I’m about as indifferent to Cameron Diaz as one could be, I think. I think she has what people in the industry like to call “comedy chops.” I don’t know if that’s like some sort of Tae-Bo or whatever, but she doesn’t do a lot of bad movies and she’s not terrible-looking. That said, she strikes me as sort of the blonde Jennifer Aniston: aloof, less than charming, and terrible at math. Anyway, she’s apparently dating Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez. And why not? After making a movie with Tom Cruise, A-Rod looks like Big Jim Slade.

The grapevine in Hollywood is abuzz with the news that actress Cameron Diaz might be dating the New York Yankees superstar Alex Rodriguez who is also popularly known as A-Rod. –Manhattan Style.

Thanks for clearing up such confusing shorthand. But isn’t Diaz still with Justin Timberlake?

[Justin] Timberlake and Diaz were together for four years before breaking up, but the Shrek project has apparently brought them back together. It is believed the two remained friends after their separation, and reports say the relationship is heating up again.

It would certainly make things interesting if it turns out Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake were still together during all of this – and if the rumors of Cameron Diaz and Yankees star Alex Rodriguez dating are true as well! –StarPulse.

I didn’t see Brüno, so I didn’t realize that this scene with Pete Rose didn’t make the final cut of the film. Rose is still banned from baseball, but apparently not banned from interactions with people pretending to be gay Austrians–or “faux-mos,”–if you will. I guess the studio released this clip to generate some buzz for the DVD release. Which studio? Great question. You go ahead and check that out and get back to me. –First Cuts.

Lame-assed Oscar host and former New York Yankee pinch-hitter Billy Crystal (remember him?) hasn’t annoyed moviegoers in years, so there wasn’t a better time to join the cast of a movie starring another wannabe athlete: The Rock Dwayne Johnson. From Variety (via Ben Maller):

Taking on his first role in a live-action studio picture since 2002′s “Analyze That,” Billy Crystal will join the cast of “Tooth Fairy,” the Fox comedy that begins shooting Monday in Vancouver[...]

Dwayne Johnson stars with Ashley Judd, Julie Andrews, Stephen Merchant (“The Office”) and Ryan Sheckler. Johnson plays a minor league hockey player known for loosening dental work with physical play and is sentenced to serve as the real Tooth Fairy for a week.

Lemme guess, no explosions, no gunfire, and Ashley doesn’t get naked.

The Rock and Will Ferrell seem to be in this unofficial race to see whose athlete portrayal on film can suck the biggest dong. And while I’m sure this movie will live up to being the big bucket of ass we all expect it to be, nothing makes me want to wash out my eyes with a bucket of piss more than a shirtless Will Ferrell. Jesus Christ, man, do some cardio or something.

Don't get me wrong, Summer Catch is an awful movie, but it does contain one scene that allows me to engage in a process that relieves the pent-up stress of the day.  It's debatable whether this scene is better than Phoebe Cates emerging from the pool in Fast Times at Ridgemont High – the lovely Jessica may be hotter, but the lovely Phoebe removes her bikini top.  Either way, I'm able to think clearly now.  Well, clearly for a hungover Irishman:  

Now I feel better.  This movie does suck though, but hey, isn't that Freddie Prinze Jr.?  I think I'll watch some Chico and The Man now. -KD
