can't be without her cell phone (they're so different!).  I also learned that I really, really wish I spoke Portuguese.

Anyway, while you peruse the largest gallery ever compiled at With Leather, please remember that these young women are athletes first, and if you happen to find them attractive, that's okay because it raises the profile of synchronized swimming.  Really, they're just ambassadors of their sport.  Flexible Brazilian blond twin ambassadors.  My favorite kind.
