Packers cornerback Al Harris is a man who, as best we know, does not have the initials of other men tattooed into his leg. But Harris, who left last night’s game in the first quarter, found blood in his urine and might have a ruptured spleen. National Football Post Writer Michael Lombardi has learned first hand that Green Bay Packers cornerback Al Harris may have a ruptured spleen, which would sideline him for the rest of the season, pending a second opinion. Harris sustained the injury in last night’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

I have to give Simms a nod here for bursting his spleen before it came the cool thing to do. So many guys in the league now are just imitators. When you can detonate an organ in your body before it becomes popular, you’ve made it, my friend.

To precisely no one’s surprise, Adrian Peterson was the only thing worth a damn on the Vikings’ offense last night, as he rushed for 103 yards and a score on just 19 carries against the Packers. He also went looking to punish Al Harris, whose low hit at Lambeau last year injured Purple Jesus’s knee and cost him a chunk of the season.

“No grudges, but I definitely wanted to come out and, if I had the opportunity, put a little boom on Harris,” Peterson said.

Oy. These are always my least favorite posts to write. University of Miami defensive lineman Bryan Pata was shot and killed last night. A future NFL draft pick and regarded as a warm personality around campus, Pata was 22. My most serious condolences go to the Pata family and the Miami community.

This is such bullshit. I'm supposed to be making fun of the Hurricanes for getting into brawls, facing felony charges, and sucking against Louisville. But I can't really get worked up to make jokes about a talented young person with a bright future dying tragically. That's just depressing.

But maybe, working together, we can solve this murder and bring the killer to justice. With Leather's Coral Gables correspondent "dosochonueve" writes,

I was able to acquire some footage from a security camera in the neighborhood where Pata lived. It's hard to make out but a shadowy figure that police believe to be the suspect can be seen crossing the street leaving the scene of the crime. If anyone has any information or can identify the man in the image please contact the authorities.

Hmmm… who owns guns, has a nasty temper, and lives in Miami? This is a real head-scratcher.
