Antrel Rolle Can’t Keep His Big Mouth Shut

Written by Ashley Burns / 02.01.12

On Monday, we exposed Tom Brady for what he really is – a brash, cocky meathead jerk. A day earlier he told a crowd of 25,000 New England Patriots fans that he hoped to see them all back in a week for a much larger celebration. Of course he was implying that he hoped his team would win the Super Bowl, to which the unbiased and modest New York sports media replied, “Shame on you, good sir.”

Thankfully, the New York Football Giants don’t have to worry about any of their players making hypothetical statements of team pride at a pep rally organized solely for celebrating that team. No, their players modestly guarantee victories at some little known event called Super Bowl Media Day.

“We’re going to win this thing,” (Antrel) Rolle said at Media Day today at Lucas Oil Stadium. “We’re going to win this thing for a lot of good reasons.” (Via the New Jersey Star-Ledger)

Now, in fairness to Rolle, that statement can be taken a few different ways. So of course the mainstream pro-Boston media took it to mean that Rolle was guaranteeing a victory, and they were wrong. What he meant when he said, “We’re going to win this thing” was more of a read-between-the-lines kind of thing.

Antrel Rolle Wants To Be On The New York Fun Giants

Written by samerochocinco / 01.19.11

Look at those New York Jets with their head coach Rex Ryan, having fun, trash talking, winning games and doing cool stuff. Normally, teams wouldn’t get very far with the kind of distractions the Jets have dealt with this season, but they’ve made it all the way to the AFC championship, playing against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night. It’s like a frat house in that place, but there’s no sodomy involved to become a brother!

Antrel Rolle, however, from the other New York team (the one that didn’t make it to the playoffs) sort of wishes his coach was a little more like Ryan. I’m pretty sure he wasn’t talking about physical appearances, Tom Coughlin, so put down the weight gain supplements.

Antrel Rolle Is A F-ckin’ Soldier

Written by JOSH Z / 12.03.10

Antrel Rolle joined the New York Giants this season after playing his previous four in sunny Arizona. And from the sound of it, he’s still adjusting to big city life–and a bigger fanbase–after lashing out in the press about the fans at the Meadowlands.

In an attempt to defend ripping Giants fans Tuesday for booing the team, Rolle said: “They want to make it that guys paid this much money for a ticket. Yeah, I understand that, I understand completely. We risk ourselves out there on the field each and every day also. When soldiers come home from Iraq you don’t boo them. I look at it the same way. I take my job seriously.”

Sounds like you take it a little too seriously. But Rolle would eventually come correct, yo.

Later, in a statement released by the team, Rolle said: “I used a very poor, inappropriate example earlier today to demonstrate how seriously I take my job. Obviously there is no comparison between the men and women of our military putting their life on the line defending our country and what I do.

“They risk their lives and that gives me the opportunity to play a game for a living. After I made my earlier comments, somebody even said to me: how would your father, who is the chief of police in Homestead (Fla.) and puts himself at risk every day, feel about the comparison you made? Again, it was a very poor, very inappropriate choice of words.”

Rolle would have loved the way American soldiers were treated upon their return from Vietnam. Actually, he probably wouldn’t, because his ass most likely would have been drafted. Just keep counting your money, Antrel. That’s what those people voicing their disapproval are putting in your pocket.
