Finally, Somebody Compared Anderson Silva To The Matrix

Written by Brandon Stroud / 04.17.13

Yes, apparently!

Anderson Silva tweeted out a link to a video made last month wherein someone compares Silva’s old fight footage to clips from The Matrix. It’s not the most timely thing in the world, but it’s certainly believable that Anderson Silva is a CPU construct that just shows up to correct glitches and remove programs in the world of MMA.

Here’s the video, featuring the still hilariously named MOTHER OF ALL BATTLES on the soundtrack. Thankfully there is not 10 minutes of Silva having weird sex during a rave included anywhere.

Anderson Silva Just Broke The Internet

Written by Ashley Burns / 04.03.13

Reigning UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva is already one of the most likable stars in professional sports, but in case there were any stragglers out there who didn’t like Spider before, this video’s about to change all of that. Twelve-year old Joao Pedro is suffering from a bone disease called Epiphysiolysis that has left him bound to a wheelchair for the past 9 months. Doctors aren’t sure if he’ll ever walk again, which is obviously a terrible reality for any child to face, let alone one who loves sports.

One of Joao’s idols in Silva, so a friend reached out to Silva’s doctor, Eduardo Picanço, for an autograph to help lift the child’s spirits. Dr. Picanço and Silva did him one better and agreed to go meet him in person. And sure, we’ve seen plenty of these videos, but damn it all to heck if Joao’s reaction doesn’t just melt your heart.

Georges St-Pierre Thinks Chris Weidman Will Beat Anderson Silva

Written by Ashley Burns / 03.12.13

We’re only five days away from one of the most anticipated UFC Pay-Per-View events in recent history, as Georges St-Pierre will defend his UFC Welterweight Championship against Nick Diaz in the main event of UFC 158 Saturday night in Montreal. And as we’ve already discussed, these two gentlemen do not care for each other one bit, as St-Pierre believes that Diaz is disrespectful, while Diaz believes that St-Pierre is a spoiled, pampered brat MOTHER F*CKER I’M A MAN DON’T TALK SH*T TO ME I DON’T DESERVE TO BE BEAT DOWN A SOCCER MOM TALKED SH*T TO ME!

Sorry, I was momentarily possessed by the ghost of Nick Diaz’s phone conference. Anyway, St-Pierre is so focused on this fight that he took the opportunity to talk about someone else’s main event championship match at UFC 162, specifically Chris Weidman’s big shot at Anderson Silva.

Dana White On Anderson Silva Vs. Georges St-Pierre: ‘I’ll Make This Fight’

Written by Ashley Burns / 11.19.12

"I am ze true keeng!"

As we were watching UFC 154 on Saturday night, making hilarious quips and cyber high-fiving because we’re all awesome bros and babes, there was some excitement and chatter about something that wasn’t happening in the ring and in no way related to Brittney Palmer’s body. UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva and former light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida were on hand to watch the highly-anticipated and much-celebrated return of welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre. Silva’s presence of course begged the question: “Yo, is he gonna challenge GSP?”

And the answer, as we all learned, was “Nah”. It turns out that Silva and Machida were in Canada to film a movie with Steven Seagal, which sounds horribly awesome and I can’t wait to see it when it goes straight to Laser Disc, which Seagal invented, by the way. But don’t let that discourage you from thinking that Silva vs. St-Pierre will happen, because Silva is at least saying all the right things.

With Leather Live Discussion: UFC 153

Written by Ashley Burns / 10.13.12

“You’re too nice.” That’s the message that Steven Seagal once told Anderson Silva, who will take on Stephan Bonnar in tonight’s UFC 153 main event. Seagal told Silva that he needed to stop fighting with emotion and instead fight with determination. That’s some sage advice from the undisputed master of the front kick.

And now it’s Silva’s wrestling coach, Eric Albarracin, who has some advice for Bonnar: “Don’t piss off Anderson. Don’t say anything about Brazil.” Intriguing. I’m not sure what bad stuff Bonnar could say about Brazil. Perhaps, “Gee, I hope I’m not kidnapped and held for ransom by drug cartel assassins while I’m here”, but that’s sort of common sense. I suppose the worst thing that Bonnar could say would be: “Brazilian women are ugly.” If he does say that, I’ll fight Bonnar myself.

So here we are, set to enjoy UFC 153, as Silva will surely put on one hell of a show for his fellow countrymen in Brazil tonight. That’s just the tip of the iceberg, too, as we have ESPN’s UFC guru Chuck Mindenhall stopping by to chat with us and provide analysis for one hell of a fight card.
