The very first show featured in our Sports On TV column was ‘Saved By The Bell,’ and with good reason. It’s one of those shows we’ve all seen whether we like it or not, and face it, you can’t spell “Internet” without ‘Saved By The Bell.’
Saved By The Bell’s 20 Greatest Sports Moments featured so many of the classics — Zack becoming an Indian to deal with track team stress, girls on the wrestling team, wheelchair basketball, Zack hitting a soon-to-be-dead-from-oil-spillage duck with a baseball — but it didn’t feature them all. It’s only fitting that the first part 2 entrant in Sports on TV history would be 15 MORE great sports moments from the show.
So, please click through to enjoy sports moments 21-35 from ‘Saved By The Bell.’ Warning: there is a lot of spooning-disguised-as-instruction gags in these entries. A LOT.
This week on a very special edition of Raw, Camacho finds a bottle of speed pills in Rosa’s gym bag. Also …
Wait, I’m getting “actual Raw” and “Brandon’s Raw fan fiction” mixed up again. Here’s the actual preview:
Last week’s Raw SuperShow redefined the word “fallout” when AJ’s lip-lock with WWE Champion CM Punk ended with her putting both Punk and No. 1 contender Daniel Bryan through a table. Elsewhere, Alberto Del Rio responded to becoming No. 1 contender to the World Heavyweight Title with a veritable rampage through the roster. And one of the most exciting Money in the Bank Ladder Match participants picked up a surprise win last week that cost him dearly. How will things play out this Monday on Raw SuperShow?
In other WWE news, “person they should’ve signed three years ago” Sara Del Rey has reportedly been offered a developmental contract SO EXPECT HER TO DEBUT ON RAW TONIGHT (don’t, I’m kidding) and one of the top worldwide trends right now is “Bob Backlund”, so get ready for that.
As always, my 10 favorite comments from tonight’s open discussion will be featured in tomorrow’s Best And Worst Of WWE Raw 7/9/12 column. To nominate a comment for top 10 status, please reply to it with a +1. I urge you to vote for particularly funny, insightful or apropos comments and not just stuff you agree with. “I would have sex with AJ” is not a top comment of the week.
Pre-show discussion questions:
1. Is Kane’s ability to light a charcoal grill confirmation of his fire bending? If so, could Undertaker theoretically teach him to channel lightning through his chokeslam hand and redirect it at people? Bonus question: How many of you are dorky enough to discuss this with me at length? 2. What should our commenting badge be for the Money In The Bank open discussion thread this weekend? 3. If Bob Backlund doesn’t show up (because WWE knows too many people know he’ll show up), which WWE Legend should take his place? Don’t say X-Pac. 4. What’s your favorite GIF from our 20 Best Pro Wrestling GIFs Of June post?
- Welcome to my first ever Best And Worst Of WWE [Insert Older Pay-per-view Show Title Here] report. I asked the column’s regular readers to decide which time-appropriate pay-per-view event I’d cover first, and this show, one of the highlights of WWF’s epic 2000, won with over 42% of the vote. So here we are, getting you ready for the 2012 Royal Rumble with a look back at the year 2000′s.
- Comments are appreciated. Clicking “like” is appreciated, tweets and retweets are appreciated, showing and sharing this to and with the people you know are appreciated. One of the reasons I haven’t done older show reports so far is that nobody’s googling for them, so our traffic goes way down and they take like 80 hours to write, so why bother? But I WANT to write them, so if you support them and make them a success, I’ll keep cranking them out. At least get me to Wrestlemania 23, so I can write about Ashley Massaro.
To make things even better, we’ve added some features to our comments section, like badges for unlockable achievements and image/gif posting privileges for top commenters. Our first With Leather badge debuts tomorrow night with the Royal Rumble Open thread. Here’s a hint: >=(
- Don’t forget to come back on Sunday and participate in our open discussion thread for Royal Rumble, happening live. I’ll make sure to update with results and everything. It’ll be fun. YOU’LL ENJOY IT.
Just kidding. For a header, here is an awesome rap video.

So Long and Thanks for All the Puppies - Matt Ufford is leaving Warming Glow, so I wanted to take a moment on this sports comedy blog he created to thank him for everything. Him going “hey, you should let this guy write” is the only reason I’m a part of the UPROXX family, and I’ll never forget that. P.S. you really should’ve put me in charge of Warming Glow, because I mean seriously [Warming Glow]
10 of the Greatest Comic Book Video Games - The list goes 1. Arkham Asylum, 2. Arkham City, 3. Captain America And The Avengers in the arcade, 4. that one Spider-Man game for the Sega CD with the Mr. Big soundtrack, 5. All Others. [Gamma Squad]

That Time Nic Cage Was On The Cover Of A Serbian Biology Textbook - Why does he keep randomly showing up places? He was on one of the rides at the Texas State Fair, too. Is he the Black Racer? Am I going to die? [Film Drunk]

7 Popular Songs That Are Too Rapey - “Hello” shouldn’t be on here, but “E.T.” by Katy Perry should. I feel weird when the little girl playing Just Dance at the Best Buy is shaking a Wiimote to “ready for abduction”. [Buzzfeed]
“Where Are The Great Movies?” Asks The Director Of Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull - Terrible journalism that makes up a headline and nobody reads the body. He didn’t say there are no good movies, he said he’d rather watch older films because they’re more romanticized. Jesus, reading comprehension, everybody. [FARK]
The Original Ending to ‘The Muppets’ Was Much Better - I’d like to think the |Moviefone|
‘Community’ Wins TV Guide Magazine Fan Favorite Poll - Too bad it can’t win any “fans watching television” contests. [AOL TV]
Brace Yourself, You’re About To Like Tyler Perry - Not even clicking this. I don’t want to live in a world where I have a three dimensional view of Tyler Perry, I just want to think of him as Ma Dukes from ‘The Boondocks’. [Pajiba]
A Collection of Masked Movie Posters - The Saw poster sorta looks like a Stormtrooper. I don’t know, all these minimalist things are making me love busy-ass posters. [Unreality]
