Kevin Durant Is Tired Of Being No. 2 On The New Cover Of Sports Illustrated

Written by Ashley Burns / 04.23.13

With the first round of the NBA playoffs underway, Kevin Durant is on the cover of the latest issue of Sports Illustrated and he is upset about something. I can’t quite put my finger on what he’s getting at, but maybe you can decipher it from this very vague quote that accompanies his image:

“I’ve been second my whole life. I was the second-best player in high school. I was the second pick in the draft. I’ve been second in the MVP voting three times. I came in second in the Finals. I’m tired of being second…. I’m done with it.”

I’ll tell you the first thing that I noticed – this is a fella that loves to say, “I”. “I” this and “I” that. Last time I checked, an entire team finished second in last year’s NBA Finals, Kev. Otherwise, I like this cover a lot. I like the emotion and the intensity. I like the message.

So I was thinking we could make this a theme and give Kevin the cover every few weeks with a different message about something that’s bothering him. Call it therapy. In fact, I even made a few that he can use.

Falling Out Of The Chair Wheelchair Basketball Layup? Falling Out Of The Chair Wheelchair Basketball Layup

Written by Brandon Stroud / 04.22.13

wheelchair basketball layupSorry for the wordiness of that headline. If you stare at it long enough it looks like it says CHAIR CHAIR CHAIR CHAIR. But still, a wheelchair basketball player made a lay-up while falling out of his wheelchair and that deserves as many typings of CHAIR as possible.

From the YouTube description, which is trying its best to get this clip on SportsCenter:

Brian Bell of the RHI Indiana Pacers drops it like it’s hot with this crazy out of the chair layup in the 2013 NWBA Division 1 National Championship in Louisville, KY. The Mavs defeated the Pacers but this shot was amazing. Everyone please share and help us get it on Sports Center! Share with hashtag #SCTOP10

It definitely deserves a spot in the Top 10. Brian has officially replaced Melissa, Zack’s girlfriend from that one very special episode of ‘Saved By The Bell,’ as the best wheelchair basketball player I’ve ever seen. Tweet this out, friends, and make sure to use the appropriate hashtag.

Hey Everyone, Look At How Edgy Rihanna Was Being At The Heat Game!

Written by Ashley Burns / 04.22.13

According to the hip kids on my street that I pay to not steal my packages from Amazon, singer and woman who has voluntarily dated Chris Brown multiple times, Rihanna, recently canceled some of her concerts on her latest tour because she hasn’t been feeling well. However, as I have dabbled in garage medical practice in the past, the best cure for pop singer fatigue has always been going to Miami Heat playoff games.

Rihanna sat courtside with her friend during last night’s Heat blowout of the Milwaukee Bucks, and just look at how edgy and in-your-face they were with their white Heat sunglasses and cunnilingus finger poses. Kids these days.

Kris Humphries Just Wants An Apology

Written by Ashley Burns / 04.19.13

It looks like the incredibly drawn out and ridiculously expensive divorce hearing between Kris Humphries and Kim Kardashian is finally coming to an end. K-Hump and the Devil’s Baby Bump could settle as early as today – with TMZ leaking that it has already been settled, pending an announcement in court – avoiding their trial that was set to begin on May 6 and would cost California taxpayers even more money than it already has. To date, both jilted lovers have spent north of $300,000 in lawyer fees, because they’re both clearly idiots.

But because Humphries may have done irreparable damage to his own case last week by failing to appear at a mandatory mediation session, the end could be nigh. Just in time for Humphries to watch the Brooklyn Nets take on the Chicago Bulls in the first round of the NBA playoffs from that comfy seat that he earned on the bench.

Like most good divorces, though, this one comes down to money.

And Now, The Top 10 Dunks Of 2012-2013

Written by Brandon Stroud / 04.19.13

Best dunks of 2012-2013

The world outside is scary right now, so I suggest we spend this entire Friday reliving the happier moments of this year, like the time DeAndre Jordan baptized Brandon Knight against his will and that other time when Blake Griffin dunked all stupid when he didn’t have to.

The NBA playoffs start tomorrow, so the NBA’s YouTube channel posted their picks for the top 10 dunks of the year. A lot of these have appeared in the Wednesday Dunk Battle, so it’s a pleasant trip down a brutal memory lane. Remember when LeBron James made Jason Terry feel like a useless asshole? Remember when Kobe remembered how good he can be and dunked on the entire Brooklyn Nets line-up? Good times.

The NBA’s top 10 is after the jump, followed by the ACTUAL best dunk of the year.

Written by Brandon Stroud / 04.18.13

Interested in learning more about Kobe Bryant’s injury and its impact on the Los Angeles Lakers? Then turn to the only people who matter in sports reporting, Taiwan’s Next Media Animation. They gave everybody big heads, have Kobe sobbing in a wheelchair and even managed to cram in a Jeremy Lin reference. Note: Jeremy Lin has a regular sized head. Because Taiwan? (h/t to Josh Mendoza)
