With Leather’s Watch This: Please Bring Back ‘Battle Of The Network Stars’

Written by Ashley Burns / 02.11.13

I know you will all be watching Monday Night Raw on the heels of last week’s “Not terrible” show, especially since The Rock will be appearing tonight to say witty things that people repeat in unison. I’ll probably be watching, too, since post-NFL season Monday nights are boring as hell. However, there’s a very good chance that I’m going to be watching ESPN Classic during the commercials, as the WWL’s throwback channel will be airing an episode of Battle of the Network Stars.

The original celebrity competition reality TV, Battle of the Network Stars should still be around today, especially on ABC. Just thinking about Manny from Modern Family being shot into the sky as a human cannonball and all of the things that could possibly go wrong just makes me smile. It’s so much better than J-Woww belly-flopping into a pool.

Please bring back Battle of the Network Stars, ABC. Or at least let TLC have the rights so they can load their show casts up with anthrax.

Olivia Wilde Gave The Jayhawks ‘Some Pointers’, Us The Easiest Joke Of 2013

Written by Ashley Burns / 01.03.13

Okay, well technically it was the easiest joke of 2012, because Olivia Wilde attended the Kansas Jayhawks’ 89-57 drubbing of American University this past Saturday night. So why was the most amazingly GIF-worthy woman in the world at the Allen Fieldhouse, torturing all of those Jayhawks men and their sucked-in guts? According to her Twitter, it was because she wanted to give the team… *ahem* some pointers.

I’ll bet she did. Take it away, rimshot monkey!

In reality, she was there to support her boyfriend and delightful comedic actor, Jason Sudeikis, who, as we have pointed out previously, is quite the awesome Kansas sports fan. Sure, he’s no Jon Hamm in a Cardinals hat, but I’ll still give credit where it’s due. And I imagine that the Jayhawks fans were pretty excited about this, so let’s see what kind of response Olivia drew on Twitter, shall we?

Move Over, Ashley Judd

Written by Ashley Burns / 03.12.12

For far too long, actress Ashley Judd has been the face of University of Kentucky men’s basketball fanfare, as the UK alum is often seen celebrating courtside or cheering with the student body during big games at Rupp Arena. But as nice as it is to see the younger and presumably adopted sister of Wynonna Judd get all the attention, it would still be refreshing to occasionally see some other fans share the spotlight for the Wildcats. Maybe like this girl or these girls. I’m not picky.

Despite being the clear favorites to win the SEC Tournament this weekend, the Wildcats sputtered and slipped, barely beating the Florida Gators 74-71 on Saturday and ultimately falling to the Vanderbilt Commodores 71-64. This result was clearly upsetting for a diehard UK fan like Judd, but in the aftermath of disappointment, the spotlight is finally moving.

After the jump, grab your Kleenex and open your heart to the new faces of Kentucky basketball.
